Random headcanon that Will's first crush was actually Lucas Sinclair because Will thinks he's so manly and brave so Mike started sulking like a jealous puppy pulling Will away from Lucas and making it his life mission to protect Will at all cost, and at first Will find it really funny and stupid but then something happened with his dad (or Troy) and Mike stood up for him taking a punch at the action.

So it was sunday late afternoon, Mike's parents at work, Nancy at Barb's, all oblivious on Mike's huge bruise on the cheeks as the two boys sat quietly at his basement's couch. Will, worried while dabbing an ice pack on the forming bruise, Mike, watching Will. Will wanted to say he shouldn't have done that, that he should've just let them say what they want. But Mike looks a little too determined for Will to tell him off so he just lets him be. His little heart fluttering too much— the moment he realized he's different from the rest. A bittersweet memory really.

#Lucas was actually weirded out by Mike's sudden possessiveness #I believe there came a phase where Lucas was so glad Dustin arrived because Mike won't stop glaring at him if he gets too close to Will #Also why Lucas was so mad that he's “flirting” with El instead of finding Will during season 1 #Lucas thinks he was tripping back then when Mike and El started dating #Byler #I should sleep

ELMAX PRACTICE KISSING 20K WORDS, FRIENDS TO LOVERS, GETTING TOGETHER

I’m going insane. I’m GOING INSANE.

This is how Mike and El react when Hop sorta catches them, right? This is them pretending to be innocent like they weren’t just making out. This is what they look like when Hop busts quite angrily through the door. Both holding comics that they’re seemingly pretending to read. 

So, later on after some break-up shenanigans, El and Max are hanging out, oh, in this same room. Being besties. Being gal pals. Enjoying each other’s company, falling over each other on the floor laughing. Very them.

And then. AND THEN.

They hear Hopper’s car pull up outside. We see them both whip their heads up in acknowledgement of this approaching noise. This potential interruption. 

And what does Hop find when he busts into El’s room again?

Same shit, but with a ginger this time.

I am not implying that Max and El were making out pre-Hop entrance. But WHYYY do we have this clear narrative and visual parallel between these scenes WHAT WAS THE REASON and why does Hop’s reaction read like a dad who just found out his kid is a lesbian and is “really cool” with it???

I know that Mike and El’s relationship is heavy with familial coding but why do El and Max keep paralleling the supposed “romantic” Elmike moments specifically? But high-key doing them better?? Why??? If not Elmax????

(To highlight that El’s relationship with Max is way healthier than her relationship with Mike? To demonstrate how Max is better for her? Yeah, that’s still comparing Max to El’s literal canonical boyfriend. I refuse to get off my bullshit. They cannot keep getting away with it.)
