Affordable housing, universal healthcare and ending poverty all by default feminist policies because they are all feminist issues. You can’t separate one from the other. 

I find it mindboggling how many English “radfems” have literally bought, hook line and sinker, the notion that Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party more generally are anti-semites.

How stupid do you have to be to believe this?  It flies in the face of literally every single fact about Corbyn himself, and more generally about the party and/or Labour supporters. 

There are “radical” women in the United States who have bought, with zero thought apparently, the weird narratives around Bernie Sanders and his supporters too, so I’m not profoundly shocked, but unfollowing all the idiot British “radical” women on twitter was one of my better decisions because what a bunch of fools they are.  It’s just depressingly obvious that most women who call themselves “radical” are no such thing, and are only focused on what they are told and obediently believing in it and parroting it back, just like their genderist arch-nemisises (nemisi?) do.  Ain’t none of you different in the end.

But these Labour lobby groups reflected too a lingering European racism only too willing to overlook the legacy of Israel’s creation – the mass suffering of Palestinians ruled over by an unaccountable, brutal Israeli army.

It was Palestinians, not Europeans, who were made to atone for Europe’s racism towards the Jewish people. Corbyn acknowledges that historical fact. Most of his parliamentary colleagues refuse to do so. Some may even unconsciously resent him for highlighting their own hypocrisy and unthinking racism towards Palestinians.”

Of course you can feel how you like about Labour however to claim that they’re not standing up for women is blatantly untrue, and this is actually the worst time to be saying that given that there’s a general election in two weeks’ time. Yes the legal status of women is important but more so is our financial security and livelihoods. 21% of women live in poverty in the UK. Women across the country are being done over by the inhumane and inefficient universal credit system with some having to turn to the sex industry to survive because of payment delays. Labour is pledging to replace UC. They’re also pledging fully-funded sexual health services, the introduction of a National Care Service (who’s most likely to be providing domestic care to their friends/relatives for no remuneration?), free early years provision and the building of 150,000 new council houses annually. All of these and more will positively affect tens of thousands of women including those in your constituency. 

Sorry but such policies only look like ‘crumbs’ to those who are lucky enough to not to have to deal with day to day in-work poverty which women and their families are subject to because of Tory cuts and general savagery.

Upon taking power, Áñez's government threatened to arrest MAS legislators, accusing them of "subversion and sedition," despite the fact that this party holds a majority in both chambers of congress. The de facto government then received international condemnation after issuing a decree granting immunity to the military in its efforts to reestablish order and stability. This decree has been described as a "license to kill" and "carte blanche" to repress, and it has been strongly criticized by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

The result of this decree has been death, repression and massive violations of human rights. In the week and a half since the coup, 32 people have died in protests, with more than 700 wounded. This conflict is spiraling out of control and I fear it will only get worse. Rumors abound on social media of military and police units refusing the de facto government's orders to repress. It is not hyperbole to suggest that this could result in a civil war. That's why so many Bolivians are desperately calling for international help. "The military has guns and a license to kill; we have nothing," cried a mother whose son had just been shot in Senkata. "Please, tell the international community to come here and stop this."

It BOGGLES MY MIND too. And yes, it is creepily similar to the behaviour of transactivists who smear feminists for saying things they don’t like. I’m very confused by Julie Bindel’s position on this who says she’s voting Labour but continues to smear Corbyn for acclaimed anti-semitism. Sian Steans made an excellent point that there won’t *be* an NHS providing free sex-specific healthcare such as abortions, contraception etc to women if the Tories retain power, so all those ‘GC’ women refusing to vote Labour bc of this issue are shooting themselves (and most women in the UK) in the foot. So much for sisterhood!! Honestly I’m so sick of it. Yes Labour aren’t perfect, no political party is, but their proposed policies, eg providing council housing for single mums, compensating WASPI women and paid leave for DV survivors, have the potential to change women’s lives for the better unlike the Tories who continue to wreck lives and dignity through racist misogynist austerity.

A big difference between the 80s and now, is that in the 80s, you were more likely to be able to support yourself in a female-traditional industry. Teachers and secretaries were more likely to be self-supporting. Even waitresses were more likely to be self-supporting than they are now.

My mom just needed *a job* to leave my dad, and lots of jobs qualified. There was still lots of medium skill work that wasn't in degreed professions, and lots of it was female-dominated (how many professional secretaries exist anymore, relative to the 80s?).

She didn't need to go back to school and put in 3 years of unpaid work just to make any living wage at all. She didn't need to become a graduate-degreed professional just to be able to end her marriage. She just needed *A* JOB. You needed to make more than minimum wage to be on your own, but not as much more as you do now. And people who did make minimum wage sometimes lived with roommates. Many of my older friends left home while working minimum wage jobs, something that just was not possible for my age group.

Whereas now many women are either in an appeasement dynamic with men in their lives that they depend on, or in an appeasement dynamic with the male-dominated professions they're in.

So much has gotten better but tbh so much has also gotten worse.
