“Ohio State, first of all, to all the Buckeyes fans, from the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologize for me signing with a sports agent and losing my eligibility my senior year. That is the only regret I have in my athletic career, is that I couldn’t play for the Buckeyes as a senior. Buckeyes fans, Cris Carter says ‘I’m sorry.'”

Still, even this massive success hasn’t shielded Hardy from the harsh glare of the media spotlight, which led to the most infamous moment in his career – a verbal throwdown with a reporter who questioned him about his sexuality.

The awkward exchange occurred at the premiere of 2015’s Legend at the Toronto International Film Festival. The hard hitting crime drama earned Hardy rave reviews for his dual roles as both Ronnie and Reggie Kray, real life, openly gay twins who were also gangsters – and, according to some sources, allegedly incestuous.

During the press conference for Legend, a reporter for the LGBTQ periodical Daily Xtra asked a very personal question about Hardy’s life in a very roundabout way.

“In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality, but given interviews you’ve done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous.”

With that setup, the reporter eventually asked,

“Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?”

Hardy at first seemed confused by the question.

When the reporter indicated that they were referring to an interview Hardy had given years earlier, Hardy got blunt – and then ended the line of questioning.

Well… at least Hardy only bit the reporter’s head off metaphorically and not literally!

Of course, the “why” question was mostly rhetorical, as it was prompted by Hardy’s 2008 interview with the British LGBTQ magazine Attitude in which the star revealed he had previously explored relationships with men.

“Of course I have. I’m an actor for f—s sake. I’m an artist. I’ve played with everything and everyone. But I’m not into men sexually. I love the form and the physicality but the gay sex bit does nothing for me. […] But there’s plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life.”

Initially, the interview went unnoticed, but after Hardy became a star, the quotes resurfaced, leading Hardy to tell Marie Claire in 2011 that the whole thing had been taken out of context.

“I don’t regret anything I’ve ever said. It’s just a shame things are misconstrued and I don’t get the opportunity to explain.”

Of course, that opportunity is exactly what the reporter from Daily Xtra was giving Hardy, leading to quite a bit of debate among fans and in the media over whether the reporter was out of line for asking the question, or whether Hardy’s answer was out of line. Time, for instance, sided with the interviewer.

For his part, Hardy later told The Daily Beast that it just wasn’t the right time or place to ask – or answer – that question.

“I’m under no obligation to share anything to do with my family, my children, my sexuality – that’s nobody’s business but my own. […] It’s important destigmatizing sexuality and gender inequality in the workplace, but to put a man on the spot in a room full of people designed purely for a salacious reaction? To be quite frank, it’s rude.”

Since then, Hardy has mostly kept out of the headlines. In May, 2019, it was revealed that he had been dropped from the Elton John biopic Rocketman in favor of star Taron Egerton, but that was reportedly because of Hardy’s age and Egerton’s superior singing skills. And in June, 2019, Hardy appeared alongside pal Prince Harry at a benefit concert, and later made waves by speaking out against elephant poaching on social media.

Killing it in his career and his family life and paying it forward in the world? Hardy may have given us one of the most uncomfortable interviews in recent memory, but so far, it seems to have turned out okay.

And now, it’s coming to the silver screen.

The new film adaptation, set to hit theaters on December 20th, is directed by Tom Hooper, who previously brought the musical Les Miserables to the screen in 2012. It stars a slew of A-list stars including Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Ian McKellan, Dame Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, and Jason Derulo, to name just a few.

If you’re completely unfamiliar with the Cats musical, you might be wondering why all these humanoid cats are bounding around and being all existential. Don’t worry: we can clear that up for you. According to the film’s official synopsis,

“A tribe of cats called the Jellicles must decide yearly which one will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new Jellicle life.”

Okay somehow the movie made more sense before we read that. Look, Taylor Swift is a cat now. What more do you need to know?

Based on the project’s star-studded cast, the producers of the Cats movie are clearly hoping that high-octane talent plus sleek CGI will equal big bucks at the box office much like another feline-centric blockbuster that came out to great success in 2019. But frankly, we have our doubts. Many have pointed out that the characters in the trailer have a truly uncanny, almost unsettling appearance, and it remains to be seen whether or not audiences will line up for a feature-length version of it. Sometimes a trailer can really freak people out.

The A.V. Club’s Britt Hayes summed up the situation succinctly, saying,

“Behold… a cinematic adaptation of one of the most dizzyingly atrocious musicals of all time. […] Bear witness… to the horrors of the unnatural feline-people as they sing and dance for your entertainment.”

In a behind-the-scenes look at the film, director Tom Hooper tries his best to make “digital fur technology” a thing.

The end result? According to a writeup from CNN,

“[It’s] an uncanny amalgamation of the actors’ human faces and a feline-adjacent body.”

As the LA Times reported, Gumbel’s thoughts on his show and his coworkers, which his coworkers got to read, were astute, darkly funny, and also, just plain mean.

Gumbel criticized Willard Scott, the jovial weatherman and the guy who gave shout-outs to viewers on their 100th birthdays, as a colleague who…

“Holds the show hostage to his assortment of whims, wishes, birthdays, and bad taste.”

He recommended Scott be banned from the show’s hard news-packed first hour, which Gumbel predicted Scott would find upsetting, a feeling that didn’t truly matter, because Gumbel claimed Scott couldn’t quote “leave this job and…get a better one.” Consumer reporter David Horowitz was what Gumble called “a walking cliché,” and Gumbel wasn’t at all a fan of film critic Gene Shalit’s celebrity interviews.

Except for some backstage personnel changes, things eventually blew over at Today, at least as far as Gumbel was concerned. He stayed with the show until 1997, nearly a decade after he wrote that catty memo.

In March 2019, Katherine Heigl made headlines when she was cast as the lead in a new CBS comedy, Our House. According to Variety, this is the first time the actress has been cast in a television comedy. But more than ten years ago, Heigl actually made many, many more headlines because of her comments about her role in a big screen comedy, comments that, at the time, seemed like they’d ruined her career overnight.

She was riding high back in 2007. The former Grey’s Anatomy star not only won an Emmy Award for best supporting actress in a drama series that year, she also began transitioning over to the big screen with her successful starring turn in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up opposite Seth Rogen.

Unfortunately, this movie-star-in-the-making’s rise to the top quickly unraveled following an infamously ill-fated interview with Vanity Fair the following January. In a move that still has us scratching our heads, Heigl openly trashed her own work in the coveted cover story, saying,

“It was a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a b—-; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women? Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie.”

Given the beloved flick’s undeniable success with audiences and critics, Heigl’s candid comments sparked immediate backlash. For their part, Apatow and Rogen both chimed in on the matter during a joint interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2009. The fan-favorite writer-director admitted he was confused over Heigl’s comments, saying,

“We never had a ‘fight’…Seth always says, it doesn’t make any sense [because] she improvised half her s—…[You think] at some point I’ll get a call saying ‘Sorry, I was tired’ and then the call never comes.'”

Meanwhile, Rogen felt Heigl’s criticisms were hypocritical considering the portrayal of women in her follow-up rom-com, The Ugly Truth.

Soon after proving her A-lister clout between Knocked Up and Grey’s Anatomy, Heigl also began to burn bridges in TV land after shockingly withdrawing her name from Emmy contention in 2008. The actress released a statement at the time, saying,

“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination. And in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.”

Understandably, Grey’s showrunner Shonda Rhimes was insulted by Heigl’s remarks.

Meanwhile, Heigl and Seth Rogen have since appeared to end their alleged feud. During an interview with Howard Stern in August 2016, the comedy actor looked back fondly on his experience working with Heigl, saying,

“As we were making the movie, honestly, I was like, ‘I would make a dozen movies with her…I was having a really good time, and then when I heard afterward that she didn’t like it, that she seemed to not like the process, and she did not like the end product either. I think when that happens…your trust feels somewhat betrayed.”

However, Rogen’s compassion for his former co-star’s subsequent plight has seemingly grown over the years, as he continued,

“I respect the fact that perhaps she realizes it has hurt her career, and I don’t want that to have happened to her at all.”

Heigl has since expressed regret for saying anything at all in that fateful Vanity Fair spread. In fact, Heigl told Howard Stern in 2016 that she went to therapy to deal with the stress of her, quote, “difficult” reputation. She later responded to Rogen’s kind remarks while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, saying,

“I think that he’s handled that so beautifully, and I just feel nothing but love and respect. And it was so long ago at this point, I just wish him so much goodness, and I felt that from him, too.”

Well, if Heigl and Rogen can bury the hatchet, perhaps there’s still hope for her reputation in Tinseltown.

In the article, Vogue gets personal with Z and we learn a lot of new things about Zendaya that you might not already know.

Like, Zendaya has a ‘wall of fame’ of polaroids taped on the stairs of her home, that includes co-star and everyone’s favourite Spider-Man, Tom Holland.

We also learn that Zendaya’s social life currently revolves around the “Euphoria” cast – a new HBO series in which she will be staring. Zendaya said she likes to get the group together for movie nights as well as binge true-crime podcasts – she’s a fan of Serial – and fall down Netflix rabbit holes, like the one in Abducted in Plain Sight.

We also learned that she’s never had her tarot read, although her grandparents got her colors read when she was two. She said to Vogue, QUOTE: “Apparently, my aura is mostly purple, which signals that you’re creative. And then there was a little bit of green, which is like, practical stuff. Business.”

Ok, this is all super cool, but this is not what really got our attention. Zendaya kicked off the interview by saying that she just got another job… her words, “I’m an Uber driver now.”

Zendaya explained to Vogue that while her car is in the shop she’s rented a massive black SUV for the purpose of picking up her half-sister Kizzi’s two daughters from school. So although she isn’t an uber driver that WE can actually call on ourselves, she picks up her 2 nieces from school everyday.

As they pulled up to pick up her 12 year old niece Imani from school, Zendaya said, “I’m going to honk the horn really loud, a bunch of times, and watch—she’ll be so embarrassed.”

Can you believe it? Zendaya is there rolling up to schools everyday on pick up duty?? So you guys, if you happen to be in the neighbourhood and hear a bunch of loud honks from a black SUV, look closely, it could be Zendaya! Although, let’s be honest, if you’re in LA, there’s a LOT of those!

It’s pretty clear and apparent how close Zendaya is with her family from the story and what a cool aunt she is. So although we won’t be able to maybe have Zendaya as our own Uber Driver some day,

Fast forward to now, Bella Thorne is throwing us a major curveball.

While Tana and Bella may not be girlfriend and girlfriend again just yet, it looks like they are “hanging” again.

Both girls shared the same pic on Instagram, which showed Tana pretending to lick Bella.

Bella captioned the pic quote, “We ain’t back together but we hangin.”

While Tana was a bit more forward, saying quote “can’t really imagine a world where i don’t love you.”

And we all know that Tana has always felt strongly about Bella. On her YouTube channel she said quote, “My entire life I 100% was like “I’m straight, I like d***, I like d***, I like d***”, and then I met Bella Thorne.”

So while it may not be officially official, it looks like we may be seeing more of these two together… AGAIN. And fans can’t contain their excitement.

Seems like everyone is really rooting for these two and you know what, we are too. After everything they have both been through in past relationships, we just want them to be happy.

Ariana Grande is going through a lot right now, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to let her anxiety get her down.

At this point, we all know that Ariana Grande has been going THROUGH it lately. Between mourning the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, and calling off her engagement to Pete Davidson, Ari has been forced to deal with a lot of public heartbreak in recent weeks.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we’re all pretty concerned for Ari and her well-being. I mean, so much heartbreak in such a short amount of time would take a serious toll on anyone, let alone someone in the public eye. However, Ariana took to social media yesterday to reassure fans that although she’s suffering with anxiety at the moment, she’s not going to let it take over her life.

Along with a photo of her rocking a shimmery green lipstick, Ariana wrote, QUOTE, “Can’t believe I almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today! Not today Satan! Not tomorrow or the next day either not no more u can suck my big green d*ck. finna sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye.” I know what you’re thinking: green lipstick is an interesting choice for someone who just broke up with her fiancé. We get it! But don’t forget that Ariana is starring in NBC’s 15th-anniversary celebration of the Broadway Show, Wicked, so the lip color totally makes sense. Plus, Ari teased the script on Instagram just a few days ago, so we know that she’s been busy working on that.

Although she’s not letting her anxiety get in the way of some exciting projects she has coming up, she is taking a bit of a social media break in an attempt to avoid seeing news that will upset her.

Ariana addressed fans saying, QUOTE, “Time to say bye bye again to the Internet for jus a little bit. It’s hard not to bump news n stuff that I’m not tryna see rn. It’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep goin. love u and thank u for bein here always. love.”
