these dreams should be more disconcerting than they feel to tiernay in the moment. his body hurts - hard travel has never suited him but after his escape from the pits of the maw in the abyss, it suited him even less. even in his dreams, he feels the ache of his legs as he sits by the armored....not-stranger.

not-stranger wears a face all too familiar to tiernay. the armor isn't what ivar would prefer, but it still looks dashing on the fighter that tiernay had tagged alongside with for the years before the incident happened.

(after the incident, it's strange to see him neatly combed and put together. the abyss had been harsh on tiernay's body, but had been ruinous on ivar's mind.)

" i am less afraid of what will result from the transformation if we fail to deal with the tadpole in a timely matter - less afraid than i should be, i think. i just don't know if this is the right way to do things. "

the words leave him as their minds link, reaching grasping fingers into the free spots of his thoughts, and he can pull free the tense and terse conversations with priestess gut and minthara, the noisy calamity of the goblin camp happening around them.

the intensity of the response piques his interest, his head turning a bit to look at his companion and the astonishment on his face.

" i - considered it briefly. there is a point to be made that these cultists have some knowledge of the tadpoles and how to deal with them. i am simply weighing my options. "

There was no day or night on the Astral Plane; no need for a campfire nor torches to illuminate the tents. Light came from everywhere and nowhere at once, casting no shadow as the warrior in plate armor came to settle down next to the wizard @tomepact.

“ Everybody knows that ceremorphosis is a harrowing process, enough to frighten even the most hardened adventurers of the realm ... no matter what you've been through. I encourage you to explore the tadpole's potentials because I know you're still nursing the loss of your magic. But it's natural to be scared. I won't think less of you for it, and there's no need for you to pretend — ”

His sentence cut short; expression twisted by a flash of pain as psionic brainwaves flared and merged spontaneously like a two-headed calf, as difficult to unify as it was to separate. He quickly unlatched his consciousness from that of Tiernay's, but the split second of connection was enough to provoke a reaction.

“ You are not seriously considering it?! ” The fighter's eyes widened, performing shock and disbelief. “ To be frightened is one thing, but to work with the Absolute cultist, no matter what she said she could offer — that is not the way. ”

what would your muse say is their biggest flaw? and what's your muse's relationship like with their parents? for volucia

she would say her biggest flaw, besides her curse, is her tendency to be too lenient on certain people in her life. she lets herself get pushed to her breaking point by people who she should have put her foot down about before it happened. it ends up being a flaw that haunts her for a very, very long time.

her relationship with her parents is a bit fraught. she's from cael morrow, a place known for its history of being tied deeply to elven culture and the earth around it, and she left that culture to go to avalir and become one of their top wizards. her parents are disappointed she left, but proud she made something of herself -- but definitely also did the thing of saying they expected her to come back sooner when she did come back.

what's your muse's favorite weird food combo? ( for tiernay )

oh, it depends on the world he's in. for his home setting, in ikkonys, his preferred food is weird for the city he's in - there's a neighboring town that specializes in farming small drakes and one of tiernay's favorite foods is a hot pot style food made with that and fruit from the same region grown in dragon fire scorched soil.

in the forgotten realms, he really likes eldritch berry custard and the traditional soups its often served beside in neverwinter.

he's a huge fan of soups and things like that, from his childhood and translating into his adulthood of traveling often and thus needing to be able to enjoy stews made on the road.

the food is better than he's had in many adventures, though more filling than he's used to with the meals he eats back home. he turns the page in his tome, studying writing that is much older than the work he does now. it's a pain to restudy things he should have known like the back of his hand.

" they are something to be proud of if you're a warrior. not everyone shares your sentiment, friend, and many normal villagers dislike being reminded of the extent of damage a body can sustain. "

as it is, he folds the book shut and sets it aside. the food would be ready soon, and he might as well settle in for the night. as such, he unmasks himself, breathes deep at the sensation of cool night are on the broad scars of his face. it's still a frightening sensation after this time.

the wizard is always reading. there is nothing wrong with the book-learning type, of course. kront just prefers the more direct approach. weapons that he can swing and hold in his hands, and blows that land on his body, teaching him how to avoid them the next time. there are many sayings and cautionary tales about wizards, how they climb so high in their towers only to fall the hardest. sometimes kront thinks it's because the damages they deal with are so hard to understand, so they don't learn fast enough. but tiernay got up, more than the strange gold eyes, learning to live with the broken body. kront might not understand magic, but he understands that.

“kront not bothered. kront think you bothered.” it might come as a surprise that kront is a decent cook, as long as you're okay with always eating roast or stew. he is best at working with simplicity: roughly chopped vegetables and big chunks of meat cooked above consistent fire that he shares with tiernay. “tiernay should be proud of scars. they don't kill you. you are strong wizard.”
