“I ended up becoming a risk analyst.”
“Oh, that sounds really interesting. What does that entail?”
“Yeah, so I work for like a big insurance firm and–”
pennywise taking stan’s form to provoke bill’s guilt during chapter 2 is equivalent to pennywise luring richie into a dark creepy room by making itself look like eddie in chapter 1; IT does that because richie would do anything to protect eddie and bill would just as quickly do anything to have stan back
don’t even try, cause none of y’all can chance my mind
i just think it’s funny that eddie is like “yes i’m straight yes i’m married to a woman” but after one shot he’s like “let’s take our shirts off and kiss”
Hey, I'm very new on tumblr and have little know-how in what I'm doing, but I need to vent something because it's driving me nuts. This dude told me Stephen King said recently that he never intended for Richie or Eddie to be gay or LGBT at all, like in subtext or anything, and I haven't seen that ANYWHERE. Have you? Because I sure haven't. I've read the book and the subtext is far too clear for one thing, and I don't believe King didn't just hint at anything. Even Andy talks about the subtext.
Okay so I did my own digging and luckily I was listening to a podcast that was discussing It chapter 2 and they talked about reddie. They mentioned it was actually Stephen Kings idea to make Richie gay BUT that's not what I found.
This is interesting.
Stephen King did an interview for Vanity Fair, released September 9th, 2019. Here:
"As part of that more heartfelt finale, Muschietti and screenwriter Gary Dauberman also added a character beat that reframes the entire relationship between “Trashmouth” Tozier (played as a kid by Finn Wolfhard) and Eddie Kaspbrak (played as an adult by James Ransone and as a kid by Jack Dylan Grazer.) In one of the final images of the film, the audience learns Tozier harbored a secret, unrequited crush on his friend, and has been struggling his whole life to accept his sexuality, using his sarcasm and wisecracks as a shield.
In King’s original novel, a young gay man named Adrian Mellon is brutally murdered—a killing inspired by a true Maine hate crime. That same scene opens It: Chapter Two, showing how cruelty and fear can nourish more of the same. King liked the Richie addition as a bookend for the movie, even though he admits that he didn’t build an element of unrequited romance into Eddie and Richie’s relationship in the book. “No, I never did,” King said. “But again, it’s one of those things that’s kind of genius, because it echoes the beginning. It comes full circle.”"
Notice how he admits he never intended to build an unrequited romance between Eddie and Richie's relationship? To be honest, he could've worded it differently. For example, "Riche and Eddie weren't gay for each other. That wasn't the relationship I intended."
Instead, he explained that he didn't intend an unrequited romance.
okay ik we’ve all analyzed the hammock scene™ to death but can we please talk about how long richie actually lets eddie poke his cheek with his foot? like um?? he was so resigned to it and only threw hands once eddie goes for his glasses, richie is too soft for him
okay i know i just posted it fan art with basically the same concept but as it turns out i really love drawing bill hader n james ransone and got briefly obsessed
Richie holding Eddie’s ankle like this is secret dating CONFIRMED
Like Richie thinks he’s being slick because Ben and Bev can’t see but has apparently totally forgotten about the rest of them are over there on the right and Stan is rolling his eyes so hard because they really think the Losers don’t ALL KNOW
Stan’s eye roll tells me that this happens way too much.
And let’s be real.. if Eddie really wanted the hammock alone, he would have just pushed Richie out. But he didn’t because he doesn’t want the hammock to himself. He wants to share it with Richie.
I got the clip from @eddiesgazeboessga on insta! Go give them some love
stan has known about richie being gay and his love for eddie and how he’ll never do anything about it. he also has known about eddie being gay and his love for richie and how he’ll never do anything about it. that’s why whenever the two bicker he just rolls his eyes and ignores their dumb gay asses in this essay i will
Also the “are you gonna be like this the entire time we’re home?” Sounded to me like Eddie and Richie had plans to leave together and Eddie wants to fast forward to when Richie is less annoying
wait omg youre so right fhjdkdshj thats married behaviour
