Hi, everyone. I’m having a friend (that’s me) post this, as I’m slightly worried about my job. I should be okay if I were to post it myself, but I would rather not take any chances.

I am a cast member at Disney World. If you are keeping up with the news, you would be well aware that Florida’s cases of COVID are significantly on the rise. We have crossed the 10,000 mark, with 3900 new cases in a single day. Our governor did not do as much as he could have to help reduce the spread of the virus. (I am not here to argue about what DeSantis did or did not do, that is not the point of the post)

With the cases on the rise, Disney opening right now is simply not safe. Disney Springs has already opened, and guests are not listening to the social distancing procedures, or the required mask rule. In fact, today we learned that a guest spit on a cast member when the cast member tried to enforce the mask rule.

Not only are the guests not safe to us, we are not safe to each other. Our breakrooms aren’t always big, depending on the area. For example, at my work location, oftentimes, you’re sitting with people that you don’t know because there simply isn’t the space. There is not the space to accommodate social distancing measures among cast members.

While Disney is going to do their best to protect cast members, at the end of the day, they can only do so much.

So, I would very much appreciate if you could sign this petition, as well as give it a reblog. Unfortunately most guests are opposing this, so we need to show that a lot of the general public supports the opening date being pushed back.
