Samantha Traynor Appreciation Day 1
Day 1- Colonist Upbringing:  I chose the Skyllian Blitz as a focus on Samantha Traynor’s colonist upbringing. With a 26-year-old Sam, the Blitz would have occurred when she was around 16. I imagine the Skyllian Blitz as a September 11-type of event, especially for other human colonies: something to watch unfold while hugging your family tight.
Shouting, Samantha Traynor burst through the front door. “Mum! Dad! Are you watching?!”
A 16-year-old Sam was clad in a burnt orange school uniform, a shield embroidered on the front left pocket. The black slacks were dusty around the ankle cuffs from her abrupt exit out her friend Nicole’s skycar at the end of the cul-de-sac. Her short—normally neat—bob of black hair was tousled from the impromptu run.
Running was highly out of the ordinary for Sam (and not just because she was an asthmatic). As was Sam home at noon on a school day (she wasn’t known to bunk off school. Ever.)
Sam’s schoolbag was already half-slung over her shoulder before she abandoned it by the coat rack. Black (dusty) shoes were kicked off next to the door as the girl tore down the hallway of the prefab.
“No running in the house!” Priya Suresh-Traynor barked back, more strain in her voice than usual.
Then again, it also wasn’t usual for Sam’s mother to be home this early in the day.
Nothing about today was usual.

[Read it on AO3]
(Reposting with correct title - thanks to @machiavelliwithglasses)
Horizon Central Spaceport was a lot busier than I remembered it.
It’s a funny feeling, returning home for the first time in a while, isn’t it? Seeing what’s changed, what’s stayed the same… More the former than the latter, in my case, even if I’d only been gone a few years. New arrivals have been settling Horizon at what feels like an exponential rate. (Not literally exponentially, of course, but still remarkably steep). When I’d left for Earth, back in ‘77, the Interplanetary Terminal had been practically deserted, only a few ships a week coming and going; the passenger lounges positively cavernous.
Horizon Central Spaceport in 2185, though: genuinely abuzz. Still not as bad as Heathrow or Arcturus, not by a longshot, but the whole place feels more alive. Bustling. Different.

Re: how Ashley/Traynor would start: I once read a super cute fic that pointed out that Ashley was stationed on Sam's home planet of Horizon during ME2...Sam goes home to see the family and meets the only other Alliance officer on the planet at the time. Can't remember what it was called but it was adorable!
!!!!!!
She was there during the attacks! Holy shit, I forgot. Thank you for reminding me.
And the circumstances are less than ideal, but hey, it’s Mass Effect. They could meet in the most adorable way before the attack so yay!!!!!
I’ll check AO3 for the fic, it might be there

Out here, it’s like living out of a shoe box.

Traynorweek2017 Day 3 Prompt: Education and Career
Hey Mum, Hey Dad! You’ll be happy to hear that you offspring finally made it back to the Homeworld!
Just kidding: actually stuck at an customs control station at the L1 point. Looks like someone’s cough tripped something in the quarantine scanners and now they’re keeping the whole shuttle up here as a security precaution. Space travel, bloody nightmare.
Though if I have to be stuck anywhere, you admittedly could do a lot worse than staring down at Sol-III.

I’m really late for Sam Week but here are my favorite SAM pairings:
-Sam/FShep: I ended up romancing Sam as FShep after Thane was my LI. I was heartbroken and didn’t know if getting another LI during ME3 was the right thing to do… But I ended up loving their romance so much. It’s cute and has no stress-inducing moments; it’s low pressure. It also gets really tender and serious at the end. Sam just… gives Fshep her heart, trusting her not to break it. -Sam/Diana: Coming by to see Diana and hearing her talk to Sam is my favorite thing. I like that Sam is curious enough to ask Diana about her work and I like that Diana is honest about what she does. And it makes me smile, knowing that they’re on the same ship but could very well flirt the entire time via comm.  -Sam/Kasumi: LISTEN. Don’t tell me they wouldn’t be amazing together! They could control the entire galaxy if they wanted to! I keep thinking about Kasumi bringing Sam little gifts from her jobs and Sam making the technology Kasumi uses even better and more reliable. Just constantly trying to show the other how much they care. -Sam/EDI: Eh, so much of what makes them work as a couple is all in canon. They’re already interested in each other. -Sam/Tali: Tech geeks who have to find solutions together, who rely on each other, who end up appreciating the other and developing the biggest crush???? Yes please. -Sam/Aria: Okay this one might be a bit weird but I legit think that Sam could really stand up to Aria and gain her respect. She’s exactly the type of person who Aria believes is beneath her at first but ends up being one of the most impressive people she has ever met (and she’s met a lot of people…). Fireworks and all would ensue. -Sam/Miranda: They almost worked together on the Lazarus Project. I think Sam would have the biggest crush on Miranda, who in turn would find Sam charming and easy to get along with. Imagine: Miranda is always brutally honest and Sam is the kind to blurt out the truth at the most unexpected times. I think it will make Miranda trust her. Sam will also love Miranda for who she is, never asking her to change. -Sam/Ashley: I have no idea how it would start but I am aaaall for it!

Fishbone Pub _ teaser by fishbone76
Why has no one ever made fanart of Sam working at the pub (as she has mentioned in the Citadel DLC) during her study time? Wonder no more because I’m working on one But  who’s that person she’s serving a drink?
