VLAD VLAD VLAD! You're stuck in the shadows ... so very misunderstood.

One blocking decision that stood out for me the most was the use of "shadows" on Vlad's part. Mr. Clark directed the actors and actresses very well and Vincente did a great job styling  his hair. During the first song that Vlad sings, he is very clearly under the spot light, however, they way his hair is styled as well as the way he tilts his head causes shadows to cover his face, creating an effect that he is in the shadows, covered by the darkness.

Also, when Vlad and Mary we're doing their first duet, Vlad was situated on the right of Mary, causing him to be on the "darker" side of the stage. This simple blocking creates the effect that she is at the edge of good and is pressing into the dark side. The shadows again cover Vlad's face causing the effect of him being evil and "the prince of darkness" while light pours down on Mary.
