been in my drafts for ages, so while i work on part 21 of spark up!, you get this. @hyuckheart uwu

so u and lele are Ultimate Rivals at your neighbourhood’s favourite hangout - Laser Tag

you two have never gone one round without one of you killing the other

and one of you always ends up winning top dog.

chenle has won the last 4 rounds, and today’s the day you take over

you’ve made it your mission to edge chenle out — it’s your time to shine

you’re all serious and prepping when you realize chenle’s brought some friends

and they’re all talking about you and you get ANGRY

because chenle’s doing that laugh he does and his friends are chuckling with him

and it’s directed towards you! you see them sneaking very non-subtle glances >:(

so you clench your jaw and turn around, tying your shoe that you purposely stepped on to slip the laces out

when you feel a tap on your shoulder

you look back to see a lele rubbing his neck, smiling at you

“my friends think that you look too nice to be a laser tag killer.”

you scoff and stand, rolling your eyes at the bleach-blonde boy

“your friends think? or are you just trying to discourage me from ending your winning streak”

he stumbles back, laughing, wide eyes

“no no, that was me trying to compliment you”

“compliment my laser tag skills then”

he stills and then erupts in laughter again, getting weird looks from his friends despite this being his usual behaviour

“if you win… you get all the hype you want and i’ll never shoot you again”

your eyes widen and you posture up, ready to accept his deal

when he interrupts that thought

“— but if i win, you have to call me “zhong chenle, king of all lasers ever”

and your eyes just gleam with your goddamned competitive spirit

that always gets the best of you,,,,,

“you have a deal, zhong”

“eyyyyy”

and he grabs your hand, shaking it animatedly

before running back to his friends with a thumbs up

and then the staff member comes in and powers up the machines, opening the doors to the arena

and you charge in at full speed, wanting to get to the high ground that you’ve basically claimed as your own over the many many games you’ve played

once you finish climbing the ladders and ramps you sigh with exhaustion, lifting up your gun and surveying the course below

one of chenle’s friends made the rookie mistake of wearing white - he glowed like a lamp under the black lights and so did his vest

so you popped him, with his cry of dismay

“eliminated - na jaemin”

“GODDAMN”

you smiled and kept watching, racking up the points

“eliminated - lee donghyuck”

“CHENLE YOU LITTLE BITCH”

“eliminated - lee jeno”

“JISUNG WHAT THE FUCK”

“eliminated - mark lee”

“who’s y/n?”

“eliminated - park jisung”

“u kno chenle,,, thought we had something special.”

“eliminated - huang renjun”

“chenle ur ULTIMATE ENEMY just killed your best chinese friend how do you feel”

until it’s just you and chenle

but you have no idea where the usually loud, rambunctious boy is

due to him literally becoming dead quiet all of a sudden, a complete 180

you’re beginning to get nervous and jumpy up on your elevated perch, debating whether to go down and do some ground work,

when you feel some extra weight on the thin wooden floor behind you

“hey y/n!” and a loud, dolphin laugh

IT’S CHENLE

“you think i forgot this is your favourite spot?”

and you just freeze, the goosebumps on your arms almost painful

becAUSE YOU ARE NOT CALLING THIS DOLPHIN BOY THE KING OF ALL LASERS EVER

over your dead body!!!!!

you would literally rather die at this point

and so you stand up, placing your free hand on mr. zhong’s shoulder

because if you can’t beat em

you gotta play dirty

and you plant one right on the mischievous boy’s unsuspecting lips

which isn’t the worst thing you’ve ever done, despite scaring the shit out of the poor boy

because let’s be really real here - he’s cute. you’re cute. he’s funny. you appreciate that.

taking the time provided by lele’s kiss-induced shock to bring up your gun and shoot him straight in the chest sensor

“eliminated - zhong chenle”

and you draw back, smiling wide and looking up at the startled boy

“w-what”

and you tippytoe up to whisper (yell) in his ear

“y/n, ruler of the laser dome!!!!”

and he doesn’t even react

so the lights come on and you just see chenle blushing furiously, touching his lips

not moving despite the announcer ordering you out

“come on chenle we gotta go,,,,”

“oh….. ok”

and you guys leave together, going to the exit area after dumping your guns and vests in the cubbies

and chenle just reaches out, grabbing your hand before the end of the exit hallway where his friends were probably waiting to beat him up for losing

“y/n, why’d you do that”

“uh so i could kill you”

no way you’d admit it to him that you maybe. had a crush on him

maybe.

“y/nnnn”

jokes you’re weak and he’s cute and flustered and you can’t be that mean to the boy, despite being rivals

“maybe because i think you’re cute. maybe. but mostly to kill you”

he blushes again and looks down at his feet, rambling a mile a minute

“y-you know,,, i would have kissed you back but i was scared. not scared of kissing, of course, i’m mature,,,,,, scared of getting shot. not really scared of getting shot i had no idea you were going to do that. maybe just scared of you. not of you, that sounds weird, aaaah…….”

“chenle. lele. calm down. breathe.”

he giggles and looks back up at you, hope in his eyes

“can i have a redo? don’t shoot me this time”

and he just leans down without giving you time to answer, giving you a quick peck

because let’s be honest here he’s still scared and he’s shaking a little bit like a chihuahua

“chenle i don’t even have a gun how would i shoot you”

“i’m still nervous, ok, please stop”
