oh and Nemora after KOTET! girl found out her mother is dead and she lost her father BUT HEY, BROTHER IS ALIVE AND HAPPY (kinda) AND DOESN'T SERVE EMPIRE (fully) AND IS WITH HIS CHILHOOD-SWEETHEART BOYFRIEND!
This was my piece for the @cloneoczine from around a year ago! Unfortunately the zine failed to come to fruition so we were given permission to post our pieces. Regardless of the outcome, everyone worked very hard on this and it was a delight to participate in!
I saw your post about Maei being deaf and as someone who has hearing loss that actually made me very happy to see! Also her design is nice! And I would love to learn more about her 👀
hey anon!! i’m so glad my art made you feel seen! maei is very precious to me so thank you for appreciating her <3
i have so many little facts and tidbits about her that have no home so i’m currently working on a little infographic with key facts… but for now, have a quick outfit design sketch with not one but TWO hairstyles!!
(p.s. she is from lothal. this is important for two reasons: 1, blue hair because you cannot tell me that ezra’s hair is black, and 2, loth-wolves because they’re cool.)
I fell in love with Ailani and blacked out infront of an open medibang canvas and now here we are. I used one of the Padme dresses as a reference but hated the hair so there’s ALOT of changes. I’m not sure how well I captured her features so please don’t be afraid to giveth criticism.
I don’t think this scene has been talked about enough(or even at all.) To me it’s very telling that Leida looks to Mon in this scene. The entire show she’s been a rebellious/spoiled teen trying to stick it to her mom anyway she can. Leida always makes it clear that she prefers Perrin because he lets her do whatever she wants and makes Mon out to be the villain. Yet when all is said and done and she’s meeting her potential future husband she turns to Mon, not Perrin. It’s hard to read her face, but there’s no malice, no spite, and she turns back just as soon as she looked over. I think that all Leida wants is for her mother to see her, to be proud of her. I’ve worked with kids my whole life and despite what they say, they always gravitate to the parents/teachers/counselors/guardians who enforce (healthy) boundaries, who don’t let them get away with anything and everything. A lot of her actions are clearly a desperate grab for Mon’s attention. The fact that Leida glances at Mon and then Mon glances at Leida right after pretty much sums up their relationship. Both looking when the other person is turned away, always just missing each other’s gaze. I hope Mon takes sometime to reach out to her daughter before it’s too late. I hope Leida can start to wake up and escape this mindset in the next season. I hope she turns to her mother in full and reaches out for help. I’m really interested in seeing where her character is headed.
andor is a show that assumes that its audience are, by and large, adults with cognitive thinking and critical literacy skills, and can handle darker, complex themes that explore things like the brutality of revolution and the reality of a fascist state. it's a restaurant going “here's a seven-course meal made with technical excellence, because we think you're smart enough to handle the subtleties of its flavours without our handholding” and yet still some of the Star Wars fandom insist on standing up and shouting “actually I reject that assumption! I want the food paste you feed babies! In fact I think this universe should have more cocomelon shit!”. embarrassing self-own fr. couldn’t be me.
