And now, Mayor Eric Adams can say he’s among the elite — and infamous — political figures to have been spoofed by “Saturday Night Live.”

In a sketch from Jan. 15′s episode, New York City’s leader — played by Chris Redd — talks at length about his swagger during a press conference, much like the real Adams.

“The city’s never had a mayor with so much swagger before,” asserts Redd’s Adams while hyped up by episode host Ariana DeBose’s City Hall spokeswoman. “I mean, y’all see me outside — the peacoats, the scarfs, the shine on the bald head, yo. You can tell I have swagger. Keeps me healthy. See, the city’s been suffering from what I like to call a swag-less existence.”

Storms clearing in southeastern Florida; tornado hits Fort Myers

Most of South Florida, including Broward County, was placed under a tornado watch for several hours Sunday after a tornado struck southwest Florida near Iona in Fort Myers.

A tornado warning issued for central Broward and Palm Beach counties expired at 12:15 p.m., according to The National Weather Service in Miami.

The severe weather came as showers and thunderstorms moved across the region ahead of a strong cold front.

High surf is expected along Palm Beach County beaches into Monday. There is a risk for rip currents up and down the coast.

16 and Pregnant Alum Jordan Cashmyer Dead at 26: 'Our Hearts Are Truly Broken,' Says Mother

Jordan Cashmyer, a young woman who was previously featured on MTV's 16 and Pregnant, has died. She was 26.

On Sunday, Jordan's mother Jessica Cashmyer announced the news of her death in a statement on Facebook, which was written from the account of Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr., Jessica's late husband and Jordan's father.

"Last night I received a call no parent ever wants," Jessica began her post, which was written alongside a black and white photograph of Jordan.

"My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old," she continued. "Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER."

Those of us who’ve been watching Saturday Night Live for our entire lives would have no problem delivering a spontaneous TED Talk about what makes a good host. We certainly know what makes a bad one. Some say professional athletes should never get the chance to embarrass themselves —and us — no matter how famous they are. (Crack timing on the field rarely correlates to comic timing in the studio). Actors who are so A-list they don’t care whether we can tell they’re openly reading their lines off the cue cards are another class of bummer host (cough Robert De Niro cough cough). Lorne Michaels himself infamously identified Steven Seagal as the worst host the show had ever had. But if we know the kinds of people who tend to make bad hosts, we also know who’s probably going to be great: people who already have experience performing live. People who refuse to squander what could be their very first introduction to millions of viewers. People who are triple threats.

Tennis Hall of Famer Chris Evert diagnosed with ovarian cancer

(AP) – Former tennis star Chris Evert says she was diagnosed with an early stage of ovarian cancer.

The 67-year-old Evert revealed the illness in a story posted Friday on ESPN.com; she is an on-air announcer for ESPN.

She learned of the cancer last month and began chemotherapy treatments this week.

“I’ve lived a very charmed life. Now I have some challenges ahead of me,” Evert said. “But I have comfort in knowing the chemotherapy is to ensure that cancer does not come back.”

Winter storm warnings issued; more than a foot of snow anticipated across region

While most of Sunday is expected to see uneventful weather across the region, a major winter storm tracking north from the Carolinas is expected to bring steady - occasionally heavy - snow across the region Sunday night and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Snowfall amounts of more than a foot are anticipated in the western counties, the Weather Service said.

A massive volcano erupts near Tonga, triggering a tsunami advisory for the West Coast

A massive underwater volcano that erupted just before sundown Friday sent waves several feet high smashing into the shores of the Pacific island nation of Tonga and triggered tsunami advisories from Australia to Canada, including the U.S. West Coast.

Plumes from the explosion reached more than 12 miles above sea level, according to the Tonga Geological Services. At its widest, the cloud caused by the ash and steam reached about 150 miles across, making it easily seen from satellites. The eruption was so massive that its shockwaves were felt as far away as Mount Hood in Oregon.

Sinead O'Connor hospitalized, days after teenage son's death

Sinéad O'Connor has been admitted to the hospital, one week after her 17-year-old son was found dead.

The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer told fans on Thursday night that she was heading to hospital to receive help after sharing in a series of disturbing Twitter posts that she planned to take her own life. "I've decided to follow my son. There is no point living without him. Everything I touch, I ruin. I only stayed for him. Alphonso Davies: Myocarditis from COVID will keep Bayern Munich star out for Canada-USMNT World Cup qualifier

Alphonso Davies has been in the middle of another stellar season for Bayern Munich but things are now on pause with club and country due to his recovery from COVID-19. Davies was diagnosed with mild myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart, upon a follow-up examination from the club after his return from isolation.

The Canadian soccer federation confirmed the diagnosis on Friday and ruled their star left back out for their upcoming triple-fixture of Concacaf World Cup qualifiers against Honduras (Jan. 27), United States (Jan. 30) and El Salvador (Feb. 2) -- all streaming on Paramount+. Not having Davies is quite the blow for a Canada side that sits atop the Octagonal. John Herdman will now need to rely even more on the hot form of Jonathan David for these qualifiers.

Fortnite for iOS, Android Enters Closed Beta Testing With Touchscreen Support on Nvidia's GeForce Now

Fortnite is one step closer to making an unofficial return on iOS, as the popular battle royale game enters closed beta testing on Nvidia's GeForce Now service. The game streaming service is testing the ability to stream a touchscreen-friendly version of Fortnite via Apple's Safari browser on both iPhone and iPad. The service will allow gamers on Apple's smartphones and tablets access to the title for the first time since it was removed from the App Store in 2020. Nvidia and Epic Games are yet to reveal when gamers will be able to stream Fortnite on iOS devices.

Nvidia announced on Thursday that it was working with Epic Games to bring Fortnite to GeForce Now, the streaming service that is available for download via the Play Store on Android devices. iPhone and iPad users do not have access to the GeForce Now app, and must stream games in Safari instead. The service's website states that the game is in a “limited time closed beta” for iOS on Safari and Android smartphones, and users can register to play a touchscreen optimised version of Fortnite.

Dogecoin jumps 9% after Elon Musk says it can be used to buy Tesla merchandise

The price of dogecoin jumped more than 15% on Friday before paring gains after Tesla began accepting the cryptocurrency as payment for some merchandise.

Early Friday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter that the electric carmaker’s merchandise can be purchased with dogecoin.

Dogecoin topped $0.20 a coin at around 01:19 ET before paring some of those gains, according to Coindesk data. It was up more than 9% at $0.18 at 07:06 ET.

Epstein-Barr virus may be the cause of Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that attacks the myelin sheaths protecting neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Until now, there has been no definitive cure to it.

A new study led by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health researchers suggests that MS is likely caused by infection with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV is a herpes virus that can cause infectious mononucleosis and establish a latent, lifelong host infection.
