Today … two rides … Part I - Bormio > Gavia > Bormio - as the weather was again looking ominous, we decided to stay on this side of the valley … we did get some snow and tough conditions near the top of Gavia but a Hot Chocolate and seeing @tozesan at the top to get jackets, extra gloves, newspaper etc etc made the descent bearable. Part II - tomorrow we were meant to climb up to Lago di Cancano but the weather forecast is for rain … so we decided to pedal up after some lunch so that we could stay dry and spend our last full day on tour in comfort with a hike and lunch before transferring back to B.A.D. Another day in beautiful Bormio - the weather played along again and stayed dry (with no snow) for the entire ride up to Stelvio, both sides. The beauty of riding this late in the summer is that there were almost NO cars! How is the serenity. Tomorrow more mountains await. Transfer day - from Snowy Davos - over Flüela Pass down to sunny Santa Maria Val Müstair where we had a lovely lunch before the riders headed up Umbrail Pass … in more sun. The weather-person-man-woman has not been too exact this past week. Today, they were calling for snow at the top of Stelvio and that’s what we got! What an epic climb and made that much more memorable because of the conditions. Chapeau to the riders for ticking off a tough mountain. Just like that - 3 stages of the @haute_route Davos is OVER … what a great event, the weather, mountains, road conditions, our riders & staff and varied courses all made for another fantastic tour. Haute Route Stage 3 : 15km with 850m of ascent Davos to Flüela Pass Col : Flüela Pass 2,383m It may be over for some of our clients but for others we head over to the Dolomites.
