Materiality is more then just the articulation of space but a tool used by the architect to reveal an image.

The seduction of image

A reflection of the trees that line the street perhaps? A place of opportunity and experimentation.   Do we, as architects take opportunities to build too bare the personal desires that we’ve been holding within. A play with structure, irrelevant to the program however a contribution to the city. An opportunity to explore an idea thats been withheld. As it challenges the material realm it remains  a space of function. Elevated off the street, im transported from one space to another. Vessels of Architecture.

Sendai demonstrates the other visual and aesthetic dimension that material can attain. Materiality can be understood as the excess applied to material elevating it to a level of cultural understanding. ~  It is more then just an articulation of space but a tool to reveal an image. Japan.   To transcend ‘boundaries’ and to nurture ‘places’
