Middle Class Dental
Middle Class Dental
Tumblr media
Where does the middle class find affordable dental care? It seems the system always favors either low income residents and those who are financially comfortable or just plain wealthy.
Far too many people have to pick and choose their dental care because of their financial situation. What we see is dental care programs for low income households, these are common and necessary.
And as for those who are well off, well we know how that goes
Either they have full coverage dental insurance or they have the cash in hand to cover any dental expenses at will. So where does the middle class fare in all of this?
Middle class income statistics in the United States are always changing. In 2021/2022, the definition of the term “middle class” or “middle income” is a single American who earns approximately $30,000 to $90,000 per year. These specific numbers are open to discussion but, in general, this annual income range is fairly accurate.
Excessive inflation has affected every aspect of life in the united States and dental care is certainly not immune. The middle class was already having difficulty paying for dental work prior to nationwide price increases and this situation continues to worsen.
Industry wide price increases are influencing everything from cleanings, whitening’s, extractions, veneer installation, fillings, crowns, root canal procedures, and braces or Invisalign style tooth straightening. The middle class is forced to make decisions based on cost of service in many cases, and sometimes periodic maintenance of the mouth gets sidelined because of price.
So how the an individual living on a middle class income afford proper dental care whether it’s a periodic cleaning or a restorative procedure to alleviate discomfort. The options are a paid dental insurance, a subscription to a dental discount program, or cash from the savings account.
About the Middle Class
In the USA, the middle class is defined as an economic group of individuals who earn an annual income that falls between the upper and lower income classes; this includes professional workers, small business owners, unskilled laborers, and their families. The middle class still holds a slight majority among the population in the USA but this has changed in the last fifty years, decreasing over time.
The middle class is decreasing in overall size because of an increase in numbers at the very bottom and top of the economic range. Some examples of middle class occupations are as follows: carpenter, mechanic, mason, electrician, office manager, clerk, retail manager, truck driver, maintenance technician, school teacher, bank teller, restauranteur, dental hygienist, law enforcement, registered nurse, sales representative, and a variety other occupations in the same salary range.
Suggestions for the Middle Class
First and foremost, the best advice for middle class citizens for dental care is an employee sponsored dental insurance program. Employers pay a portion of your premium as a benefit of employment and the group benefits are typical well worth it. The employer withdrawals a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly premium from the employees paycheck and everything else is automatic.
These employer-sponsored dental insurance plans typically pay all costs for routine cleanings, and a portion of the cost for all other types of dental work like filings, crowns, and extractions for example. The most elite group dental insurance may cover larger percentages but rarely is everything fully covered.
The biggest drawback to this form of savings is the limitation set on the individual group dental insurance. These can vary substantially depending on your employer’s choice in providers. Larger employers enrolled in larger group plans tend to fare better than the “little guy” or small business.
Another limitation on the employer supplemented insurance plans is the waiting period. Most plans have waiting periods for some or all of their benefits aside from standard cleanings. This is an important detail if you’re in need of emergency dental work today

The other suggestion for those living on middle class income are the discount dental programs found online. This is a viable option if your employer does not offer you a dental insurance plan.
These plans cost less overall but have many more stipulations and much less in terms of benefits. They also can be subject to a smaller number of participation providers in your local area. The fine print is critical if you plan on going this route.

Are Penny Stocks in a Bear Market?
Are Penny Stocks in a Bear Market?
Stock market turmoil is here whether you've noticed it or not. The downturn of the entire stock market is happening for six months already, the professionals are well aware and the retail investing community is unfortunately learning the hard way. Are penny stocks in a bear market along with the rest of the market? I think the answer is obvious but some investors may not agree.
Identifying Penny Stocks
For the sake of argument, we will consider any security trading for less than five dollars per share a penny stock. Many times this is open for some discussion as some financiers consider stocks trading below ten dollars as a penny stock. Five hundred pennies is where I draw the line. Identifying penny stocks below this level will put this topic into perspective much better. As the entire market has trended down in recent months for various reasons, the penny stock world has been affected more than the remainder of the market.
Penny stocks entered a bear market as early as September of 2021. Some financiers refer to penny stocks as growth stocks. It provides a more general term for low priced securities not necessarily pinning them to their price per share. Well established, well seasoned, consistently profitable companies are the exact opposite of growth companies. So a penny stock company is in fact an unseasoned, not yet established, unprofitable company. This description makes it easier to understand why penny stocks are in a bear market.
Is It a Good Time to Invest?
Some people find a silver lining in current market conditions particularly in the realm of penny stocks or growth companies. The entire spectrum of low priced securities is down therefore making it a good time to invest if you can weather some downtime. The problem with investing in an unprofitable company during times of economic downturn is cash burn. Cash burn, or using shareholder funds to finance the company when it is unprofitable only adds to the risk with the penny stockers. This situation of using company cash resources is exaggerated when the surrounding economy is struggling.
In recent years, retail investors have pumped cash into low priced stockers thanks to a high energy economy and recent stimulus check being deposited in checking accounts across the country. The pandemic left many cash heavy, internet savvy citizens trying their luck in the stock market. New investors are always drawn to low cost securities first by default. This novelty seems to have worn off for now and created a penny stock bear market. As free cash dissipates from the market, the growth companies were the first to feel the pain. Combine the lack of fresh cash flow with an overall economic downturn and you have an elevated risk for sure.
The likelihood that penny stocks can pull out of this dilemma is not very good in the short term, however those that can withstand the risk and are also capable of exhibiting patience may be rewarded handsomely in the long run. You can ignore the penny stock bear market and try to capitalize on it, or not...

Wasting Time with Penny Stocks?
Are Penny Stocks a Waste of Time?
Penny stocks sound attractive from the moment you hear that name. You can own stock in a legitimate company for a penny or less. This could be your chance to find the next Amazon or Google for just a penny. But are penny stocks a waste of time? The intrigue of instant wealth pulls retail investors into the stock market each and every day in search of the next big thing.
What Makes Stock a Penny Stock?
A penny stock is simply a micro-cap sized company, or a not-yet profitable growing company selling their stock for any price under 5 dollars per share. Some companies dispense their shares for fractions of a penny per share, that's right, you can actually purchase multiple shares per penny in some cases. The 5 dollar max per share is a rule of thumb but not an exact figure. It is based on the fact that many money managers' entry point for institutional, or large scale investments is around 5 dollars per share because of stability in prices at this level. Share of any company under 5 dollars per share can be volatile, or subject to large swings in price in either direction. So money managers and financial professionals tend to avoid stocks under 5 dollars in general.
Why Should I Buy Penny Stocks?
Penny stocks from fractions of a cent to a few dollars per share are subject to large gains as well as large losses in short periods of time. This volatility is attractive to some investors who don't mind risking their money for a big gain. The low buy-in price per share also gives the retail investor more shares for their money. The feeling of more shares for your money is appealing for those stock market investors who are just getting their feet wet in the investing world.
A simple example is the fact that you would only own 10 shares of a 100 dollar stock with a 1 thousand dollar investment, but you would own 100,000 shares of a stock valued at 1 cent for the same investment of your capital. The feeling of involvement with the penny company seems deeper than if you only owned a measly 10 shares of the larger, more expensive company. This creates a feeling of being a superior investor, but the risk of the penny stock going to zero is far greater than the 100 dollar stock going to zero. Conversely, the possibility of the penny stock climbing to 2 cents is better than the 100 dollar share climbing to 2 hundred dollars. So that's where the risk versus reward scenario comes from. Most new investors don't consider the is versus reward before investing, they are just excited to be able to buy so much stock with their money.
So should you waste your time with penny stocks?
The answer lies within your own risk tolerance. Most penny stock companies are trading at these low levels for good reason. Low profit, unprofitable, or unable to make a profit are reasons why share prices are so low in the first place. Invest with care and keep in mind that old old adage, you get what you pay for...
