Soirée Beaujolais 2013: The Streets of Paris

SOIREE BEAUJOLAIS 2013 is an annual traditional French celebration of welcoming the wine harvest held at the Tent City, Manila Hotel presented by Le Club. A large crowd of the French community attended the event. The venue was lavishly decorated in Paris setting. The spotlights added extra colors and a drape canopy created liveliness to the surrounding. It was hosted by Champagne Morales who likewise performed a french popular song. There was a memorable toast from the officers of Le Club to welcome the flavor of a new wine and prizes were awarded to the raffle winners headed by former Sen. Joey Lina.
The entire French community and Le Club coordinated their effort unitedly in helping the victims and part of the proceeds of Soiree Beaujolais 2013 will go to those affected by Typhoon Yolanda. French companies have already provided significant contributions in the form of donations, chartering of aircrafts and helicopters, supplying civil security agents and medical assistance, rebuilding infrastructures, supplying emergency supplies and many more.

Fila Polo Cup 2013 Carnival

Fila Polo Cup 2013 was held last February 10 at The Manila Polo Club at Forbes Park, with the Low Goal game started at 2:00 pm, the High Goal game at 4:00 pm, and the festivities at 6:00 pm with more glitz than ever before. Hosted by Brazil-born actor and FILA endorser Fabio Ide, with entertainment provided by Guarana, the Escola de Samba de Manila Dancers, the Maracuja Dancers and Talentadong Pinoy Hall-of-Famer Astroboy.
Manila’s finest graced the event, including FILA endorsers Georgina Wilson, Borgy Manotoc, Tim Yap, and FILA’s first couple, the ever gorgeous President and CEO of FILA Philippines, Cris Albert and husband and company Chairman Butch Albert who also celebrated his birthday.
The entertainment was prepared to bring the concept of full authentic Mardi Gras Festival. The Escola de Samba de Manila, founded by the same minds behind Guarana, had taken unto itself the task of bringing Brazilian Carnival to the event with their bright festive colors and infectious pulsating beat of Bossa Nova and Samba.
Fila Polo Cup brought out its unique theme of Brazilian Carnival this year merely because when it comes to emotion, color, atmosphere, and sheer over-the-top joyous celebration, there’s nothing that beats the Brazilian method. A perfect welcome for FILA’s bigger direction in 2013, a new era for the brand that features innovation while still taking its cues from a rich and storied past. The New Year marks the perfect time for a fresh start and renewed hope as we face all of the many challenges that shall come our way in this coming year.
To kick off New Year celebration in sparkling style, The Peninsula Manila has evolved into something new and different from the traditional black tie gala ball dubbed as “Pink Diamond Ball”. Cool sophistication ruled the night in a Marilyn Monroe inspired setting with crystal and baubles, Champagne and fairy lights, balloons and confetti as it welcomed New Year in inimitable Peninsula Style.

A toast marked the grand unveil of the new Spiral. Sofitel General Manager Goran Aleks puts it best. “We are proud to announce the rebirth of Spiral which is set to revolutionize the art of interactive dining. This has never been seen before in Asia-Pacific and it can be found right here in Manila,” he states. “The 21 dining ateliers of the new Spiral reflect the best of the world’s cuisines in one magnificent destination. It is Sofitel’s vision to showcase not only the best of French culinary heritage but also combine it with the best of Eastern, Western and Filipino cuisine, produce and artistry.”

The new design of Spiral was conceived by Spin Design Studio of Japan. The same team was also responsible for the original Spiral and other world-class projects such as the new restaurants of Ritz Carlton Hong Kong. And they’ve apparently outdone themselves this time. Interior designer Masakazu Koizumi defines his concept as nature and modern industrial elements in harmony, intertwined with the best of both Filipino and French design. Natural and mood lighting, the masterful use of space and height, and the fusion of natural elements such as water and fire, all come together in a striking interplay of aesthetics that’s uniquely Spiral, and distinctively Sofitel.
The highlight of the new Spiral is La Veranda, an indoor lounge that opens to an outdoor terrace with four gazebos leading to the iconic lagoon-shaped pool the hotel is famous for. One can literally watch the sun, the moon and the stars in the sky from the comfort of a glass enclosed lounge while sitting in the Parisian style bar.
The drama continues as you descend the spiral staircase with the iconic sculpture of Eduardo Castrillo and the sound of the fountains welcoming you. Lighting also plays a major role in Spiral’s dramatic metamorphosis. Four giant capiz chandeliers now illuminate the entire space. These harmonize with the capiz fixtures in the Asian dining section, the lustrous white marble, glowing glass counters, and frosted glass doors, resulting in a comfortably bright and light aura.
The unifying concept is to have one big open dining area where culinary and visual pleasures mingle across the different ateliers. But for those who desire slightly more seclusion, luxurious French style private dining rooms have been specially designed for private functions, parties and meetings. Spiral’s French section shelter two rooms named Hidden and Voyeur, both feature plush leather sofas and large dining tables for a glamorously cozy getaway. The Asian section ensconces Indulgence, Decadence, and Epicure, with each room seating 12 people but the three can be combined to fit 36. For more casual and intimate gatherings, there’s Tasting, a semi-private dining room that can entertain groups of up to 8 people

The new Spiral’s look and feel springs from the hearts and minds of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s management team together with newly appointed executive chef Eric Costille spearhead its operations in satisfying discerning clientele. He also serves as the regional executive chef of Sofitel Asia Pacific. The award winning chef is a veteran of three-star Michelin restaurants such as Georges Blanc in Lyon and Moulin de Mougins in Cannes. He has also worked for Makati Shangri-La, the Ritz Carlton Osaka, Jakarta and Seoul, and the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, and recently opened 12 restaurants at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The team travelled around Asia and Europe in search of the best dining concepts and came up with 21 different dining ateliers. The idea was to bring the authenticity and warmth of the traditional French markets and Asian hawker stalls into a five star hotel setting.

(Hublot), Gary Ng-Jaeger-LeCoultre Sales Manager, Mike Neo- Managing Director Melchers Time (Breitling) toasted to the unveiling of the stores in the presence of over 400 guests. 
Master of the ceremonies was TV host Bianca Valerio who got the audience excited for the unveiling of the stores and special raffle draws. It was a night of celebration for the years of camaraderie and shared appreciation for haute horlogerie which has spanned throughout the decades and passed on to the next generations.

Eight New Stores, Eight More Treasures
Lucerne open doors to their new luxury brand boutiques choosing the Philippines as its premiere destination for the illustrious brand, Tudor opens its doors to the world’s first stand-alone boutique. Hublot also launches its first shop in the Philippines at the same prime location. Completing the sequel of the eight treasures are Baume & Mercier, Breitling, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, and Rolex.
The concepts of each brand are introduced through their distinct design and presentation. From Breitling’s yellow leather, Baume & Mercier’s beach house, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s stone paneling, to IWC’s vintage library, each showroom represents an experience of its own. All fixtures were shipped in by the brands themselves and bring to the Philippine market their authentic cultures.
Rolex
Reflecting the essence of the upscale brand, Rolex displays only the best in their Bonifacio High Street Central boutique. Subtly spelling out Rolex, the beige Italian leather wall panels bring a sense of elegance to the shop. At the center of the store is a bronze trimmed laser-etched aqua glass made especially for the brand. Complementing the waves of the glass is the wave panels highlighting the displays of the esteemed timepieces.

IWC
Just like its signature timepieces, IWC’s boutique combines the old and new with traditional craftsmanship and modern sophistication. Black wooden shelves set the perfect background for a vintage library infusing styles reflective of their watches. To further appeal to the guest’s experience, showcases are segmented by watch model, perfect for comparative shopping.

Hublot
Claiming fame for bringing true fusion to the watch industry, Hublot makes history again with its flagship Philippine boutique at Bonifacio High Street Central. Hublot’s boutique design concept creatively reflects the brand’s DNA of luxury and innovative design, bringing to life its vision of fusion. Unique materials are a hallmark of Hublot’s watches, and they also play a prominent role in the boutique’s design. A combination of black furnishings, granite and dark wood floors, and high-tech details imbue the Swiss-designed boutique with contemporary style.

Finding inspiration from the sea, Italian brand Panerai welcomes guests to its simple and classic look. The store highlights their most valuable pieces as the center of attention in ‘nautical’-style teak wood and glass displays. Complementing the sleek elegance are the black leather and silver steel furniture. All fixtures declare the strong partnership between Officine Panerai and the Italian Navy.

Jaeger-LeCoultre
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique has been designed with all the care and sober style of the manufacturer in order to recreate the serene, peaceful atmosphere of the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland. The premises of the boutique harmoniously blend the best of design and contemporary materials with symmetry, refined lines and the pure spirit of the Art Deco period during which the creativity of Jaeger-LeCoultre gave birth to its icon, the legendary Reverso. Combining wall panels of walnut wood, rough stone cladding, leather furniture and string-woven curtains, JLC’s boutiques present a look that is both strong and classic.

Baume & Mercier
Hailing from the Swiss Jura region, Baume & Mercier has been true to its symbol- “Phi” representing perfection and high quality. These are not only seen in their watches but are clearly revealed in their stand-alone boutiques. Inspired by the upscale Hamptons in New York, Baume & Mercier usher in the serenity of the seaside with classy French doors and light wooden fixtures. The warmth and mixture of the beachside colors that surround the shop invites the guest to recreate life’s vibrant moments- a signature of Baume & Mercier.

Breitling
As the authentic partner of aviation, Brietling lands in high style at Bonifacio High Street Central. Distinct to the brand are its bright yellow leather columns that hold strong below each of the display towers fittingly contrasting the wenge colored walls and black leather furniture. Looking around the boutique, one would immediately notice the brand as sturdy, reliable and clear-cut – everything you need in a pilot’s watch.

Tudor
Choosing Lucerne as their partners in retail watch shops, Tudor launches the world’s first stand-alone boutique. Beige Italian leather panels are delicately seen at the top and sides setting stage to showcase the sleek Tudor brand. Settling in at the High Street Central’s leisure hub, Tudor reflects suaveness by mixing in the distinct bright red as used in their logo against smooth black displays. The result is an elegant sophistication.

Bell & Ross: Rebirth of the Classics
Reliving the classics with Bell & Ross timepieces
The French watch brand showcased its latest collections in a swinging 1940’s party entitled, “Bell & Ross: Rebirth of the Classics” held at the upscale Salon de Ning of the Manila Peninsula on October 16. Taking the guests back to the 40’s was a live band playing the hits of the era and models garbed in classic chic. An exclusive public viewing of the limited edition pieces from Bell & Ross’ vintage and aviation collections took center stage that night.
Gracing the party were Bell & Ross representatives from Hong Kong and flying in from France was Sales Head, Fabien de Nonancourt who toasted to the success of the event along with over a hundred guests.

Signature timepieces included the Vintage WW1 that features a single push button chronograph and the unique Vintage WW2 which design was patterned after those used by bomb navigators in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Another highlight of the watches displayed was the BR01 Horizon from the Aviation Collection with its design inspired from the cockpit.

John Walker and Sons Voyager

John Walker & Sons Voyager created a whisky history when it launched it’s journey across the Asia Pacific. Over six months, this spectacular sailing yacht will travel to eight countries and nine ports on an epic journey which evokes the nautical and game changing heritage of John Walker & Sons, and celebrates the launch of the new, award winning triple malt, ODYSSEY. To recreate that journey, a yacht will be sailing to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and India on a journey which was inspired by the original trade routes pioneered when the Walker family whiskies left the corner store in Scotland and journeyed across the world, stopping at all major cities including Manila along the way.
At every port, a tale of progress from each city will be uploaded on the Around the World book, a modern recreation of Sir Alexander. ‘Around the World’ is a unique expression of a brand’s intent as a a travel guide to all the markets where Johnnie Walker was sold rather than talking about the specifics and principles of the brand. It commemorates one of Sir Alexander Walker’s greatest innovations – the creation of a remarkable decanter for use on luxury cruise liners which moved to match the motion of the sea.
At each port, Voyager will be the setting for a series of iconic events through which the most progressive individuals in Asia Pacific will be invited aboard to experience the pinnacle in luxury craftsmanship and celebrate the launch of ODYSSEY.
Finally the Voyager arrived in Manila and the spectacular event was held at Oceana in ’1930′s setting’ hosted by Bianca Valerio and David Celdran. It was set to honor four Filipinos game changer namely Joey Concepcion, Brillante Mendoza, Kenneth Cobonpue and Rhet Eala who have revolutionized their own industry. The evening made even more magical by the beautiful fireworks display. It was a celebration of spirit with curiosity, excitement and living life without boundaries.

  Octea Chrono
The Swarovski Octea line consists of the Octea Chrono and the Octea Sport. Octea Chrono presents two new trendy colors: anthracite and fuchsia. This stylish watch mixes round and linear elements and has the trademark combinations of crystals and straps. It features a unidirectional bezel made of a single piece of crystal. It’s second counter, one of the three counters found on the dial, is also circled by pave crystals. Octea Chrono’s rubber strap is also adorned with six Crystal Silver Night or Fuschia Diamond Light crystals which complete its sporty yet feminine look.
Chrono Sport line is available in white rose-gold and also has a unidirectional bezel made of white ceramic. Its rubber strap with white ceramic elements also adds a sleek and modern appeal to it. For those who prefer a burst of color, this line is also available in ocean blue and lilac with rubber straps embellished with blue zircon and Light Amethyst Intensive Diamond Touch Light crystals.
