“We want the film to be engaging and entertaining and a great ride, mostly,” the film’s director, Sam Fell, has said. “But yes, if you come away and you think a little bit more like a chicken by the end of it, then that’s not a bad thing.”
Some of the film’s key cast members – including Thandiwe Newton and Bella Ramsay – are passionate spokespeople for veganism, and Fell himself became a vegetarian during production.

“Dogs are wonderful, and in many ways unique. But they are remarkably unremarkable in their intellectual and experiential capacities. Pigs are every bit as intelligent and feeling, by any sensible definition of the words. They can’t hop into the back of a Volvo, but they can fetch, run and play, be mischievous, and reciprocate affection. So why don’t they get to curl up by the fire? Why can’t they at least be spared being tossed on the fire?”

HAPPY WORLD VEGAN DAY to all my vegan friends here!! 💚 🌱🌱🌱
Thank you for taking a stance and fighting for animal rights. One day our world will be vegan and YOU are helping making it happen, even if it's just in a small way. I love you!!!

Its NOT always simple to just up and drop everything to go vegan- theres a kernel of truth to that excuse! but Im not sure anyone is saying you cant take your time. When you have a moment, watch some documentaries or check out some resources. Pick a new plant based food and try it. Go for one or two easy mock food replacements and see whats up with them. Start cutting back on any animal tested personal products you may be purchasing. You do NOT have to do a million things at once, its ok. And if you know you'll never be able to do everything, thats ok too. Most people arent willing to make any small changes right now, so you're definitely doing better than them. And if comparing yourself to others isnt your jam then remember youre doing better than you were a few weeks, months, years ago, and it counts for something. Doing your best always counts for something.

People love to call veganism ‘privileged,’ while conveniently ignoring the fact that the only reason animal products are even close to being accessible for the average consumer is because they’re factory farmed, slaughtered and packed by grossly underpaid labourers working in dangerous conditions, and then massively subsidised by all of our taxes.

killing animals in factory farms is not a symbiotic relationship. you don’t understand ecology at all. factory farms are not at all part of the equation of ‘symbiosis’ and relationships with nature, ecosystems or food webs. slaughter houses are not ‘gentle deaths’. factory farms and the industrial food system are the producers of harm and waste and destruction to all life and the land. nothing about this is ‘mutualistic’, ‘gentle’, ‘sustainable’, or ‘natural’. you’re living in a dream land if you believe this.

Ya know, I owned waaay more pleather before going vegan. Not because I wanted to wear plastic or had any issue with leather but simply because real leather is expensive as hell and the readily accessible alternative is cheaper.
Now, as a vegan who doesn’t wanna wear animal skin or make the environment worse if I can help it, I look for better alternatives (my phone case is made of cork, for instance) or I don’t buy anything “(p)leather” at all. Cause, like, I don’t need a leather jacket to live, after all.
So, while I’m sure plenty of vegans do use pleather, I’m also sure the vast majority of consumers are nonvegan—simply because it’s the cheapest option available. Why this gets framed as a gotcha on vegans time and time again makes zero sense to me
