I've got plenty to do today but this beauty wouldn't wait.  It's my Arizona grown Texas barrel cactus.

It was the "bees knees" to watch them collecting pollen this morning.  Can you see the chunks of pollen carried on their legs?

Mammillaria grahamii. Fishhook pincushion. Every time they get water, whether it be from rain or from my water hose, a few days later they send up this beautiful thank you display.

Just Add Water.... This is how wonderously the Sonoran Desert comes to life even when it's hellishly hot.  Thankfully the latter part of the summer is known for its "monsoon" rains.  Torrential rains, epic thunder and lightning storms, and notorious dust storms make it worth it to stick around and watch Mother Nature do her thing.

I got flowers from my sister who is a florist.  She really knows how to pick 'em.  They delighted me for quite a long time.  As the petals started falling off I realized how pretty they were even in their fallen state. I was even more delighted. 'Gives me a glimpse of how God loves me in spite of my fallen state.

Little did I know how good a morning it was to take pictures of plump, ripe saguaro cactus fruit.  Some of the ones on the ground are fermented - somewhat liquified inside and yes, there's the unmistakable aroma of beer!  Those birdies that are diligently pecking away know a good brew when they find it. I lost track of time as I stretched and squatted and clicked and sorted and assembled and clicked some  more.  My neighbors no doubt think I'm the crazy lady in this desert 'hood. By afternoon we'd had a massive downpour that washed much of this away.  The moral of the story is: you have to immortalize beauty when you see it.
