Landscaping tips for front basin
Hi y’all — I’m looking for some landscaping tips for the basin in my front yard (here).
I’m thinking of trimming down the box woods so they all look similar, ripping out that ugly plant in the center and laying down a bed of fresh mulch.
Any other suggestions to your eyes would be much appreciated!

Does anyone have any experience with these orbit timers? Installed it two weeks ago and has been working fine up until today when I come home and realize zone one has been running for over 24 hours and flooded the yard. No amount of turning it off and on

Feedback on plans
I live in Fresno Ca, zone 9, and I’m looking to reduce water use as much as possible, as well as have a yard that requires little maintenance. I don’t want to mow, but edge and prune occasionally is fine with me.
My yard gets a lot of Sun, but I do have two trees that will provide some shade. Most of the yard will get 4-6 hours of full sun.
I’d like to use ground cover but also have a deliberate, organized look. My plan is to use
rosemary next to my house , the “back” of the yard and to add some height.
clumping monkey grass (lily turf) as a border around the yard separating the sidewalk and yard, and hopefully containing the ground cover, boxing in the yard
and white clover to cover the center of the yard between the rosemary and clumping monkey grass
Any thoughts or feedback on this plan?

Suggestions for making fence post holes in asphalt
Hello all,
I have a side yard and no back yard. The previous owners fenced in the side yard and put in an asphalt parking slab instead of a backyard. The slab is huge plus there is a garage. I would like to extend the side yard into part of the slab area. I'd' still leave room for parking, but I'd have more side yard and a 12'x20' backyard. I am not very comfortable using power tools to cut into the asphalt to make the holes for the fence post. Can anyone recommend how to make a fence post hole with manual hand tools? I'm thinking something like a chisel and hammer or similar. If anyone has any recommendations and/or links to tools from a legit site like homedepot, I would be grateful. Thank you.

I regraded the soil around two sides of my cement foundation
https://imgur.com/a/Jkif54y
I haven’t touched the foundation dirt around my home in about 2.5 years. It has resulted in negative slope and thus likely increased water flow into the basement. I already live in a high water table and have some water in the basement from time to time.
So I just started by shoveling dirt out from my two raised beds that I am removing, and wheeling it to the side of the home to dump it out. Then using a rake, I molded the dirt into these slope hills that come out about 3ft before hitting the main grass. The main grass slopes down a little further out. I used a plow to remove any weeds, grass, etc.

French drain bid in the bay area opinion
First time home owner here, recently got a bid for a French drain installation. No idea what the going rate is in the Bay Area as our other bids are with doing a full backyard rehaul. This company specializes in drain installation, was a little shocked at the price as our home is 1310 square feet. Any input would be helpful!
