If I could do a handshake meme formatted properly it'd be something like:

^ stupid takes that don't understand the characters or are just used to bash a Splinter

I do think a character study examining the effects Rise!Splinter's hands-off, laid-back parenting versus 2012!Splinter's strict and disciplined parenting had on their children would be very interesting, especially if how their different backstories led to their parenting styles was a focal point. Unfortunately, when 12!Splinter isn't dead in a crossover, the fic usually favors one Splinter over the other :(
