It’s day 4 of the #YMOMobilityChallenge and today's class is all about slowing down. Who's with me?? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Today's yin practice focuses on the hips, hamstrings, and low back, and while it's a shorter practice, it still provides ample time and space to settle in. With just a handful of postures, we will apply gentle supported stimulus to increase elasticity, circulation and tissue strength. Yin also gives us the opportunity to create space in all aspects of ourselves - body, thoughts, and emotions. My hope is that you will leave feeling refreshed and connected to your presence. Anyone out there hold tension in their neck? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Between desk sitting, computer working, and well, life sometimes, I often find myself needing to bring awareness to this area of my own body. You know the feeling......your shoulders are up to your ears. Your jaw is clenched. Things are just .... tense. My own work in this area led me to create this sequence. Whether you hold tension here or not, this class is meant to be an exploration into default holding patterns. Also, given that the neck is thought to be the communication highway 🛣 between body and mind, creating some awareness and softening in this area can't be a bad thing! 🌟💫🌟✨ ✨SHINE✨ 🌟💫🌟✨ This is my word/mantra for 2022. ✨ 2021 was the most challenging in my professional career (scroll ➡️ to see how it has felt to be in academia during 2020-2021 😂🍌). I have been working hard to adopt a growth mindset about it, but definitely have my moments 🤷🏻‍♀️ Working at this growth mindset, to me, means to shine. ✨ It means asking “”Why is this happening FOR me?” Instead of “Why is this happening TO me?” ✨ It means being open to the lessons/successes/failures that accompany challenges. ✨ It means letting my light shine, even when others try to dull it or stamp it out. Note to self - this also means not taking things personally (thank you, The Four Agreements). ✨ I will be imperfect in this quest, but letting this one word guide me will undoubtedly help me shine more brightly. And, in the words of Nelson Mandela - when we allow ourselves to shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. ✨ I’m also so grateful to be surrounded by family and friends that encourage me and support me on this path that I currently walk. ✨ What is your word?
