Regina & Mo* & their two children are a Black & Afro-Vietnamese family of four who have struggled to maintain mortgage payments in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and rise in unemployment.
As a result of the mass layoffs happening everywhere in the US, Mo was let go from his job and has not been able to find work due to a combination of him being of an older age, his Blackness, & an being immunocompromised individual. Despite him being a hard worker and having multiple years of experience in his field, employers are not willing to take the "risk" of hiring him in this climate.
His wife Regina works in an elder care facility and despite being an immunocompromised cancer survivor herself, she takes the risk of endangering herself as an essential worker to care for those who need assistance and are not able to care for themselves every day. She is an Afro-Vietnamese woman who escaped anti-black violence that ravaged her homeland as a result of the Vietnam War. She knows how to be resourceful but has been unable to make ends meet as it stands.
With these conditions & alarmingly expensive medical bills and doctor's visits to keep track of each of their cancer diagnoses , they have no way of paying their past due mortgage bills.
Please help this Black family weather through the storm & come out whole & with their home. This pandemic is extremely deadly to people like them & losing their place to quarantine and be safe in isn't an option.
