i got to thinking today about how i have all these cool horses in tears of the kingdom that i dont use because 1. if you arent on foot youre going to miss something and it’s annoying to dismount every two seconds 2. you can teleport just about anywhere on the map and be a minute or two from your destination and 3. there’s no horse teleportation in this one and im not going to leave horses scattered all over the map

and like in previous zelda games ive played with horses (ocarina of time and twilight princess) you had a huge open field of nothing to have to get through to go places. riding epona thought hyrule field was special because it was the only wide-open place you could do that. twilight princess gave you parts where you had to chase after enemies on horseback and those were some of the most awesome video game moments of my life when i was a kid

and you COULD teleport in oot and tp, but not until later in the game and in oots it was still occasionally better to just ride epona to get somewhere because it was easier that backtracking from the entrance to a dungeon to get where you needed to go

botw and totk dont give you any incentive at all to use a horse beyond a few short side quests and mini games. sure you can glue a korok to your horse-drawn cart and set off, but you can also just build a jet and fly the korok where they need to be so why bother? kinda sad tbh especially because riding around on epona was one of my favorite things to do as a kid

i start skyrim and choose the vanilla start only to immediately see ralof’s face is borked (conflicting replacers, but last time just loading the one i preferred last worked) so i close out and fix it then come back and make it all the way to helgen and there’s a huge patch in the middle of helgen where a texture is missing

#this is. and adventure. #i havent changed anything texture-wise from last time #i guess i gotta go look and see if my texture mods need updating

#yeah lol i gave rwby one more season after they killed clover because it seems so certain they’d bring him back #like to the point someone working on the show mentioned it and was quickly hushed #then they waited until the next to last episode to say the staff couldnt bring back the dead #AND they had a character death warning for a very tame off-screen death #and that felt patronizing if im bein honest #like oh okay youre going to have the most violent on-screen death (which isnt saying much it wasnt that bad) to date #for the character your staff has been pairing with another male character this entire time #im serious the staff was supporting qrow/clover and we all figured that meant it was Real #and they knew the entire time that clover was gonna die #the whole situation that followed was really unprofessional and made me realize the pr department didnt exist lol

jax runs the front register royal is a server and the merc is the feral line cook that stays in the back and makes the best food you’ll ever have in your life and orla only lets them out of the kitchen on very special occasions (customer was exceedingly rude to royal) and corporate thinks orla fired the merc a long time ago but bloodlust be damned that gremlin can work a grill so she just keeps rehiring them under different names
