Tumgik
Kdin pulled Caleb in a little tighter against his chest when the man practically dove into his arms, taking cues from the way he clung to him and making sure the man would feel as safe as possible as he smoothed his hands along the man's back, murmuring reassurances into his hair between soft kisses pressed to the man's temple. He didn't ask anything about what'd driven Caleb to this point in the first place, right now it didn't matter.
What matted was making sure his boyfriend was okay, and that the man knew without a single doubt in his mind, just how incredibly loved he was... He'd worry about kicking the ass of whoever had done this to him later.
"We can stay here for as long as you like okay? I'm here, I'm definitely not going anywhere, and I love you." God he loved him so damn much and seeing Caleb break apart a little like this was honestly heartbreaking. The man was always a bundle of warmth and sunshine, he could count on one hand the amount of times he'd seen him without a smile on his face, so seeing him like this just felt so incredibly wrong somehow... which merely strengthened his resolve to make it better, it whichever ways he could.
A Misstep || Caleb and Kdin
He didn’t move even as he heard the door open. Someone could be robbing him, and he wouldn’t have done anything about it. That probably wasn’t good, he mused, but he couldn’t bring himself to fully care. It wasn’t like he had anything too important at home anyways. Or, at least, nothing that couldn’t easily be replaced. At Kdin’s voice, he peeked his head out.
"Hey." Caleb’s voice was a quiet whisper as he practically dove into Kdin’s arms, burying his face against his chest. Idly, he wondered if it was possible to transfer powers between them. If so, maybe Kdin would go invisible with him for a few days and they could watch the world pass them by. It sounded nice in theory anyways. "Maybe later? Right now I kind of just want to stay here."
Eventually he’d have to move though. To tell Kdin what happened, which he wasn’t really looking forward to. He definitely had not fully thought this through.

Kdin tentatively slipped inside Caleb's home, locking the door behind him, before seeking out the man with the aforementioned strong liquor and blankets, hoping that them and himself combined would be enough to get the man through whatever had made him sound so painfully vulnerable over those texts. He set both of them down just outside the man's room, so that they'd be easy to grab, but equally wouldn't hinder him from pulling the man into his arms and just holding him for a while.
Because he couldn't be certain, not over text, but Caleb had almost sounded... scared, definitely hurt, but possibly afraid too and the potential of that somehow made the situation, whatever it was, even worse and Kdin was probably legitimately going to punch whoever had done this to his boyfriend square in the jaw because no one was allowed to hurt this man, his own special ball of sunshine and positivity and kindness, without feeling Kdin's wrath in response. No one was allowed to hurt his Caleb.
"Hey," He offered softly as he moved across the room, tentatively reaching out to take the man in his arms, "Sorry I took so long, the blankets and liquor are on the counter if you need me to go grab them."
A Misstep || Caleb and Kdin
Caleb put his phone down and made sure his door was unlocked before returning to the corner of his room. He slid down the wall, pulling his blankets around his back to cover him as best as they could while he sat down. It wouldn’t leave his head. Mutant. God, why had he pushed? Now he knew why Kdin hadn’t trusted Matt but..Somehow he still didn’t blame the man. He should have. Should be mad. Should be demanding to know why Matt did it- what was wrong with the man but.. He wasn’t the same. Matt had changed. He sincerely regretted it, and only even did this when Caleb begged him to. So he couldn’t fault him. Nor would he ever stop being friends with the man over this. Drawing his knees up to his chest, he crossed his arms over them and put his head down on them. He couldn’t even try to pretend there wasn’t anything wrong. But it’d be fine.
Everything would be just fine, Caleb just needed his boyfriend and a bit of time.

"The musical Bonnie to my Clyde." Kdin grinned, moving to take his boyfriend's hand and squeezing it lightly as they settled in together to watch as the opening sequence of the movie started to unfold... He could already feel himself drifting, long before Mulan herself had actually made an appearance, and knew he had the comforting familiar warmth of the man at his side to thank for that. It was about 57 different kinds of cliched to say so, but he never felt safer than when he was curled up in his boyfriend's arms.
He could feel Caleb beginning to drift at his side too so he decided to go with it, smiling a little half-awake smile when the man subconsciously pulled him closer to his chest, feeling so ridiculously, overwhelmingly loved and protected in that moment that he had to take a few seconds to just bask in that, in the disbelieving exhilarating joy that somehow, by some miracle, this man was his, before he finally allowed sleep to claim him too.
Nursing You || Caleb and Kdin
"I’ll butcher them with you. We can be a couple of song killers. The perfect duet." His smile grew as the intro music started playing and Kdin shuffled closer. This night was pretty nice. He was hoping they could repeat it when Kdin was healed. A nice movie night where they wouldn’t have to worry about anything- not even superhero worries. He tried to keep his eyes open, he really did.
About the second song in, he drifted off. It was so warm, he was so comfortable, and there was nothing that made him feel more content than Kdin safe in his arms. Subconsciously he went to pull Kdin closer- to his chest where he could hide him away from the world. Everything was perfect like this.

Kdin hummed a little to himself contentedly as Caleb settled in beside him, taking a silent sort of reassurance from the man's presence, the feeling of his warmth along his side. After the sterile, impersonal environment of the hospital bed, the comfortable mattress, and the warmth, and Caleb's smile were something close to bliss. He was almost definitely going to fall asleep during the film because, probably for the first time since he'd been hurled around the city by that monster, he felt safe, relaxed, contented... and he knew he had the man curled into his side to thank for that.
He grinned wider, delighted when Caleb played along, and even more so when his dumb karate chop managed to draw a chuckle from the other man's lips. God he looked beautiful when he laughed. Just the way his face lit up in delight, eyes sparkling, a warmth behind it like the sun. He picked up the remote, hitting play before setting it aside and ever so carefully shuffling a little closer (because despite what the man seemed to think, Kdin wouldn't break... well not anymore than he was already broken anyway). "Just a warning, if I don't fall asleep before the songs start, you're going to hear some Disney classics utterly butchered."
Nursing You || Caleb and Kdin
Holding Kdin gently, he relaxed against the pillow and found himself wondering if he’d actually end up awake through the entire movie. Kdin was so warm and he was so comfortable… He really hoped his boyfriend didn’t mind if he fell asleep on him- and that he knew it was beyond fine to wake him up if he needed anything. After all, he was Kdin’s ‘nurse’. Speaking of which, he was starting to regret his choice just a bit. The other dress may have flashed a person or two, but at least it was more comfortable to lie down in. Oh well.
"To defeat. The huns?" Caleb smiled, and then chuckled at the terrible karate chop. It was cute- and heartwarming, really- that Kdin was still trying to make him laugh. Or at least amuse him. Either way it worked and he found himself overflowing with fond affection. He gestured towards the TV with a free hand. "I’m ready."

…Get the fuck out of my office and don’t come back.

Kdin smiled wide as his boyfriend leaned down to kiss his hand, forcing himself to ignore the regret that he couldn't repeat the action in turn without his ribs protesting the movement. He just added it to the mental tally of kisses he owed his boyfriend once he'd managed to pay Ryan a visit to heal him (probably after he dragged the man over to heal Chris though since the poor guy definitely needed more medical attention that he did right now).
He settled back, watching with no small amount of amusement as Caleb began to escort the rejected Disney movies back across the room to their original spot across the room. Really, he probably had enough of them to warrant a stack of shelves just for the movies (though he had managed to spot a few missing titles from the man's collection... and maybe he was already making plans to fill those gaps the next time the man had a birthday, or probably sooner since he knew the gesture would probably make his boyfriend smile... and god was he a sucker for that smile). He smiled wide as Caleb came back to join him on the bed, trying his best not to stare too much when Caleb unzipped the dress a fraction, showing off the man's chest a little more (because it wasn't exactly an unpleasant sight), snuggling up to Caleb as much as he was able (which wasn't much but he did his best) and smiling when the man slid as close as he dared and pulled up a blanket over them.
The hospital bed had been hell, but to have this moment afterwards, curled up in bed with his boyfriend and about to watch one of his all time favorite Disney movies, it was worth that hell. "I'm honored to be given such responsibility." He teased, accepting the remotes when they were handed to them. "Ready to 'get down to business'?" He offered with a grin and a shoddily done karate chop, remote still in hand which probably made the gesture look even less impressive.
Nursing You || Caleb and Kdin
The hand in his made him relax and he smiled widely. He still was going to be extra careful when he got in bed. Approved or not, cuddling was still probably playing a dangerous game. They’d figure something out though. They always did. Taking the DVD from Kdin, he had to resist a laugh. Why had he thought any other movie would be picked first? This was clearly the best one.
He leaned down and kissed Kdin’s hand before letting it go unwillingly. Caleb moved to turn everything on, put in the DVD, and grab the remotes. With the remotes back on the bed by Kdin, he scooped up all the unlucky Disney movies and started to put them back. It took a couple trips again. Honestly he should really just have a bookcase for them specifically. With the bed clear, he went to join his boyfriend on the bed and stopped himself. Would the dress be okay to sleep in? It’d probably be fine. Just in case, he unzipped the chest further before sliding as close as he dared to Kdin and tossing a blanket over them. “Would you like control of the remotes?”

"To be honest I think the massive hole in the wall would probably put a hole in that cooling off process, once everyone in the company began to realize they'd have to work around this lot," He nodded his head in the general direction of the men still laughing their asses off on the other side of the crumbling wall, "Yelling and screaming every few seconds without the wall to muffle them anymore." He knew himself just how distracting that could be after all, seeing as the loss of the B-Team door meant that he heard every single noise that came out of that room... they'd had to redo Let's Builds a couple of times now because of it.
His smile at the thought of Miles taking him up on his offer quickly vanished as the two of them heard the sound of Burnie heading their way. God they were so horrendously fucked.
He quickly took Miles advice, reluctantly materializing back into visibility as Burnie entered the room, the worlds most sheepish look probably finding its way to his way as their boss glared at what was... well actually a pretty big hole in the wall, huh funny that, you could do a surprising amount of damage with only two people...
The eerily calm tone that Burnie used quickly pulled him from those thoughts, having to fight down the urge to run or hide (or both... preferably both) as the man told them both, in no uncertain terms, that the wall would be fixed by tomorrow morning... which he nodded his agreement to very quickly because he'd take every carpentry course there was if it meant not being a victim of the man's wrath (he'd never really been afraid of Burnie before now, but he was beginning to think that was a pretty major oversight on his part).
What's The Time Mr Wolf || Kdin and Miles + Burnie
Whenever a loud CRASH followed by laughter was heard from the AH office, nothing good could come from it. Jordan, in between stolen kisses in Burnie’s office, asked him if he had heard that crash that sounded like it came from the AH office beneath Burnie’s. Burnie pulled away from the man’s lips, saying he hadn’t, until the roars of laughter began. With a sigh, Burnie moved his boyfriend off of his lap, setting him in his chair as he stood up to button his pants and fix his hair and tie.
Making his way downstairs, Burnie mentally prepared himself for the worst. Had someone thrown Ray through a wall? Had Jack finally toppled over and gone head first through a table? Did anyone record Jack going through a desk?
Burnie shook his head; time to be serious.
Brandon passed him in the hall, stopping the leader and asking him to sign off on some paperwork. “Later, alright? I have some business to attend to with the Hunters.” He made his way to their door, throwing it open with a simple question of “Ok, who did it?”
Silence engulfed the room when Burnie stepped in, and he watched Miles and Kdin (who was slowly becoming visible) turn to look at him with sheepish eyes. The Hunters slowly shuffled out of the room, avoiding eye contact with Burnie at all costs as he glared at the giant fucking hole in the wall.
Closing the door behind him, Burnie raised a hand, silencing the men as they tried to speak. “I don’t want to know what happened, and I don’t want to know who actually went through the wall.” He said, his voice eerily still and calm while frustration bubbled inside of him. “But you two better learn carpentry skills pretty damn fast, because I want that wall fixed by tomorrow morning. Completely patched, painted over, and complete. I don’t care how late you have to stay, but it’s going to be done before I walk into the office tomorrow morning at 7 AM. Understood?”

Kdin couldn't help the amused grin that crossed his features when he realized it was actually going to take more than one trip to bring over Caleb's entire collection. Honestly, he wasn't sure why he'd ever expected any different really. Once he'd laid out the last films, Kdin began to flick through them, setting a couple aside as back up movies in case, by some miracle, he managed to stay awake through the first, sifting through the collection until he caught sight of the film he'd been looking for, raising it in a flourish that probably would've been slightly more triumphant if his ribs hadn't protested his enthusiasm a little.
And he narrowly resisted the urge to roll his eyes as Caleb started to second guess his offer to lay down with him on the bed. As if he'd ever pass up a chance to snuggle with his boyfriend, legs and ribs be damned. He reached out to take Caleb's hand, lightly squeezing it before offering, "I'd like it a lot if you laid down with me. Screw the arm chair, I'll sleep a lot more peacefully with you by my side."
He used the hand not holding Caleb's to grab hold of the DVD from where he'd discarded it before, handing it over to the man with a grin and a, "One of my favorite all time Disney movies... and it's only partly because of the dragon in it." Okay so maybe it wasn't quite 'classic' Disney like he'd originally made out when he'd suggested a Disney movie night, but it was still more classic than Frozen. Plus he had a few of the more classic choices in his back up pile so he'd technically only been bending the truth a little when he'd suggested classic Disney.
Nursing You || Caleb and Kdin
Caleb smiled fondly at being called sap, and it only grew wider at having it confirmed that Kdin’s house was open to him. It seemed like a much bigger gesture than it probably was but it warmed his heart and made him feel special. Loved. He didn’t call Kdin out on his out sappy hypocrisy. The thought itself was a bit too distracting to really let him think about it anyways.
With Kdin settled down on the bed, he moved about the room to grab all the Disney movies he had. It took a couple of trips to lay them all out on the bed. He was faintly proud of his collection- it was just large enough to actually be a collection but just small enough that it didn’t take over all of his bookcases. “A bit of one. Whatever you want to watch, I’ll put on and then I’ll lay down with you.” He paused, eyes flickering to the wounded leg. “…If you’d like, that is. Or I could go pull the arm chair in here so you can sleep in peace.”
If it was going to put Kdin’s healing at risk to slip into bed with him, Caleb would grab the armchair. He didn’t want to hurt his boyfriend. Or make him uncomfortable. It’s not like they’ve ever slept together before so far… He stared questioningly at Kdin, studying his face to try and figure out if it really would be okay.

There is a very good explanation. One that has absolutely nothing to do with myself, Miles or a nerf dart. We're both really sorry and we're going to fix the hole I swear. And it's only partly because Burnie might brutally murder us both if we don't...
There better be a good explanation for why there’s a hole in my office.

"Crumble under the weight of their own missing footage and technical difficulties probably." Or, more likely, they'd foist it off on one of his team. Probably Lindsay since she had this way of making light of difficult editing situations. Credit where it was due, Ryan's 2D adventures had been a stroke of pure genius on her part. Plus there was always the possibilities of dubstep remixes when footage ended up in her editing folder.
"But Burnie and Geoff both have ways of finding you when you stop running." Kdin pointed out because really it wasn't the getting away that was hard, it was the managing to maintain that long term. Probably better to just face the music and get it over with.
If Kdin was going to die at the hands of an ill timed nerf dart, he at least wanted the dignity of a quick death. Not that there really was any way to die in a dignified matter when what was essentially a glorified game of 'What's the Time Mr Wolf' had caused it (and yes Kdin definitely didn't miss the irony there), but his point still stood.
At least, as Miles had pointed out, most of the room seemed to be near comatose with laughter right now. They had time at least to regret everything before their untimely demises.
Kdin couldn't help but smile, however, at Miles words as the man agreed to 'die together' rather than abandoning Kdin to his inevitable fate. He felt an immense amount of gratitude towards the man in that moment as he gave a nod he'd forgotten for a moment the man wouldn't see, "If we make it out of this alive, I owe you a beer." Maybe two if he also managed to keep his job with the income to actually pay for their drinks.
Something that seemed a little less likely as another large chunk of plaster from the wall collapsed in front of them.
What's The Time Mr Wolf || Kdin and Miles
"What would the guys do without you?" He stifled a chuckle, remembering the AH curse of lost footage and technical problems. Hey, at least it stayed in that office. (Would breaking the wall change that?)
"Do you really think, that if I made a break for it, someone would stop me? Only Blaine or Michael would be strong enough, and one of them is nearly comatose on the floor with laughter. You could have left already, and I could be talking to myself to cover for you.” Miles doubted they would put too much effort into chasing him down, especially if he went wolf.
There was also the tinsy, tiny part of him that worried if he did leave, he might not be allowed back. He came on an invitation, one that could be revoked. Not that it was likely, but still.
Kdin was stupidly stubborn. It was scary that Kdin was so willing to stick around (even more so, willing to cover Miles’ ass) to face the wrath of hell that would reign down upon them.
"If you’re so willing to stay…then I can’t leave you to face Jack alone. Wolves stick together. Friends stick together. Or die together, in this case.”
Just for good measure, a large chunk of the wall plaster fell down.

"Probably both." Kdin agreed, "Ahh well we had a good run. As least the curse of missing footage can't follow me into the afterlife." If was important to look on the bright side of these things after all.
And if Jack was going to kill him for this, he couldn't resist taking one last jab at the missing footage he was constantly provided with (or not provided with he supposed) before he went.
...Then again there was also the very tempting option of running away to edit another day. Caleb would probably house him in the Game Kids office for a while if he managed to get there without Jack noticing.
Especially if he provided invisible cuddles.
But there was still of course the challenge of getting there undetected (and even if that wasn't exactly a challenge as far as most of the office were concerned, if Ray decided to use his x-ray vision to track him down, or Geoff turned his telepathy on him, Kdin was boned), and the niggling guilt he'd probably feel for abandoning Miles to Jack's wrath.
Though Miles looked pretty ready to take off out of there at a run himself... Maybe he convince Caleb to hide both of them in his office if he asked extra nicely?
"You know if you are planning your escape route right now, voicing it within earshot of that lot's probably not the best idea you've ever had. Go back to work Miles, I'll handle this." Because really it probably wouldn't be too much of a stretch to get the office to blame him for the incident, seeing as he'd already been involved in one incident of property damage in the AH office this month.
He just hoped it was Burnie who ended up doling out whatever punishment he'd receive for this because the man would probably be a lot more merciful than Jack was likely to be about this...
What's The Time Mr Wolf || Kdin and Miles
"Well, it was nice knowing you while it lasted, Kdin. Either Jack or Burnie is gonna kill us. Probably both." He said with a deadpan stare at the wall.
They were fucked.
Kdin was still invisible, and considering how much his heart was beating the adrenaline was probably keeping him that way, so he couldn’t see his face, but Miles imagined it was equally terrified.
It was a huge hole, so big that it had gathered a crowd now, everyone surveying the damage done with surprised looks aimed at him. Fuck it, make a door. Should be easier than repairing the wall, right?
Cold hard terror was starting to set in now. This was his first ‘mistake’ in the office. He was almost always on time with his assignments, hardly ever needed reminders on work, the episodes were on time, overall he was a pretty important employee. He was the main writer for RvB and RWBY, that counted for something.
While he didn’t imagine either of them would kill, per say, (Jack less so than Burnie), manning up to face his punishment was starting to sound like a bad idea. Living to fight another day.
"You know, I think I’ll go up north for a few days. Visit my family. Like right now." He said with as much cheer as he could muster and slapped the still invisible Kdin on the back before continuing. "I’d say you deserve a vacation from editing. At least til I’ve figured out how to fix this."  Whoo boy.

At least they didn't crash into any of the tech in the office. If they'd hit any desk (other than maybe Gavin's because really it was only a matter of time until he trashed his again) in the room it probably wouldn't have just been Jack that'd have been the source of his probably inevitable demise... They had, somewhat ironically, landed pretty close to the trash though.
He was glad, as his senses slowly returned to him, that he'd managed to maintain his invisibility throughout the destruction of the office wall because if any of his coworkers had gotten a good look at how red his cheeks probably were right now, he'd never have lived it down.
He already knew at least one of them would bring it up in the next video he had to edit... probably one of the lads, maybe Geoff if he was having a particularly vinegar-y day when they filmed it.
"It's fine Miles. I probably shouldn't have nerfed you like that." He admitted with a sheepish grin the man couldn't see. He carefully got up, kicking aside a little of the rubble around them before he offered the man an invisible hand to follow, reaching down to close the remaining distance between their hands when he belatedly realized the man wouldn't be able to see it.
What's The Time Mr Wolf || Kdin and Miles
Kudos to Kdin for retaining his invisibility.
No kudos to Miles for putting a fucking hole in the wall.
At least they hadn’t hit any computers or consoles. Or desks. While his healing would have any bruises fixed up, he doubted crashing through a wall and desk would be as easy. Fuck it. Make a new door there. Jack had carpentry skills, he could do that.
The guys were howling by now at the sight. Maybe he let the situation get out of hand.
They were both fucked anyway. Actually, Miles was fucked. He did it. Kdin already had property damage under his belt, but he was an unwilling attendee.
"Kdin, I’m sorry. This was my fault, alright?"
