I think an underrated part of Shane’s character is his love of science. It is, admittedly, sort of blink and you miss it, but he does say that he doesn’t believe in spirits because there’s nothing that can’t be explained with science during the Christmas expy event, and he did breed blue chickens. That’s not something you do by accident! That’s something you gotta do research on things like genes and biology to understand. He also talks a lot about how he wishes he was smarter.

It’s a small thing, but I like science a lot myself, so I just think it’s neat.

You know what? We don’t shame Mayor Lewis enough for being a gross old man who involves us in his sex life against our will. He’s clearly got some sort of humiliation fetish. His underwear goes missing and instead of turning the lights on for once or asking his girlfriend he sends us to break into her house and steal them off her bedroom floor.

And then there’s the truffle oil, which would have been fine had he not mentioned being ‘discreet’ but he wants us to know. I can’t believe he’s the one who’s embarrassed about the relationship. Marnie, I know this town has internet, find yourself a better man. You own your own business, you’re cute, you can do better. I guarantee you you can’t do worse.
