Athena in Peacetime💙
Not entirely happy with it, especially the wobbliness of some of the lines, but it's probably finished to the best of my ability right now, and it's close enough to what I was picturing that I'm pleased! 😊

Sometimes I’m very tired, and it can be hard to say prayers. On rough days, like today, I light a candle and some incense, and pour out libations without hymns or prayers, just a mention of the gods. If I’m too tired for even that, I just place a hand on my altar. I know the gods understand.

*During the middle of an intense battle* Artemis: Is this an inappropriate time to say “I love you”? Athena: Aww, so romantic!

It's not rest if you are spending it feeling guilty for not being productive. It's not rest if the whole time you feel ashamed for not doing chores. This is how you burn yourself out. You're allowed to relax and do nothing.

And a world with fewer languages isn’t only a world with more limited means of communication. It’s also a world with fewer stories and folk tales, fewer hagiographies, fewer poems, myths, and recipes, fewer remedies, fewer memories.

Will never get over the fact that Athena is Zeus’ favourite kid. She’s his most special talented princess. She’s crying? Someone will be cursed for eternity. She needs something? Done in an instant. She wants something? Zeus is gonna leave his new fling to get it. Ares is dying? Zeus does not give a fuck. Athena is sad.
Zeus: Someone’s is about to get shocked! Who got the crumbs in the butter?!-
Athena: Me.
Zeus: Oh then that’s okay. You’re very stressed with war and spreading wisdom I understand. ☺️ *Leaves*
Athena turning to Poseidon: I just saved your life. Be thankful.

Reason why the "Athena was protecting Medusa" theory works: Medusa was a priestess of Athena, making her a virgin. So being turned into a gorgon - never being able be touched by a man again - is not really a hindrance because Medusa wasn't really interested in anyone anyway

Even though I've never really felt any connection to Athena for whatever reason, I definitely do find her awesome and admirable. One of my favourite things about her has to be how devoted and involved she is when it comes to her chosen heroes. I'm thinking right now of her relationship with Herakles, particularly of her standing against other gods in support of him, or going down into Hades to help him, or helping him to hold the sky. Sure, her support is not unconditional and she will abandon her favourites if they do something morally reprehensible enough, but what could be better and more desirable than having a god by your side who is willing to share the burden of the sky with you?
