Here’s to the creators who keep going even when it’ feels like screaming into an empty void.

You’re inspiration, and I don’t know how you do it.

Fan fic authors are not professional writers.

Expecting them to be perfect and never make mistakes is setting yourself up to be an asshole.

Do you know how long it takes to write and publish a 60k novel for most published authors? Years. Plural.

That includes time spent writing multiple drafts and doing research and multiple rounds of edits. Access to a professional editor, and the ability to hire sensitivity readers. The list goes on and on and on.

Fan fic authors owe you nothing. They are churning out multiple novel length fics (or the equivalent in one shots) a year while still holding down school/jobs.

And you’re gonna jump down their throats because they wrote a pairing differently than you prefer??

Shut the fuck up.

Tags exists for a reason. Read them and move on if the fic is not for you.

I mean really. We all just lived through fucking 2020. Let people enjoy their FAKE gay porn in peace.

first law: write the fic you wish to see in the world aka goddammit do I have to do everything myself around here

second law: it’s going to be longer than you think. much longer. hahaha so long. why are you crying 

third law: the time spent writing is inversely proportional to the amount of smut present, dammit

fourth law: flesh out your secondary characters. make them real people. have them take over. oh god. put them back. somebody please help 

fifth law: the time spent researching canon is directly proportional to the amount of time you’ll spend altering your plot. that one person on the internet 

sixth law: the time spent researching in general will eclipse the time you spend writing. the nsa agent monitoring your internet search history is curled up in a corner. his boss wants to know if you’re a threat. “I don’t know,” the agent sobs. “I just really don’t know.” 

seventh law: at some point, someone will ask what your favorite hobby is. you will feign a heart attack to get away

Wheres the AU where Derek is a socially constipated Werewolf (big shocker) and Stiles is a disaster Witch and they’re both dating/in college/ roommates/ share an apartment/ whatever but the catch is neither one of them are aware the other is a supernatural being and they try to hide it from each other. Cue a series of chaotic shenanigans where they both keep trying to explain all the weird (totally supernatural) shit that keeps happening. And Stiles has called pest control about three times now because something’s scratching the walls, and Derek’s baffled because Stiles how the fuck do you even start a fire in the shower?

But Derek doesn’t connect shit because hello Stiles could accidentally sneeze the fridge into another dimension and bullshit his way out of it like ‘guess we must have a classic case of…fridge burglars on our hands’ and Derek would nod along like ‘valid’. So that means Stiles is obviously the first one to figure it out which evolves into a giant clusterfuck of ‘Scott you don’t understand, Derek can’t know that I know because what if it ruins our relationship? what if he’s just shy and waiting for the right moment? what if he eats me because I know? WHat iF he KnOWs I’m A wItCh ScOtT do YoU tHinK hE eAts WiTChes?’ and Scotts just so done. And Stiles knows that werewolves are allegedly bad and you shouldn’t mix with them under any circumstances but Derek talks about saving the bees so how fucking evil can he be?

Because there’s got to be a fic out there for that I mean honestly-

Sterek AU where Derek is the campus librarian and Stiles is a mythology student. There are bad pickup lines, messing with Derek’s carefully placed shelving-system, and for some reason; Derek’s absolute determination in proving that the mythology books, which Stiles is researching, are terribly inaccurate.
