Tarot: The Minor Arcana
Tumblr media
Rather than being an exact science, Tarot is an interpretative art. Thus, the following interpretations are by no means set rules of how to read Tarot but rather a guide that can be used in addition to one's own intuition and making-sense of the card's symbol(ism)s...
The four suits of the Minor Arcana
Swords
air, thought, dreams, energy, creativity, beauty, community, movement, intellect, logic, mind, intention, ideas
Wands
fire, passion, love, desire, will, motivation, destruction, change, creativity, protection, anger, transformation
Cups
water, emotions and feelings, relationships, friendship, connection, empathy, intuition, mood
Pentacles
earth, the material, bodies, fertility, health, stability, finances, resources, home, career, craft, legacy, grounding
The numbers and court cards, and their meanings
0: openness, endless possibility, nothingness, in touch with the All (The number 0 cannot be found in the Minor Arcana but becomes relevant when interpreting the Major Arcana.)
King: control, power in action, maturity, responsibility, masculinity
Queen: mastering and subtly distributing energies, deep understanding, femininity
Knight: boldness, bravery, messenger, action, connection to the outer world, recklessness, movement
Page: inspiration, the child/ youth, freshness, a new spark, opportunity
Ace: individual, beginnings, potential, new relationships
2: duality, balance, partnership, decisions
3: collective, growth, creativity, expression, expansion, fertility, common goals
4: stability, structure, control, power, integrity, structure, formation
5: shifting perspective, conflict, change, expansion
6: community, cooperation, harmony, compassion
7: external change, spirituality, wisdom, exploration
8: repeated cycles, action, change, regeneration
9: self-realisation, success, idealism, inspiration, system structures, fulfilment, inspiration
10: completion, finality, renewal

“Why do people like a character who’s committed war crimes but hate this other character just because they’re annoying” because it’s fiction Susan, and being annoying in fiction is a greater sin than being a supervillain, because it won’t make me want to read about them. It isn’t difficult to understand

✨Yes/No Tarot tips✨
Tumblr media
Here are some ideas to help you answer those pesky Yes/No questions using Tarot. These are just ways that I’ve found work for me and Yes/No card interpretations that have always given me the answers I seek. Sometimes, this varies from reader to reader, so use this as a springboard to find out what works for you!
If you pull a Yes card in reverse, it could indicate a “Yes, BUT…” or a “Yes, IF…”. You’ll need to understand what each card means in reverse to determine the caveat for a reversed Yes card.
Pay attention to the positive meanings for each No card. Sometimes, things aren’t as clear cut as a simple No. Sometimes, it becomes a “No, but…” and gives you clues about how you can change your No into a Yes.
If you pull a Maybe card, you can often get a feel for your options either way by drawing additional cards to go on either side. For example: Two of Swords is a Maybe card and often represents a difficult choice between two options. You can draw two cards to set on either side of this card that represent the two choices and their pros and cons.

Swords: Ace, page, knight

NO

Cups: Five, eight

Does anyone else watch dark shows to understand their own trauma?
I sometimes feel self conscious about doing this.
Watching shows/movies for me that deal with heavy topics help me a lot, even when I feel heavy.
Particularly for me, and what brought this up, were shows/movies that have to do with memory suppression. They really help me; even knowing they’re fiction, I still find a lot of perspective in them.
I’ve been working on PTSD related memory difficulties with my therapist for a long time now. It’s not easy feeling like your life was in someone else’s hands and you can’t remember what you did or didn’t do, or what part of what you remember is real and what is not.
Most of the time I find a show that gives a character a life altering psychological event and then has them brush it off in an episode or two, continuing on as if nothing ever happened. It’s maddening.
Those special few shows that do extend the psychological process throughout their series are addicting to me. Almost like a case study, I can bounce ideas off of the character and learn from their mistakes. I also learn things like how to help myself see manipulation, how to maintain my own mind and not follow others.
These shows remind me not to fall into habits & crutches that are harmful. Seeing how slippery my slope can be, gives a jolt that reminds me to stay vigilant about my mind.
But, sharing this with others can be difficult. People either can’t/don’t want to relate/understand. Which in turn leaves me feeling like a weird “horror junkie” or just a freak in general. But, I come on Tumblr and it doesn’t feel so isolating, seeing everyone posting gifs from the shows and movies I find solace in means oddly a great deal.
