Been stuck in dragon hell for years now, and I dont think I can escape. But now I'm trying to socialize! Maybe. Lets hope, atleast.
My FR account is named after my main. NightlyDoodling ID:202389 [Hobby Artist/Novelist] [she/he/them]
ok so this started because, the thing about dusthides is that they have a very cool thing going on with their wing, where the secondary is only visible on the underside of the wing and not the top. unfortunately, only one pose (F) shows this off at all, so I wondered if the M pose could be altered to show the back wing to emphasize that trait. and also i thought it would be cool if the secondary was also on the underside of the plating, which i then had to add more of, and then also i had to draw the F pose to see if i could reposition the tail to show off THAT attribute. and then since i was drawing them ANYWAY i just redesigned some other things. for fun. i dont think i did it super great but it was a fun exercise!!
🫡 old skin system where we constantly swamp the skin approval admins with an endless stream of skins and accents that must be manually approved and reprinted for the last decade
I really like drawing dragons on surfboards/skateboards, so when I saw the Dusty Boi pose, I kinda had to. The water fought me to the end, though, I swear! Should be compatible with any tertiary gene not named Angler (or, kinda, Batty) though!
(also submitted my water-werewolf accent from last year because why not, but honestly I wanted to poke that a bit so of the two, I hope this one wins)
now that we have one dino gene on the baldies, we can get OTHER dino genes on them too
Anky, Parasaurolophus, Tupandactylus
With Antlers, we can see about other animal horns, spines, and crests on the dusties
Ossicones(giraffes), Bearded Dragon spines(Dragon? Bearded?), rams horns (*with a bit of fur), Crested gecko helmet.
Idk. A lot of animals and creatures have interesting head shapes that FR could just add as terts to the dusties (they're so bald, makes for a decent tert canvas)
because there's not nearly enough terts that bother the head.
I finally made a skin and I'm actually trying to sell it this time! Ironically made it/created the thread yesterday, and pretty soon the submission system is getting revamped which was announced today. So we're gonna see what happens I guess!
The dusty powder idea came first, since I saw in their bio page they're known to be covered in dust! Then the rest came later. Tunneler or something ig
Chosen One, Courier, or Vault Dweller—if you're anything like us, we know what you're doing this weekend! Have fun in the Wasteland and watch out for those Deathclaws!

[ID] A static image of a yellow dragon with green toxic looking splotches all over him in a dusty wasteland scene with a barren tree behind him. He's wearing a mish-mash of gear, including a power coat, a shabby top hat, and goggles. He's accompanied by a black cat standing on his head. Above the pair the words [ Everyone liked that ] appears.
my lil guys & the way i'm choosing to interpret them
antlers would not be conducive to a subterranean lifestyle, so i'm interpreting them as branched antennae/sensory organs. dusthides with the antlers gene are often nestkeepers- the thicker fur helps to keep eggs and young hatchlings warm in the cool underground, while the 'antlers' allow them to detect small changes indicating dangers or distressed hatchlings.
their bodies are closer to armor-plated badgers or weasels (depending on the individual) than armadillos, but armadillo-like ears help them detect the slightest sound or vibration from the surface above. some individuals have larger or smaller dewclaws, some even appearing to have only the large digging claws. they use these claws for breaking into termite mounds and anthills.
their wings are strong, but too small and their bodies too dense to fly- their wings are more often used to scrape dirt from the sides of tunnels. their tails are flat and somewhat curved, used to scoop out piles or dirt or pack it tightly to strengthen walls or smooth out floors.
