To what extent do you think hoseok developed his 7 fix because of the choice of his persona ?If he had chosen a different persona, do you think he would still have developed it that way ?
this is a great question, you can actually see the effect. he acted a lot more 1-ish in 2013-2015 compared to now, tho still with a lot of obvious 7 influence. all of the boys' personalities on camera changed in 2017 with the skyrocket onto the global stage, and most of them ended up confined to particular stereotypes. hobi definitely got boxed into his already 7-ish persona even tho his actual personality was/is pretty 1
which is unfortunately common. overall, armys only pay attention to what the boys are projecting, rather than what they’re actually doing. tho this is hardly limited to fans, humans are just prone to this (you see it all the time in type communities, it’s why personality database grows more cursed by the day)
as for how his specific 7 fix has been affected...it seems to have gelled with the image of what his 1 & Fe considers the right way for him to be: someone who only brings hope & joy to people. his 7 fix has become so developed he can occupy it. i definitely think he wouldn’t be doing that if his persona didn’t pivot on positivity
this is why hobipalooza & jitb have been so fucking impactful. he’s finally integrating 7, rather than just inhabiting it. none of what hobi’s done lately is new of his internal landscape. he’s always had a dark edge, he’s just never freely shared it. he’s finally freeing himself of the burden of not showing it even when he wants to (and trying something radically different/risky to do so, in classic 7 integration fashion). there’s also a lot of conscious-growth moving to 4, in how artistic he chose to be with his darker feelings & self-expression
i mean, the first half of hobipalooza was just a raw, empowered glimpse into the intense gut energy he keeps tucked away in his little 1 box. which for an exfj 1 to do in the circumstances hoseok put himself in for lollapalooza is pretty insane

me complaining abt dialogue encompassing 8s will get old fast, but one of the many things that grates on me is how 8w7-biased most descriptions and expectations of the type are. 8w9 can & often does look altogether different
for example, all 8s have a high tolerance for discomfort & will actively put themselves in it one way or another. but i've observed 8w7s will actively work to get out of it if enveloped by it, or get it over with as soon as possible if it's necessary. whereas 8w9s seem to like stewing in it until we've forced the broth to stop boiling, or it does so on its own (or, often more realistically, we just no longer have skin to burn off anymore...lmao)

I’d type Hoseok as 125 or 126, but I’m still a beginner and 6 are so goddamn hard to understand let alone type…
i don’t think hoseok is 6-fixed, as he lacks the characteristic 6 inability to trust himself & his judgement that is particularly obvious with a fix, since fixes usually manifest as the fundamental elements of a type rather than all the fluff of a core. jimin and namjoon are good examples of 6-fixed people. they’re both chronically unsure of themselves but seeking surety (for jimin, in perfectionism. for joon, in introspection), and jin is a very counterphobic 6w7
i’m pretty confident that hoseok’s a 173. he’s not needy enough to be 2-fixed and the 3 is pretty obvious in how particular he is abt his appearance & image. the 7 honestly speaks for itself in my opinion, with his need for positivity & hope & dismissal of anything uncomfortable to avoid it, often using humor but sometimes just straight up pretending he doesn’t see it lmfao
on that, hoseok does have lots of 6 behaviors, but they remind me of a wing. he’s very attuned to what can go wrong & risk averse but lacks the anxiety & self-doubt of real 6. his risk aversion looks like a 7w6 avoiding potential discomfort
i’m actually pretty impressed you were able to see past his 7-ness and catch that he’s probably a core 1 (since he sees acting like a 7 as part of his 1 duty, and his particularly powerful 7 fix + integration). it took me until i rlly sunk my teeth into his tritype recently, & i haven’t seen anyone else point it out. good job!!

Oh! What do you mean about Jimin falling back on masculinity (not sounding accusatory or anything!) he always seemed flexible to me after accepting himself u know with what the heck is men, hurry up and be me someday, and esp w filter, he just seems to embody both masculine and feminine energy to me really well which is partly why he’s one of my favorites
i spent some time trying to figure out how to point this out, but it's honestly pretty simple. jimin's still not actually comfortable with his femininity because his femininity is conditional on his masculinity to be allowed to exist.
jimin has taken ownership of his femininity, which is far (Far) above where he began his internalized misogyny journey. and none of this is to discredit his growth & the fact that he is still the most challenging to gender norms in the group and that i love him to fucking bits for it. but true self-acceptance is unconditional, which is difficult for type 2s and 3s, especially when they wing each other. 2's nature is to be in conflict with what it wants, 3's is to be oblivious to what it wants, and they both turn to other people/the world to find it. the combination, particularly on a sx/so type like jimin, is a pretty intense lack of stable self-worth, which intersects in a nasty way to his r/s with gender.
without elaborating too much on gender politics, jimin searching for what the world rewards (w3) to be loved (2-core) leads him to cisheteronormative gender roles that i remain unconvinced he naturally falls into or wants to participate in, and just desires because he's internalized gender as intrinsic to his worth as a person.
a person is more than their gender or gender expression. jimin has yet to internalize this, even tho he’s internalized that it’s okay for him to be feminine in some ways (and does not look at other people this way). i’d describe it as him having one foot in the water of deconstructing his r/s with gender, but he isn’t willing to go further yet (or maybe doesn’t realize there’s further to go). probably bc there’s something he’s avoiding in the deep end.
but when i said he falls back onto masculinity, i meant exactly that. when jimin's unhappy or going through a hard time he craves masculinity. it doesn't always translate to his exterior, but it always shows up in his behavior (classic 2 -> 8 disintegration, in a gendered hat). this is stereotypical low Si behavior as well--desiring what's familiar in the face of committed change even if (especially if) it's not healthy.
it's funny bc i wrote this after i’d just seen his weverse magazine photo where he's posing shirtless all sexy-man-like, and he's quoted literally saying "i want to be better, and cooler". cool is a gendered term for jimin, and korea as a whole as i understand it. i don't think him using better and cool together is a coincidence, nor is it that this is coming up as he faces doing solo work (which he's clearly insecure abt) & their emotional break.

hot take: 8s aren't actually any angrier than other gut cores or even fixes -- they just don't repress their anger at all. Even 8w9 based resistance isn't necessarily repression, they're resisting the act of reacting.
hot take #2: 8w7s give 8s their hyper-reactive reputation, since w7 has head based jitters/neuroses and fear of losing their freedom. This head influence also makes them more likely to react preemptively to a threat, or even to get angry recreationally (w7 entertainment value). 8w9s, however, tend to be "rocks", unwilling to move, or to give into what someone wants -- their reaction to their own reactivity is to resist it so the other person "doesn't win". 8w9 tends to merge into the environment in some way and takes subtler forms of control, more like a blanket than w7-type hammer anger. w9 peacemaking, so to speak, and stopping others from reacting.
It's also worth remembering that even though 8s look much angrier than say, a 1, 8 anger in average health isn't necessarily that deep. Because of their reactive core nature, their relevant emotion rides close to the surface and is expressed without a lot of thought or real, deep merit to them (4s and 6s express negativity and fear a lot this way, too.) 1 based anger lasts longer and is harder to get rid of, because it typically runs deep, into your bones kind of anger, often built up through years of repression and denial. None of which is to say that any gut type is better than another -- they all just have different methods and 8s need more love and good information on how they function.

Thank you for replying to my Jungkook ask! Honestly, I’m not sure what enneagrams are, but I do feel like a lot of his “edgy” and “nonconformist” persona is put on. It seems more like he copies what he thinks “cool” people do. I feel like a real bad boy who doesn't care what people think, wouldn’t have to try so hard to convince others of that. I’m not trying to drag him or anything. I’m just confused by the fandom narrative that he’s such a sexy bad boy who does whatever he wants.
you're fine. it's not insulting to point out the obvious abt someone's behavior, or to be the way jungkook behaves. it's a normal personality to have & somehow just makes him more attractive imo 💀
but yes, you hit the nail on the head. jungkook wants to be edgy and counterculture bc he wants to be cool & sexy. the black-forward fits, tattoos, piercings, boxing, makeup, working out, flirting with fans, ect...it's all to be seen as cool & attractive. as epitomized by his iconic baby socks inside his giant homophobe stomping boots lmfao
but on the enneagram, the consistency of this behavior heavily implies that jungkook's a core type 3, not an 8
type 8s (what jungkook is imitating, in enneagram terms, & what people think his wing is), as you said, don't care about image-control. they're nonconformist bc they know what they want and have no qualms with opposing power, be it ppl or systems, to get it. they're also only nonconformist/oppositional when it matters, what matters just depends on how healthy someone is
yoongi is a fantastic example of a healthy 8: he left his home city with no parental support at ~15 to pursue his dream in music. he didn't keep up his grades so he could work on his music. he talks abt whatever he wants no matter its controversy, even directly targeting a politician once. but he lets the stylists dress him however, lets fans think whatever, takes photos with the same 3 (hilarious) lazy poses, ect. matters of his image aren't important to him
to see it further, compare their vlives. yoongi stands there and silently stares at the comments for 20 minutes, occasionally answering questions, and leaves. he's always in a t-shirt or hoodie, frequently with unstyled hair and barefaced. no image-control or even apparent image-consciousness
jungkook wears full-on fits, makeup, styles his hair, and basically preens for half an hour or longer. if he's barefaced or disheveled he's not in good lighting, not alone, drunk, or thinks it looks hot
the difference is obvious, in my opinion. and ironic, considering they're in the same group
but to step away from typology, people everywhere have a frustrating tendency to reduce what it means to be nonconformist to an aesthetic, especially one that conforms to typical attractiveness. hence missing when ppl are actually nonconformist like yoongi, who continues to just do what he wants to this day even when it's controversial, unbothered, but lacks a typically sexy aesthetic
this isn't to undermine the controversial things jungkook does, like getting tattoos and facial piercings. obviously he's doing that & i relish him ignoring the irrational anger it generates. but he's chasing an aesthetic that is popular among people his age in korea, as far as i know. comparing that to putting a song abt your friend who went to jail for heroin on your mixtape in a viciously anti-drug culture, or quoting a right-wing politician on national television amidst blacklisting to make it unequivocal your song is protesting them, among plenty of other things, makes the difference in scope hard to argue

this is something i’ve observed from jimin forever, but i’ve never seen him say so straightforwardly. it’s also funny that it finally comes out in this video, bc this sentence is basically verbatim Fi. really shows you how shit this test was.

They’re pop stars. They’re the people in the pop star form that we have in mind, the ones we saw growing up. But they were just human beings. I know that the gazes pointed towards us aren’t all pleasant. We’re a boy band. And the things that we’ve done so far… It could be a given. We’re still very much active right now. But things like that, they totally removed that, sympathized with it, and acknowledged it. She was one of the people who did that. We were just human beings. Although our languages are different, there’s a thing called the heart.
