FYI: Senior Integrations Engineer
Tumblr media
Headquarters: Remote URL: https://usefyi.com/
Documents. They are a part of most of our daily lives. And yet we just can’t find them.
The number one problem people have with documents is finding them across all the apps they use.
The FYI team is hard at work to solve this massive problem. When you join FYI, you’ll be working with co-founders Marie Prokopets and Hiten Shah on innovative solutions to it.
We’re a fully-remote customer-focused team of 10 who are improving how people collaborate with each other.
Now, we’re in the midst of building features to empower teams and companies to find the information they need quickly.
We’re hiring a Senior Integrations Engineer to become a key team member that helps fuel our growth and build a product companies love to use.
Job Overview
As a Senior Integrations Engineer, you will own a key part of FYI’s infrastructure. Through building integrations with cloud services such as G-Suite, Dropbox, Notion, and many more, you’ll help FYI make sure the product delivers on its value proposition: finding the information people need at work, right when they need it.
What You’ll Do:
Analyze cloud products and API documentation to design integrations with FYI
Build integrations with cloud services, such as G-Suite, Dropbox, Notion, and many more
Develop API clients, webhook processors, and data transformations
Code standards, code reviews, technical planning/research, testing/QA.
Investigate and resolve bugs/customer issues.
Assist in scoping, estimating, and planning of projects.
Who We’re Looking For
You love working with cloud products, data, and APIs
You have at least 5 years experience with: Python, API clients, data analysis, OAuth
Bonus Tech Qualifications: Docker, AWS, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Lambda, S3
You have high accountability and ownership of your work.
You have a bias towards action. You love to move fast, are self motivated, and a life-long learner.
You care about working on fast-growing products while iterating and sweating the details.
You’re willing to do whatever it takes, even if this means working outside of your role (backend help frontend, frontend, handle customer support, etc).
You’re able to effectively balance speed/quality/tech debt and make engineering decisions that enable speed and quality results.
You’re a product thinker who cares about the customer.
What’s it Like to Work at FYI?
We love learning from customers and being data informed. You’ll be working on a product that is backed by customer research from the start.
Moving fast is a requirement so we can iterate based on what we learn from our customers.
We highly value and celebrate clear communication and clarity of thought, because the number one problem of remote work is communication. We’ve written about it here.
We love sharing what we learn about how people work and collaborate online. Here’s a recent article on why people switch document apps.
You Should Include These in Your Application
Your favorite public API and why you like it.
Why you want to work at FYI.
Your resume, LinkedIn profile and GitHub. We want to learn more about you.
We are hiring for full time roles only. Please no agencies or development shops.

Mystery.org: Engineering Manager
Tumblr media
Headquarters: San Francisco, CA URL: https://about.mystery.org/
The Role
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join us in our mission to build the learning platform for children that will enable them to explore anything they wonder about. In this role you’ll report to our Director of Engineering, Chris Morris. On day one, you’ll manage seven experienced full-stack engineers, overseeing our core application architecture that powers multiple product experiences. You’ll work closely with Chris to plan out the growth of the team and you’ll lead the interview process for new engineers joining your team. We are looking to double the size of our engineering organization over the next 12 months (from 10 to 20) and you and Chris will coordinate on organizing the team as it grows.
At Mystery.org, we are a product- and engineering-driven company. The core of what we do is create an incredible product that our customers love. Our CEO is a product builder and an experienced engineer. Since the beginning, we’ve obsessed over customer feedback and are constantly iterating and improving based on what we hear. We deploy code multiple times a day thanks to strong test coverage and continuous integration. We build the first version of features days of conceiving of them, moving quickly by downscoping and keeping feature teams small so they can make decisions.
This is an opportunity to do what you do best—empowering a group of talented engineers to do some of the most important work of their career.
We are headquartered in San Francisco but we hire engineers both locally and distributed across the U.S. This management position is open to both local and remote candidates.
About You
Are you experienced at leading a team of engineers? Can you easily recognize each individual’s strengths and opportunities for growth?
Are you thoughtful about what minimal processes are worth putting in place to keep a team moving quickly without thrashing?
Are you experienced with our web stack—Ruby, Postgres, Heroku—or excited to ramp up?
Package & Perks
If you’re looking for the basics:
$4M in funding from leading education investors
Revenue growing quickly (> $10M) and we’re already profitable
Competitive salary
Equity in a high-growth company
401K, health care, vacation
Customers who love us
…but the real perks of working at Mystery.org are the quality of the people on your team and the problem we’re solving. Those things are what bring us to work every day.
About Mystery.org
At Mystery.org, we believe it’s important that children stay curious as they grow up. We will ensure that the next generation sees it’s an amazing world we live in, full of possibility and wonder — and that they learn how to figure things out for themselves.
We’re doing this by building the missing internet for children. Our first tool was created for children to use in the classroom. We have teachers signed up from 89% of elementary schools in the U.S. and now 50% of schools use us every month. We’ve created one of the fastest-growing learning resources and a brand that is loved by children. Now, we’re developing a new version of our product for parents and children to use at home.
For three years running, our sales have doubled. We’ve exceeded $10M in annual recurring revenue and are growing quickly.
When we talk about “the missing internet for children,” we intend to give children an experience that grownups take for granted: the ability to instantly explore anything they wonder about. Most adults don't realize how inaccessible knowledge is to children. For their first ten years of life, any time a child wonders something all they can do is ask grownups: parents at home and teachers at school. There are 1 billion children in the world today, and we’re making it possible for them to explore their questions, wherever they are. Over the past decade, grownups have been given this superpower but children have been left behind. So we're collecting every question children ask and creating video explanations for all of them. We think this will be the most important learning tool ever created.
Meet The Team
On your first day at Mystery Science, you’ll meet a group of ~50 people who are passionate about learning and who each love their respective crafts. Our co-founder, Doug Peltz, began by assembling a team of the best explainers in the world from the Exploratorium, Klutz, Stanford, the Field Museum, and leading private schools. Our CEO, Keith Schacht, followed this by building a team of strong product engineers and designers. Keith was previously at Facebook as the product manager for News Feed and Messenger.
This focus on people extends to every area of the company. We’re building the team that we want to work with.
Inspired?
If you are inspired by our mission and passionate about helping teachers succeed and transforming science education for kids, we’d like to hear from you!

The Modern Firm: Website Support Specialist for Law Firm Websites
Tumblr media
Headquarters: Ann Arbor, MI URL: https://www.themodernfirm.com
Role Introduction:
We work exclusively with small law firms across the country to develop, manage and promote their websites. We are looking for a person with excellent customer service and critical thinking skills to help our clients with their WordPress based websites. The person in this role will have a good grip on how to work with and modify websites within the WordPress ecosystem and have ability to help our clients and company with four primary things.
Updating website content and adding features as requested by clients.
Proactively auditing client websites to stay on top of handicap accessibility, speed ratings and overall website freshness.
Assisting our website development team with simple to intermediate WordPress theme modifications and the technical end of launching a website.
Helping our company with internal projects such as process documentation and keeping client records updated.
This role is primarily client-facing with support issues being handled by email, phone and screen sharing.
About Us:
The Modern Firm, LLC is a branding, website design and online marketing agency for solo and small firm attorneys throughout the US. In business for nearly 20 years, we have worked with 1000+ law firms in nearly every state (still holding out for Hawaii and Rhode Island) and have a dedicated and creative team of 10, mostly remote, employees and another 10+ regular contractors. We’re headquartered out of Ann Arbor, MI but our team, while mostly in the midwest, is from coast (NC) to coast (WA).
About Our Clients:
We work with small law firms throughout the United States. The majority of our clients are solo to five-attorney firms. We go to great lengths to screen new clients and ensure that their needs and expectations are an overall good fit for our services and approach. Most of our clients are successful and established and are looking for a website to validate, enhance and further grow their practice. They are also typically overwhelmed with both being a lawyer and running a law firm. This is where we come in. When we are at our best we are essentially serving as their outsourced web and online marketing department, taking nearly everything related to their online presence off of their plate and onto ours. When we’re successful, we are helping our clients get more fulfillment out of running their practice and enabling them to help more people.
About Our Websites:
The sites we create are custom built in Wordpress using a parent theme/framework we’ve specially developed for law firms. They are straightforward, fast and easy to navigate. They tell the firm’s story and give a feel for the firm’s personality. In addition to validating and legitimizing the law firm to prospective clients, our websites serve as a primary marketing tool. When combined with our online marketing services, the websites bring in a steady flow of prospective business. You can see examples here and on our portfolio.

https://www.balmerlawoffice.com/
https://www.michelleboslegal.com/
https://www.schreiber-law.com/
https://www.cndefenders.com/
About The Job:
As stated above, this position has four primary components. Here is expanded information on each:
Assisting clients with website support requests: When our clients would like to update their website they typically email the request to us. All requests are tracked in our helpdesk software. The people in this role must be able accurately understand, discuss, clarify and see requests through to completion while taking up minimal time from the client. Requests range from straightforward content updates, to installing plugins, making design changes, migrating hosting, updating photos, etc. Essentially all of the day-to-day things that come up with owning a website. You’ll also be delivering basic training to clients (when they request it), teaching them how to log into their website to publish new material and make basic edits.
Proactive website care: Something that sets our company apart is that we don’t sit back and wait for problems or client requests. We have a system set up to automatically prompt us to audit client websites to see if there are issues we should be fixing or bringing to their attention. We find this greatly enhances our relationship with the client and leads to many opportunities for up-selling services, or simply letting them know when things are getting stale. Typical issues we look for are blogs that haven’t been updated, date and experience references that are old, contact forms that are not working, broken links, and outdated content.
Assisting our website development team: Our development team is highly focused on the branding, messaging, design and initial programming of the website. As the website gets closer to completion, assistance is needed from the support team for minor CSS and programming tweaks and changes to the website theme. A support team member will also launch the website, so this involves tracking down domain names, making DNS changes and getting the website live on our servers (or the client’s 3rd party host).
Internal projects: During moments of down-time, we always have several in-house projects going on that can use a helping hand. Most frequently these projects will involve creating internal documentation for our processes, drafting FAQs or an instructional guide for our website, updating client records and other important but less time sensitive items than direct client service.
A Day In The Job May Look Like:
Handling of 10-15 minor helpdesk tickets that take anywhere from 5-10 minutes each
Auditing of 1-2 websites that takes 15-30 minutes each
Working on 2-3 more involved tickets or launching a website
Training a client via screen-sharing on how to use WordPress (30-45 minutes)
Helping the website team with adjustments to a WordPress theme
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Excellent writing, communication and time management skills
Experience working remotely and with remote teams

Tuple: macOS developer for remote pair programming app
Tumblr media
Headquarters: Boston, MA URL: https://tuple.app
tl;dr: We're growing quickly and could use another excellent engineer with macOS experience to work with our CTO. We're in Boston, but remote is ok if you have substantial time-zone overlap.
Who we are
Tuple is a macOS app for remote pair programming.
We founded the company 2 years ago because we hated pairing over Slack and Zoom, and believed that by focusing on remote pairing exclusively, we could create a tool developers would actually like.
We bootstrapped the company from our own savings, and haven't hired anyone beyond part-time consultants. The full-time team is still just our three cofounders: Ben, Spencer, and Joel.
We're still in the scrappy startup phase: our "office" is Joel's second bedroom.
Despite these constraints, things are working really well. We have many hundreds of happy customers and thousands of paid users. We're growing revenue way faster than most bootstrapped business.
Want even more details on how things are going? Ben hosts a weekly podcast where he shares regular updates.
Role overview
We'd like to hire a macOS developer to work full-time with our CTO, Spencer. He's been doing the work of a team of engineers, and it's time for him to have an extra set of hands.
You should expect to pair with him (using Tuple, naturally) fairly regularly.
We love junior developers, but this role is for someone senior.
About you
Here's how to tell if you'd be a good fit for this job.
Must-haves
You've built substantial macOS apps and are very familiar with the ecosystem and APIs.
You have deep knowledge of Swift or Objective-C.
You believe in the power of pair programming (here's our take on it).
You're an excellent written communicator.
You're grizzled enough to know that restarting Xcode is (unfortunately) a valid debugging technique.
Nice-to-haves
You have C or C++ experience.
You’ve made significant use of WebRTC (native and/or web).
You have experience writing automated tests in complex domains.
You're in love with or have been on a few dates with Rust. You're excited about your future together.
You're not afraid of sitting down with a tasty beverage and digging into an RFC. Low-level internals excite, rather than scare you.
Things you might work on
Tuple presents a fairly simple interface to its users, but under the covers it's a complicated piece of software that must solve many interesting problems:
Audio engineering/DSP
Video encoding
SIMD and general hardware acceleration. Finding ways to push work from CPU to GPU.
Building robust cross-platform libraries
Real-time WebSocket messaging
Metal/OpenGL rendering
Working with FFI and building cross-language tools
Devops and infrastructure tooling
Low-level keycodes and mouse acceleration curves
Building UIs with SwiftUI
We don't expect you to understand all these topics, but would like you to be eager to start exploring them.
Why you might want to work with us
We're tiny, so there are no layers of bureaucracy to work through. You can have a huge impact here.
We rarely have meetings.
You can work remotely as long as you have substantial overlap with Boston's time zone.
Outside of the hours you'll be pairing with Spencer, you can work whenever you like.
You'll have a front-row seat at an early-stage, fast-growing company. If you hope to start your own thing some day, this could be good preparation.
Spencer has substantial management experience, and can help you shape a career you're excited about.
Why you might not want to work with us
This is a contract position (1099, rather than W2), and doesn't include benefits like a 401k or health insurance (fwiw, we the founders don't have these things either). This could change later this year, though.
Two things are simultaneously true:
We are growing quickly and customers mostly love our product.
Lots of things are suboptimal or broken. Classic startup stuff, ya know?
Pay
We're looking for someone great, not someone cheap.
If you're expensive but incredible, we can probably make it work.

You get a kick out of imagining what's possible and then realizing it through code. You have a not-so-secret obsession with solving complex problems. You're aware that your job isn't over when that code gets deployed.
You have high integrity, are self-motivated, and a life-long learner. You're not afraid to dive into uncharted territory and are open to updating your opinions based on new information. You communicate thoughtfully and grasp ideas easily. You're constantly pushing yourself to grow and become the most authentic & full expression of yourself.

You'll work with the latest technologies that power the web. On the back-end, you'll work with Node.js, AWS, Google Cloud, Redis, Mongo, Docker, FFmpeg, HLS, DASH & more. All of these are subject to change with time and your input. At times you may need to work on the front-end, and there you'll mainly work with React (sometimes Angular), CSS-in-JS & WebRTC.
We value ownership and the ability to take an idea through all of the stages from conception to shipping a product. As an engineer at Crowdcast, you'll be highly independent and autonomous. There are no bosses.
Your skills & experience
You've seen the good, the bad, the ugly, and the just plain weird sides of the internet.
4+ years of engineering experience. Comfortable working across multiple platforms and environments. Have solid engineering fundamentals (CS degree a plus, but not required).
Very proficient in server-side languages and a track record of running micro-services in production. Experience with typed languages a plus (Typescript, Java).
You have multiple years of experience managing non-trivial software running in the cloud (AWS or others).
Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform. You keep up with the ever-changing landscape of web application stacks and cloud platforms.
You have your own opinions on how to build web services that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable—and you’re always open to being informed by other people’s opinions.
You're obsessed with security and performance.
You know your way around working with video (a plus but not required).
Benefits & Perks
A competitive salary with equity
Healthcare Coverage (including dental & vision)
Flexible hours – We're remote-first, you pick when you work

Paid Maternal/Paternal Leave
Unlimited Vacation Policy – Take time off to take care of yourself
Flexible PTO & Sick leave
