I was thinking that for his au, the monsters very often practice witchcraft while the humans usually don't touch it

And the reason the humans locked the monsters away was out of fear of the unknown, since the monsters were so in touch with what was beyond the veil, the humans were afraid of their power (both in monster magic and manifestation witchcraft)
