When Kate’s cell phone alarm went off, she looked at the time, and realized that she had about an hour until she was supposed to meet Regina. In all the excitement of the night before, she had completely forgotten about their plans. She had spent most of the night sitting in an empty hotel room listening to and dissecting Voightavia’s recordings; even though she had lied to Winston and told him she was working. It wasn’t something she planned to do; but after the night she had, she needed to be away from home; and alone. It was much easier to sit in an empty hotel room with a bottle (or two) of vodka, and listen to the recordings without having to explain her reasoning to anyone, including Winston. She just hoped that it didn’t get back to Winston that she was not working last night. Kate’s mind drifted back to the phone call that changed everything the night before. 
About fifteen or twenty minutes after hanging up with Regina, her cell phone rang and it was Jax about something that happened at the hotel. When she arrived at the hotel minutes later, she learned from Jax that there had been a fist fight between Ryder McKay and Mitchell Lansing. The second Jax said Mitch’s name, Kate’s anger that had been building up for the past six weeks. She had been waiting to talk to Voightavia’s boyfriend since the moment she had listened to Voightavia’s recordings about their relationship. But she had no idea where he was; and the fact that he wasn’t even anywhere to be found on the day of Voightavia’s funeral the month before, was enough of a red flag for Kate. She kept asking Jax where Mitch was and when he told her that both Ryder and Mitch had been arrested, along with Winita, who had been the main reason for the fight, she wasn’t entirely surprised. From the recordings, it was clear to Kate, that Winita was definitely crucial in the recent events of Voightavia and Mitch’s relationship. 
Confronting Mitch would have to wait though; because she had no plans of heading to the police station to talk to him. It helped that he was her brother’s stepson; or at least she hoped that Hotchner would let her near Mitch. Immediately after realizing that she was in no condition to go home, she called Winston and told him that she had to work. And spent the night alone drinking and listening to every single recording of Voightavia’s on repeat, for the umpteenth time. It was like she expected to hear something different; something that would further help explain things or something that would make her feel less guilty for not seeing everything her daughter had been going through. 
Kate sighed to herself as she crawled out of bed, with one of the biggest hangover headaches ever. She wasn’t even sure how she was going to make herself appear normal during her lunch with Regina. She knew that she had to; because if anything got back to Steele, she was more than sure it would get back to Winston. And just the other day, Kate had promised Winston that she had stopped drinking. That was another lie; Kate was batting a 1000 here with honesty to her husband. Not only was she still drinking, but she had also started taking sleeping pills, hence why she was able to sleep though most of the day. Natural sleep was something that rarely came to her these day. Climbing into the shower, Kate quickly washed her hair and splashed water on her face in an effort to ‘sober up’ faster. When she came out of the bathroom, she looked at the half empty bottle of vodka on the dresser, and felt a small sense of shame. She knew that she needed to stop but she also knew if she stopped, she’d have to deal with the loss more; and that -- that was something that she was just not ready for. 
Ten minutes until she was supposed to meet Regina, Kate picked up her cell phone and dialed Winston’s number. She wanted to hear his voice. As she made her way down to the lobby where Regina would be, she heard Winston’s voice on the other end of the phone, asking her how work went the night before. Great, she’d have to lie some more; this was wonderful. Lying her way though most of the conversation, Kate made sure to mention meeting with Regina, because that was the one truthful aspect of the phone conversation. As was Winita’s arrest, which Winston already knew about, because Winita had mentioned it. Kate felt like asking if Winita being released, meant that Mitch had as well. But, she pushed the question out of her head; she didn’t want to sound like she needed to know that much.  After a few more minutes of talking to Winston, Kate told him she loved him and they ended the call. Just as she was hanging up, she spotted Regina sitting at one of the tables. Kate walked over to the table Regina was at, and smiled at her daughter. 
“Well, look who is early; that’s usually my job. But I was working on some paperwork in the office.”
Great, now she was lying to Regina too? This was wonderful; though at least the lie wasn’t too much of one. She pushed the guilt aside and focused on her daughter. She couldn’t appear to be anything but normal right now, because she knew if Regina sensed anything, she’d probably tell Steele innocently, and Steele would mention it to Winston, And it would just turn into a thing, that Kate just didn’t want to deal with. 
“So, do you want anything to drink or eat? I can tell you this, I need food. I haven’t eaten anything all day, and I’m starved! My treat! Whatever you want. And than, we can talk about what you wanted to talk about, because I assume you didn’t just want to meet to discuss my boring work life…”

Identifying Your Inferior Function
Here is a brief description of what each function is like as an inferior.  Your dominant function may be so second nature to you that you do not even notice it, so trying to identify your inferior may help you find your type.
Inferior Fe: I’m not good at dealing with other people’s feelings.  I can have emotional explosions when under extreme stress.  I don’t mind offending someone with the truth, but I feel uncomfortable when my relationships are in turmoil.
Inferior Fi: When under extreme stress, I can be overwhelmed with emotions that I don’t know how to handle.  I lose my drive and feel listless.  I don’t always pay attention to where I’m trying to go because I’m trying so hard to get things done.
Inferior Te: I procrastinate and have a hard time finishing things.  I’m really disorganized, but sometimes I get stressed and want to put things in order.  I tend to snap at people and become harsh under pressure.
Inferior Ti: I like to understand why people do the things they do.  People doing things that don’t make sense to me is so frustrating.  I can feel like I’m going around and around in circles trying to figure something out when I’m under stress.
Inferior Ne: I like to feel secure.  Stress causes me to start thinking about things that could go wrong, and I get overwhelmed and worry.  Sometimes I need a push to get me to do things because I’m focusing on worst-case scenarios.
Inferior Ni: I like to enjoy my life and not worry too much about the future.  When I get really stressed out though, the future seems bleak and unchangeable.  I can start to worry about something that might never even happen, but it feels inevitable at the time.
Inferior Se: I’m not good at making fast decisions and like to have time to think.  I try not to overindulge.  Try being the key word.  I have a weakness for junk food, and sometimes I watch four seasons of a TV show in three days.
Inferior Si: I’m usually not very good with details, but when I’m under a lot of stress I focus on them.  I get so picky and want to do everything just right.

Hello! I just found your blog and I'm loving it so far! Anyway, could you explain what it means when a person is "unhealthy" in MBTI?
Unhealthy Cognitive Functions
Being unhealthy in MBTI means that you use your functions in a way that’s detrimental to yourself or others. This unhealthy state occurs when the function is not working together healthfully with the other functions in your stack (particularly with its functional opposite, e.g. Ne/Si, Te/Fi etc). 
Here are some negative patterns and behaviors that may manifest through unhealthy use of each function: 
Extroverted Intuition (Ne): flakiness, complete rejection of traditional methods, fear of commitment, detachment from reality, extreme indecisiveness, avoidance of mundane tasks
Introverted Intuition (Ni): single-mindedness, refusal to back up conclusions with evidence, lack of spontaneity, dismissal of other opinions, “all or nothing” goal mentality, obsessive visualization, self perception as “all knowing”
Extroverted Sensing (Se): overindulgence, flightiness, recklessness, physical aggression, complete rejection of the theoretical, refusal to plan ahead, acting without considering the consequences
Introverted Sensing (Si): rejection of novelty, fixation on the past, obsession with detail, stagnancy, complete disregard of contradictory information, always “play it safe”
Extroverted Thinking (Te): aggressiveness, need for control, need for dominance, ruthlessness, lack of consideration of others feelings, black and white thinking
Introverted Thinking (Ti): overanalyzing, obsessive search for truth, extreme skepticism, harsh criticism, outright rejection of group institutions or norms
Extroverted Feeling (Fe): manipulation, obsession with social standing, spinelessness, desperation for approval, emotional volatility, self-neglect, rejection of logical reasoning
Introverted Feeling (Fi): excessive stubbornness, self-richeousness, special snowflake syndrome, selfishness, hypersensitivity, rejection of objective decision-making
Also, aside from unhealthy individual functions, there are also unhealthy states, which occur when you overuse your lower (tertiary and inferior) functions. There are two kinds of unhealthy states:
loop: pattern of overusing the the tertiary function in replacement of the auxiliary function (click here for a previous post on loops). Basically it makes you either an unhealthily extroverted extrovert or an unhealthily introverted introvert.
grip: overuse of the inferior function in replacement of the dominant function. This is no good, as your dominant function is your strongest asset and ally if used in a healthy way, and your inferior function is generally your most underdeveloped.
