It’s Valentine’s Day ... let’s play a game.

Jade sighed and nodded, understanding what the girl meant. After she came back from the prison world she knew that she had to acclimate, figure out things for herself but sometimes she wondered if she was better off back where she was away from everyone. Once the brunette asked about how things were she couldn’t help but laugh.  “Things …” she chuckled and sighed as she moved back into her dorm room. “The mud monster stuff is back, your friends are fighting again, and Alaric is letting them figure things out on their own” she grumbled knowing that the tribrid knew how she felt about the Boarding school director.   “But Josie’s back, like … the real her not dark Josie,” she finished. “And all of that had to be hard on you,” she said as she sat at the edge of the bed. “No wonder you needed to have a break” she said with a small smile. “But you sure you’re okay?” She often wondered about her, about how everything seemed to fall on her shoulders. At that moment Milton came running up the stairs, looking for Raf. He was going on about how the necromancer and Jade had to tune him out. Another problem. More weight for Hope and Jade stood up and told Milton to have Ric figure it out. He’s the adult. “Also, she just woke up in case you haven’t noticed, at least tell her thanks for saving your best friends” 

She wasn’t sure why she was so annoyed, but here she was, making a big deal out of something that wasn’t her business.

Jade was probably one of the best things to come out of the whole prison world fiasco, and Hope was GLAD she had stuck around. She might not feel the same because this was a weird way to end up back in the school, but Hope took a breath as she neared her. “Hey, Jade,” she offered up, giving her a nod of acknowledgement. “What are you up to?”

Jade knew it was a mistake telling Hope about her Ripper issue, and the young girl decided to get her help. Help from a gorgeous original vampire who tempted her far too much and not just with compelled girls. There were brief moments that she thought the attraction was more than one sided but she decided she wouldn’t go down that route again. Instead she took her guidance but this drew the line.

She took an unnecessary deep breath and the sweetness from the girls blood became her only focus as the veins around her eyes deepened. Rebekah showed her different ways to cope but this was the first time she was around a bleeding human. She repeated to herself don’t kill her as she approached. Taking her time, looking at Rebekah instead of the girl.

“Don’t let me kill her” she whispered. She didn’t like not being in control so she was determined on controlling this if it was the last thing she did. Somehow, focusing on Rebekah instead of feeding helped her. She felt euphoric but was also fully aware. The girls heartbeat became faint and she was able to pull away to rip into her wrist and feed the girl, not noticing the blood on the corner of her lip. “Original ripper training ...” Jade teased as she smiled over at Rebekah after she compelled the girl to go home and to forget all about this. “I never thought I’d be able to do that after the last time” when she killed those Mystic Falls kids.

Rebekah didn’t care, didn’t care that after all Jade shared with her she still had a human compelled so they could have a bite. Her mouth watered at the sight of blood on the beautiful blondes lips. “No, I have- I have to go. I can’t do this” she repeated yet couldn’t move. She felt transfixed. She wanted a taste. Needed a taste. “Watching me rip out her throat won’t be a fun bit Rebekah” she growled out once she was able to jerk away and turn her back. “When I told you I was a ripper and felt ashamed for what I did in my past did that somehow translate to ‘yeah I’ll bring her a human to toy with?” Running her fingers in her hair she tried to control her breathing and take as many steps away from them as possible.

Rippers, Rebekah noticed, were a remarkably skittish bunch when sober. “She’s not a toy, she’s a test,” The Original corrected with a roll of her blue eyes. As if this should have been obvious to even the simplest of minds. Rebekah dropped the compelled girl, approaching Jade. “You’re not going to get control feeding on blood bags alone darling, you need practice. Trust me, you’re not the first Ripper I’ve dealt with.” Stefan had denied himself his basic urges for so long and look at what happened. Running from the blood lust would do nothing to help Jade control it. “It may not look like it but I am trying to help.”

Once her humanity came back she was able to appreciate what she learned in the prison world. Before she didn’t see the point of the Boarding school, hated Alaric for so long that when she came back she saw the place as a safe haven. She made friends again after Wendy left, one of them being Hope. Hope who had been in some sort of coma from what she’s been able to gather after the whole Darth Vader Josie.

After another malivore monster made its way to the school after the field day she skipped she was heading up to her room when she saw her. “Hope?” she asked with furrowed brow as she approached her. She seemed the same young girl who became so close to her but no one had said anything about her coming back. “Is it really you?” Before she could ever respond she engulfed her in her arms and hugged her tightly. “What are you up to? Really? That’s what you’re going to go with after you come back from your sleeping beauty nap?” She wasn’t mad, not with the smile that graced the blue eyes vampire.

She had to leave. Being cooped up in the Salvatore School while people were being cruel to Josie just had her on edge. “I want to rip their throats out” she confessed to Raf once. Especially that Alyssa girl. Josie messed up sure but she had put her magic away. Walked around with the world on her shoulders. Closer herself off from everyone.

What more do they want?

So when she realized her anger came from her own feelings of shame and regret she needed time away. Alaric didn’t even bat an eye when she told him, “you’ve shown you’ve changed Jade, I trust you” which only made her shame worse. She wanted to drain every single person there and he didn’t notice. But he didn’t even notice the pain his daughters were in so what would make her any different? Jade was taking the students reactions to Jo personally and when the younger girl pushed her away it was time for her to move on.

As she packed her bags she heard him before he said anything. “Listen Milton—“ she started knowing he hated it which always prompted him to say It’s MG which made her smile. “Make sure she’s okay will you?” Everyone knew who she worried about yet he smiled and asked “who? Hope?” She shook her head and threw the backpack over her shoulder. “You’re part of this school Jade, you belong here” he tried one last time. Without another word she backed out of her room and collided with the last person she thought she’d see.

I could have stopped it, but i froze. Maybe i didn’t want to prove them right about us being different, or maybe part of me wanted it to happen. Everything after that’s a blur. Jade knew she was being ridiculous but seeing Penelope back and flirting with her girlfriend threw her over the edge. It also didn’t help that when she saw Penelope and Josie, Lizzie walked up to her right when all her insecure thoughts were filtering through her head. She was her first love you know? The blonde witch taunted her but all she heard was You don’t compare and when Josie turned to look at her she took a deep breath, gave her a small smile then walked away which lead Josie to seek her out. 

“Lizzie just got in my head again,” she whispered and looked down at her feet as she made her way over to her, a small smile lifting her lips as she came to stand mere inches from her. “And I know you only have eyes for me ... but so many have eyes for you that ... I might get a little jealous sometimes.” She looked up at her and reached for her hand, giving her palm a squeeze then leaned in to brush her lips against hers.
