5 Million Dollars 

What would you do if you won 5 million dollars?

Picture One: Lilly would spend 3 million dollars on college funds. Each child would get 1 million put into a fund for their education. She would do this because she struggled to get through her college years. She wouldn't want her children to have to worry about paying their own way through college. Their focus would be able to stay on their studies.

Picture Two: Lilly would donate 1 million to charity. charity work is very important to her, and she would want to make sure to help others in need. Since Lilly works with children in foster care and helps children who have been abused, she would try to find a charity that could help those children.

Picture Three: Lilly would finally use 1/2 a million to update her home. All of the children's rooms would get a bit of updating, but putting in a home library with rare, and first-edition books, would be something Lilly would do. Ever since watching Beauty and the Beast, Lilly had dreamed of having a library that amazing, so if she won money, she would most certainly make that dream come true for herself.

Picture 3: With the last 1/2 a million, Lilly would go on a little shopping spree with her children, godchild, and maybe a couple of friends. She would want to spend a little money spoiling people who have been there for her, but her item of choice for herself, would be candles. Lilly has a huge candle collection, so she would finally be able to really expand on that and get scents for every season.

Task 

Life had been pretty dark for Lilly. Everything seemed to be crashing down around her, and she felt like she was suffocating. It was hard carrying on like nothing had happened, but she couldn’t talk to people about it. Instead of talking, she avoided it. Eloise and Sejun were the hardest to avoid. They were the two people she saw the most. El was used to being around a lot because she took care of Adlee when Lilly was at work. Luckily, Lilly had an excuse. She was packing and worrying about moving, so she had to take time off. Sejun had enough going on in his life, so Lilly just tried to pretend to be busy and happy around the two of them, but she knew they were starting to notice. It wasn’t until the Gossip queen started to post about her that people really started to reach out and check on her. Lilly hated this, she didn’t like attention on her, especially when her life was falling to pieces. She had this persona to keep up. She was the light and happy person who was always there for everybody, but now she was damaged. It was a lot to handle, and she was worried about how people would look at her if they really knew what was going on. 

It was the morning that the queen posted about all of her bruises and hospital visits that Lilly started to get calls. She had been ignoring them, not ready to speak about anything. Now that Adlee was taking a nap, Lilly settled onto her couch with a cup of coffee, the only thing that had been keeping her awake lately. Breezing through her messages she sighed. Sejun wanted to know what the bruises were about, Eloise messaged, and so many others. It was sad that she was combing through them all hoping to hear from Emilio. Of course, he hadn’t bothered to check up on her. He was too busy worrying about himself. Some days she missed him so much, but today she was angry. He had made all sorts of promises to her, but then never showed up when she needed him the most. He was the only person who was there with her and knew what happened, but he didn’t seem to care. She was disposable to him, and it left her wondering why she had ever given her heart to him at all. She had never wanted to be in a relationship, that is how you get your heart broken, but then Emilio happened. What she thought was the best-unexpected surprise, ended up being the biggest heartbreak of her life.

Lilly was about to set her phone back down and ignore it all. She was already feeling anxious and overwhelmed, but then she saw Lucy’s name flash across the screen. Lucy was one of the sweetest people Lilly knew. They had a great bond as mothers, and even though Lilly had ignored her a lot lately, Lucy still showed up and picked Adlee up for playdates. She never pushed Lilly to talk, but right now maybe she needed to. Lucy wouldn’t force her to talk about anything she wasn’t ready to. In fact, she probably wouldn’t even mention the gossip, even though Lilly knew she had to have seen it. Maybe talking about anything else but herself could get her out of this current black hole of depression she was wallowing in. Before she could change her mind, Lilly pressed the green “answer” button and let out a small sigh. “Luc? Hello…. How are you?” She asked. The moment she heard her friend talking she forgot about the gossip being posted about her, and relaxed into her couch.

Pride Recipe 🏳️‍🌈

Rainbow Swirl Cheesecake bars

Prep: 45 minutes Total: 4 hr 25 mins Serves: 24

Ingredients

1box (16.25 oz) Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix 

1/2cup butter, melted 

1egg 

2/3cup milk, plus 9 extra teaspoons 

Betty Crocker™ gel food colors Neon Pink, Orange and Purple 

Betty Crocker™ gel food colors Yellow, Green, and Blue 

1-1/2 blocks (12 oz.) cream cheese, softened 

1/3cup sugar 

1egg 

1teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps

Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a 9x13-inch pan with non-stick foil or line with parchment paper and spray with baking spray.

RAINBOW CAKE BATTERS: Combine cake mix, melted butter, egg and 2/3 cup milk in a mixing bowl. Stir until combined. The batter will be thick like a brownie mix. Equally, divide the batter into 6 bowls. Color one bowl purple, another blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink. Reserve 1 tablespoon of each colored batter for the top of bars.

Spoon teaspoonfuls of colored batter into the bottom of the pan, alternating colors as you go. Wet your hands slightly and press on the batter, flattening it where needed. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon milk to each of the remaining tablespoons of colored batter to thin them out.

CHEESECAKE LAYER: Stir together cream cheese and sugar (or pulse in a food processor). Add egg and vanilla extract and stir until smooth. Pour cheesecake filling over layer of cake batter. Drizzle the thinned out colored batter over cheesecake filling, then swirl using a fork or knife. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Cover pan with foil for remaining baking time to keep the colored swirls from browning. Return to oven for 14-20 minutes.

Cool at room temperature for about an hour, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. The center will still jiggle slightly and will firm up as it cools. When ready to serve, cut into 24 squares. Store in the refrigerator.

Task 31

If your character was an animal, which animal would they be? Lilly would be an Orca Whale. She loves the water, staying around those she is closest to and is very protective of her daughter as an orca would be of their children. 

Does your character pick wildflowers when they see them? Lilly sometimes picks flowers, but most of the time it's her daughter who is picking the flowers, and Lilly finds a little vase or cup to put them in. 

How do they see themselves in their head? Is the image accurate, or not? Lilly sees herself as unimportant, and somewhat of an outsider. She tries to change that mindset by always helping others, but at the end of the day, she has a hard time believing she really matters to somebody. 

If they talk in their sleep, what do they say most often? Lilly has a hard time falling asleep, or staying asleep when she does. She doesn’t talk in her sleep unless she is having a nightmare, but even then she tosses and turns more than talks in her sleep. 

Do they like muffins or cupcakes more? Why? Lilly loves both equally. She likes muffins for breakfast here and there, and cupcakes for dessert. She likes to take the bottom of her cupcake off and put it on top so it makes a sandwich with the frosting. 

Do they prefer arm day or leg day more? Uhm, neither? Lilly doesn’t go to the gym. She likes to walk, swim, or play sports badly, but she wouldn’t have a day for just working out her arms or legs, though she probably should. 

What is the longest your character has ever slept in? Lilly has never been much of a sleeper. In the Maldives, she had slept in with Adlee and Emilio until about 8 in the morning, but that was rare for her. 

What is their most embarrassing middle school moment? Lilly’s most embarrassing middle school moment was when she started her period while doing a presentation. When she turned around there was blood on her pants, and the entire class had seen it. Needless to say, she was mortified. 

What is/are their favorite pizza toppings? Lilly loves food, and isn’t really picky. A simple Pepperoni pizza is her favorite, but she likes a good Hawaiian, or meat lovers as well. 

What was the last dream they had? Lilly’s last dream consisted of her giving birth to the baby she lost. She watched the baby grow up with Adlee, then go to college, but woke up devastated, knowing it was not real. 

What is one possession they should get rid of, but can’t/won’t? Lilly doesn’t have a lot of extra things, besides books, blankets, and candles. She could probably downgrade some of her blankets, but won't because she loves collecting them, and swapping them out during different times of the year. 

If your character spray-painted a wall, what would they write/draw? Lilly would probably do some type of mural for Adlee. If not that, she would just have fun and see where the design took her. 

What would your character want their final words to be? Lilly would want her last words to be “I love you” to those she is closest to. 

What is one aspect of their physical appearance that they like? Lilly likes her eyes. They change colors depending on her mood or what she is wearing. They are normally green with gold flecks. 

Do they prefer jeans or sweatpants, or something else? Lilly likes jeans and sweatpants. Those are actually her go to items. When she is out and about she will go with jeans, or a dress, but at home, she lives in her sweats and pajamas. 

How far can your character spit a watermelon seed? Lilly has no idea how far she could spit a watermelon seed. It is nothing she has tried before. She usually picks them out before eating.

Are they more likely to notice the shapes of the clouds or the color of the sky? Lilly loves laying in the backyard with Adlee and looking at the shapes in the clouds. This is one of their favorite things to do. 

Do they laugh during serious moments? Lilly does sometimes laugh during serious moments, but she is more known to freeze and just go through the motions not saying anything. 

On a road trip, are they usually the driver, in the passenger seat, the DJ, the backseat driver, or the one napping in the back? Lilly is usually the driver. She does like being the passenger, and napping, but usually ends up doing most of the driving. 

Does your character sleep in normal clothes, pajamas, or something else? Lilly sleeps in pajamas or undergarments. She has way too many cute pairs of jammies, so she doesn’t waste the opportunity to wear them. 

When they sneeze, do they use their hand or elbow to cover their mouths? Lilly always uses her elbow to cover her mouth. She is somewhat of a germaphobe at times, and when she thinks of people sneezing in their hands, then touching things, it grosses her out. 

Someone asks your character to dance and pulls them out to the dancefloor. How would they react? Lilly is not great with crowds or random people. She is nice to everybody, but is normally the one in the corner, or connected to somebody she came with. If somebody randomly pulled her out onto the dancefloor, she wouldn’t want to be rude, so she would probably dance, but as soon as the song was over she would bolt. 

Are they more of a cat or a dog person? Lilly loves both, but is closest to dogs. She has three, but is always wanting to get more. 

What alternate time period would they enjoy living in? Lilly would love to live in the 50’s. She is old fashioned with clothing, morals, and just likes the lifestyle. 

Does your character keep a diary? If so, what do they write about? Lilly does keep a diary. She writes about her day events, worries, and desires. 

When they’re stressed, do they stress shop, bake, eat, clean, etc.? When Lilly is stressed she bakes, cleans, and goes for drives. 

Do they prefer raw cookie dough or fully baked cookies? Honestly, both. Lilly usually only eats one cookie after they are baked because she is full of all the cookie dough she ate. 

What game is your character bad at playing? Lilly is bad at playing most sports like games, but she has a fun time doing it anyway. 

Are they ticklish? Lilly is very ticklish. The bottom of her back, and sides are the most ticklish. 

What’s inside their car’s glove box? Lilly carries a lot in her glovebox. Obviously, the registration is in there, but she always has extra baby wipes, bandaids, a screwdriver, and a mini flashlight. 

What’s their birthstone? Do they like it? Why or why not? Topaz is Lilly’s birthstone. She loves it. It is different, and she has topaz earrings that she loves. 

Which Avenger is your character most like, personality-wise? Wanda would be Lilly’s Avenger type. Both of the girls have been through a lot of trauma, and sometimes it’s hard to handle all of that. She is curious, gentle minded, and eager to get along with others, but sometimes the darkness clouds who she is. 

Does your character pay attention to the weather forecast? Lilly really doesn’t care about the weather unless it’s snow. When there is going to be a blizzard or some sort of snow flurries, she will pay more attention to the forecast. Other than that, she doesn't really care. She always has a coat or change of clothes in her car for whatever weather situation there is. 

When was the last time your character got sick? Did anyone take care of them? Lilly hasn’t been sick physically in a while, but is currently mentally not well. 

What’s a weird/wacky/embarrassing story about them as a young child? As a kid Lilly liked to play with worms. She would build little worm houses for them, and make worm communities. 

If they eat steak, how do they like it cooked? Medium rare. That’s really the only way! 

Do they prefer to write with a pencil or a pen? If a pen, what color? Lilly writes with crayons a lot of the time at home, and at work usually a black pen.

 Imagine your character on the beach, waist-deep in the water. A big wave rolls up and towers over their head. Do they dive under the wave, body surf, freeze, and get swept off their feet, or something else? Lilly is pretty good in the water. She would probably body surf.

Lilly doesn’t clear her search history, unless she is planning a surprise for somebody. Her last five searches were for children play groups, where to find cheap new couches, recipes, and various self help searches. 

Does your character sing in the car? In the shower? Lilly sings “badly” all the time. She loves dancing and singing around the house, in the car, or even in line at the grocery store. 

Do they have a harder time going to sleep at night or getting out of bed in the morning? Lilly has a hard time getting to sleep, but wakes up very well. As soon as the alarm goes off she gets right out of bed. 

Would they rather fly or be immortal? Lilly would rather fly. She doesn’t want to be immortal. When it’s her time, it’s her time. 

What’s the dumbest way your character has been injured? Lilly has sprained her ankle from trying to save a cat in a tree. She slipped on a branch and got her foot all twisted. 

Are they able to fall asleep in the car? On an airplane? On a boat? Lilly doesn't fall asleep easily, but when she does she can fall asleep anywhere. 

How do they like their coffee or tea? Lilly loves both coffee and tea. She likes coffee in all sorts of different ways. She can drink it black, or blended into a frappuccino. She prefers her tea with no sugar or honey, just the flavor of whatever tea she is having. Peppermint is her favorite.

Ras' favorite past vacation memory is when he was 17, after successfully graduating high school and getting clean from drugs, his father and his husband took him to Disney World, where for the first time in his life, he could live a part of his childhood that he had never experienced. Fun, family, and love. Just being with them was enough to make him the happiest in the world, and the entire trip will live in his memory forever

The girl's father left when they were both very young. Their mother worked two jobs to make sure she was providing for the family. When Calliope turned 12, her mother met a new man. Their romance seemed like something from a movie, love at first sight. Within five months they were married. The girls loved Sean, but as soon as he was settled in, they started to see a different side to him. He drank all the time, and little by little became extremely abusive. After a couple of years, Calliope watched her hardworking mother turn into an alcoholic alongside her husband. They fought every moment they weren't having sex. The girls were left to fend for themselves most of the time. The moment Calliope got her period, her stepfather started to take advantage of her. This went on for years until she couldn’t handle it. Sean was beating her mother so badly and had just gotten done molesting his daughters. Calliope grabbed a knife and walked up behind him and just started to stab.  At that moment, something inside of Calliope changed. She liked being in control and getting revenge on the man who had been hurting her family for years. Unfortunately, Calliope's mother couldn’t handle it all and committed suicide. Calliope and her sister were placed in separate foster homes and the moment she turned eighteen she went off on her own. Calliope met James and they got married pretty quickly. She loved that he saw the world like she did. They wanted to eliminate anybody who got in their path. When Calliope found out she was pregnant she had been so scared. Part of her wanted to change her life and give her baby the life her mom had given her before she turned into an alcoholic, but another part of her knew this child was only going to get in her way. When she gave birth to Lilly she had a moment where she tried to convince James to just be happy with her and their child, but their itch to kill was too strong. Lilly was not their concern, in fact, she strained their lifestyle. Calliope and James carried on with their murdering until they were finally caught. Now she is spending her life in prison, and trying to help her husband continue their mission. Deep down a part of her wants to change, but she thrives off the power and controlling a group of people.

10) Write a brief 8+ sentence bio about this character. James Romano grew up in a single-parent household. He had two brothers, and one sister, all of them have different fathers but are stuck in their mother’s custody. His mother did whatever she needed to do to make rent, and have some sort of food in the house. This meant there were always strange men coming in and out of the house. James was beaten, sexually assaulted, and harassed until the time he finally stuck up for himself. By the time James was sixteen, he was out on his own. He stayed with friends, and never really missed his family. His siblings had wanted to go with him, but all James cared about was getting himself out of the abusive home, and figured his siblings would have to figure things out on their own like he had to. As James continued to get older his anger for the world grew. He found himself hating anybody who crossed him, and would retaliate in the worst ways. When he met Calliope, he found his match. She was just as crazy and hated the world as much as he did. This was when they decided to purge the world of over-sexualized women,  men who had no backbone, or anybody who got in their way. The two of them started murdering people left and right. Then, Calliope got pregnant. James hated having a child. He looked at Lilly and wanted to kill her every moment of every day, but knew she was part of him, so he couldn’t. He tried to like her, he even tried to get close to her physically, but he hated her. Luckily Calliope and him had found a little shack of a home and continued on their killing spree while Lilly stayed home alone, even though she was just an infant.  Over time, James really came to love the art of murder. He thought he was doing the world some good by getting rid of people he hated. Unfortunately, like most murderers, James and his wife were caught. Since then, James has been building up a following of people who will continue the murders like he and his wife had done. He had recently reached out to his daughter in hopes that she would join their cause. Lilly seemed to want nothing to do with him, so James decided to make it his mission to not only purge the world of evil but make Lilly pay for not joining in. Even though he is behind bars for the rest of his life, James still has a lot of power.

Growing up Rose came from a huge family. Her parents had 13 children, and she was the third born. Having a big family meant that Rose often got looked over. She was a fantastic student, first chair in the band, and even did volunteer work with terminally ill children. While her older brother was off being the golden child, she fought hard to be noticed. Her parents tried their hardest, but Rose felt like she was not seen. All of the younger siblings looked up to Rose. When she was a teenager, that was when she decided she wanted to be a psychologist, or work with children somehow. Her high school years were amazing. All Rose did was study, do her work, and plan for college. After College Rose worked her way up from a youth counselor to a psychologist and then a social worker as well. She wanted to make a difference and help as many people as she could. When Lilly came in to interview for a job as a state youth counselor, she instantly saw herself in the young woman. Rose hired Lilly on the spot, took her under her wing, and not only did Lilly become one of her favorite employees, but she also became like family to Rose. As of now, Rose enjoys living in a small home with her husband, working, watching her grandchildren grow up, and baking cookies.

Things seemed to be going their way until the night of delivery. Just as they were about to pull into the hospital, a drunk driver smashed into their car. Harper's father died instantly, but her mother held on, until she was born. After hearing Harper cry she flatlined, and there was no saving her. As sad as it was losing her parents the day she was born, Harper did end up with an amazing family. Her adoptive parents Laurel and Thomas Elfonsa had been married for ten years. They wanted kids so bad but just couldn’t conceive. Thomas had been working at the hospital the night Harper was born, and something just felt right. Surprisingly one year after adopting Harper, Thomas and Laurel ended up having twins. The family was so close and always supported each other. Luckily, Harper won her over. For the eight months, Lilly was there, the girls became close, and Harper, knowing she was bisexual developed her first crush on Lilly, but always kept it to herself. When Lilly was placed in a different home, Harper was heartbroken. She thought she would never see her again. When it was time to go to college, Harper opted for the shared apartment living. She had no idea who she would be living with, but when Lilly Romano walked through the door, her jaw dropped. The girls fell back into their friendship instantly, and Harper's old feelings for the blonde resurfaced. For years she had wondered about Lilly, and even found out she was also bisexual. Unfortunately, Lilly never wanted to date. She was so closed off from opening up her heart, so Harper always kept her feelings to herself. As the years went by, it became harder for her to hide her feelings, and one night she opened up and told Lilly how she felt. She couldn’t blame her for not wanting to ever date, Lilly had been through hell, but it still broke her heart when Lilly said she didn’t think she would ever date anybody. Harper tried to be okay with it, and Lilly never treated her differently, but things were different. Their friendship was now tainted. Eric was devastated and didn’t want to go into foster care. Luckily, he had an aunt. His aunt Martha moved into the house he had been living with his mother in and was there for him. She was the one who got him on the right path in life. She made him feel like he could actually be something. Eric wanted to own his own restaurant one day. He didn’t want to cook, but he wanted to manage. He put himself through college and life seemed pretty good. During college, Eric met a woman named Eden. The two of them dated for two years and then got married. Life was pretty good, but three years ago everything changed. The loan Eric had applied for was declined, Eden got pregnant, and his aunt Martha, the only family he knew, passed away. Everything piled down on Eric, and he started drinking. When going through his aunt's belongings he found out who his father was, James Romano. James was a serial killer serving time in prison. Eric felt disgusted that he was a product of that man. He did a little digging and realized he also had a half-sister named Lilly. When he looked Lilly up he was amazed she came from two horrible people and ended up doing so well for herself. He wanted to reach out but didn’t want to cause any damage to her life. His drinking only got worse, and this caused issues with his wife. When Eric’s daughter was born he tried to quit the drinking, but life continued to pile on his shoulders. Eventually, the fighting got so bad Eden and Eric got divorced, and he had to spend every last drop of his money fighting to get joint custody of his daughter. Eric is now eight months sober, carrying a full-time job, and trying to figure out how to make more of his life, and his degree. He wanted to be something for his daughter. He has also been struggling with the idea of reaching out to his half sister. He wants family, and he wants his daughter to have it as well, but he is still struggling and doesn’t know if he can handle anything else in his life besides what he has going on already.

Archibald had figured he would never get married seeing as he never saw a stable relationship growing up. His parents were foster parents and had so many kids coming in and out. They slaved the kids, punished them unfairly, and also beat each other. It was not a healthy way to grow up, but when Arch met Greta he thought he could actually make love work. Being as self-absorbed as he was, Greta had a hard time feeling seen at times. Over the first three years of marriage, they started to crack. Greta and Archibald thought that having a baby would help mend things. They tried for a child, and after having six miscarriages, they decided to foster. Things did seem to get better for a while. Life seemed to be perfect, but after getting two foster children, Greta found out she was actually pregnant. This pregnancy went full term, but on the day of delivery, Greta died. Something in Archibald changed. He went back to his manipulative ways and had to take care of his child alone, along with the foster children they already had. Eventually Arch got as bad as his father, and the children who came into his home were basically little slaves to him. If they back talked to him he punished them in the cruelest ways in hopes that they would learn, and not act out again. Along the way, Archibald started to strive for the control and power he felt when he was punishing or making his foster children do what he wanted. Whenever a complaint came along, he would woo the social worker, and get an even bigger high than before. When Lilly came into the house, she was eleven.  Archibald heard who her parents were and thought of her as some sort of blessing. She was the first foster child he abused sexually. Two years later, Lilly was taken out of his home, and he felt like a piece of him was missing. For years he tried to fill that first high he got by taking advantage of her, but nothing quite measured up. A few years back, Lilly had done something that surprised him. She had become a counselor. She had gone to social services and reported him. Archibald was furious and did his best to hold himself together. When no charges were filed, he kept his head down and just focused on his job, and the children in his home. It wasn’t until last week when he was out shopping that he spotted her. Lilly Grace. Archibald knew he couldn’t touch her, she was working for the state, and he didn’t want his life to be torn apart, but he did know he would have to corner her one day and make sure she never messed with him again, and if he was lucky,he would get to touch her again, fulfilling that high he had been searching for all these years.

When he graduated from college, Alec gave Sam his book store and worked alongside him until he passed away. Seemingly Samuel had a good life. He lived in a nice apartment above the bookstore, he loved his job, and he was a kind person, but every once in a while a darker side emerged from inside of him. His love for true crime got him fantasizing about “the perfect crime,” He wondered if he could ever do it. He found himself stalking men and women, but could never actually hurt them until he met a man who caught him stalking somebody one day. The man told him they could use his expertise. Years ago a shy young blonde walked into his classroom and rarely talked. Her papers were amazing, and he saw such potential in her. She seemed to shy away from any male person, so he treaded lightly, but one day they got to talking about books in class, and he happened to mention her favorite. From that point, Charles became the teacher Lilly went to if she needed help with anything. He could see she had no real parental figure in her life, so not only did he take her under his wing, but so did his wife who taught Child Development. This was not anything new for Charles and his wife. He strived to be a beacon of support for anybody he could. After Lilly graduated, she stayed in touch with his family. From time to time she comes in to say hello, or stops by for a meal with her daughter. Charles and his wife still teach and are looking forward to three new grandbabies this coming year.

Task 28

Every morning Lilly woke up around the same time. Everything was still dark, and the house was extremely quiet. This was her “Me time” she needed to get her day started right. Quietly, she kicked off her blankets and smiled at her daughter who had fallen asleep next to her last night. As usual, Lilly walked to the bathroom. She liked to wash her face, take a shower, and get ready before Adlee woke up. As soon as she walked into the bathroom, Lilly reached out and flicked on the lights. She turned to the sink and switched on the cold water. When she finally met her face in the mirror her emerald eyes widened, and she gasped. Surely she was dreaming. The reflection staring back at her was herself, but a younger version. Lilly blinked a few times and brought her hands to her face to rub her eyes. When she looked in the mirror again, the younger her was still there. “Okay, this is a dream.” She told herself. Lilly filled her hands with cold water and splashed it onto her face. She was expecting to wake up any moment, but it just wasn’t happening. She pinched herself, blinked again, and even told herself that she was crazy, but nothing was changing the reflection she was staring at. “Okay Lilly, you are going crazy.” She muttered to herself. 

Whatever dream she was having was not making any sense, so she decided to walk back to her bed and lay down.  She cuddled up to Adlee, and closed her eyes. When she woke up the next time she would either be better rested and less crazy or out of the dream she was in. Unfortunately, neither of those things was true. About two hours later Adlee was tapping on her face, and asking her if she was okay. They headed back to the bathroom, and Lilly realized she really did look like her teen self. “How is this possible?” She asked herself. Lilly was really worried that she was losing her mind. Had all of the stress finally caught up to her? Adlee was confused, but she wasn’t treating Lilly any differently, so Lilly decided the best way to deal with this was to go about her day like normal. Every time she passed a mirror her reflection scared her, but she continued ignoring it. 

It wasn’t until the babysitter arrived, so Lilly could go to a meeting, that things got weird. Lilly had opened the door still thinking everything was in her head, but the sitter looked concerned. Lilly tried to explain things as usual, but the concerned look on young Annabelle’s face was enough to tell her she really did look ten years younger. “Listen, I know you may be confused, but I am Lilly. I promise. I just happen to look a little younger, but you can ask me anything.” She was trying to act normal, and go over the rules and plan for the day, but Annabelle had slyly called the police, and Lilly was now hearing banging on her door. “Great…” She muttered. How was she going to get out of this? Adlee ran over to her mother, and Lilly picked her up as she walked towards the front door. When it opened, Lilly sighed and flashed the two officers a smile. “Hello officers, come on in,” she stated and took a step back. Annabelle looked at Lilly with an apologetic expression but stayed closer to the police officers than her. Adlee hugged onto Lilly while the men asked Annabelle why she had called. Pretty soon they were walking over to Lilly. 

“Okay, so there seems to be some confusion with who you are? The young woman over there was supposed to come to babysit, and instead of the girl's mother, you were here.” Letting out a groan, Lilly shook her head. “I am the girl's mother. In fact, I work for the state, and I have never been in trouble before. I can grab my ID for you?” Lilly wasn’t sure if that would do much good since she was not going to look like her picture, but she walked over, still holding Adlee, and pulled the card out of her wallet. “I look a little younger, but -” She shrugged knowing they would either believe her or not. From the look on their faces, they didn’t believe her. “Is this your mother or sister in the picture?” They asked. “No, it is me. I know this seems crazy. I look young, but you can check my fingerprints, or blood, or whatever. I am not lying.” She said, getting a little panicked. “Mama, hungry?” Adlee broke up the tension in the room and Lilly looked at the men. “Can I go grab her some food?” She didn’t get an answer, so she turned toward the kitchen, but the taller officer stepped in front of her. “Ma’am, we are actually going to need to take her until we can figure out who you are. None of this is adding up.” Lilly shook her head no and hugged Adlee a little closer. “Listen, I will go with you, but she stays with me. I am not going to let strange men take my little girl.” She said sternly. Deep down Lilly knew they could take Adlee at any moment, but something must have stopped them and they nodded. “Okay fine, but you guys are coming with us, and we will need to figure out what exactly is going on. If the thing’s still don’t match up, she is coming with us.” Lilly was scared, but at least she still had Adlee with her, for now. The girls followed the officers outside, and when the front door closed behind them, she wondered if she would be coming back home any time soon.

Task 24

[ Trigger Warning: Murder, Cult vibes, Blackmail]

The rose gold Iphone had been sitting in Lilly’s trembling hands for about ten minutes. The young woman had been waiting for a call, or some sort of message for days, but the message she received was not from the person she was hoping to hear from. Adlee would be up in about an hour, and Lilly knew she needed to listen to this voicemail all the way through, and deal with it before her little girl was up. Lilly could be a mess, and dealing with a lot, but when her daughter, or anybody else, was around, she held herself together. The message had come through while Lilly was in the shower, about two hours ago. She didn’t recognize the number, but quickly opened up her voicemails, hoping to finally hear the voice of somebody she had been so worried about lately. Instead, Lilly heard a woman’s voice, one she hadn’t heard in years. “Lilly, this is your mother.” That was all she had listened to before quickly turning it off. Why in the hell would this woman be calling her, and how was she doing that from prison? So many questions ran through her mind, and she found herself just sitting on the kitchen counter, her feet dangling over the the side, and swinging nervously back and forth while she tried to figure out what to do. She could just delete the message and pretend it wasn’t there, or she could listen to it, which deep down she knew she was going to do.

After another ten minutes, Lilly sucked in a deep breath and opened her voicemail back up. She tried to tell herself that this was just a message, and it couldn’t hurt her, but she knew her parents were horrible human beings, and anything they said to her coud be very harmful to her mental state. Deciding not to be a coward any longer, Lilly once again, started to listen to the message from her mother. 

“Lilly, this is your mother. I don’t know if you would necessarily call me your mother since I really didn’t act like one, nor did I want to be one. There is no secret in the fact that you weren’t exactly what your father and I wanted in our lives. I tried to abort you, I mean I went to even the shadiest doctors, but I was too far along. Your father and I hoped you would just die naturally and we could go on with our lives. I even caught your father trying to kill you a few times, but for some reason we couldn’t do it. After being here in prison for years, I realized we were never meant to kill you because, you were a gift from God, and you are supposed to help us finish our mission”

Lilly was feeling a range of emotions at this point, and she didn’t know what to do, but as the voicemail continued, she realized she was going to have to turn this into the police, and she could be in danger.

“Our mission is special. We killed all of those people in order to get closer to God. We would study people and only the ones with no sins would live. Now, there are a lot of people out there helping us. They know about you, and your little girl. Adlee is her name right? We want you two to help us with our mission, and the reason you were given to us, was because you are the key holder. God gave us you, and now, you have to give back to God. If you don’t answer me within two days, we will know you are against us, and we will give you, and your little one back to God. Have a blessed day.”

The final words chilled Lilly to the bone, and as she rushed to her daughters room, she called 911, hoping that somebody wasn’t actually watching her and Adlee.
