headcanon for leah bonding with sue when she was little please??

Sue had been a runner in high school, and had joined her college’s track team. As an adult, she didn’t have much time to run between work and caring for her kids. But as soon as Leah was old enough, she started taking her out on runs with her. Like her mom, Leah was fast, and loved running. They went on short and long runs, endurance and speed runs, training together. They didn’t talk much while out, simply enjoying being together.

Harry and Seth were the cooks in the family (Seth always argued he was more of a baker, but his pot roasts and soups spoke for themselves) which left Sue and Leah with cleanup duty. They never minded; it was more time to spend together. Sue turned on her old record player, digging up the albums she listened to in high school as they got to work. The job passed quickly as they danced and sang around the kitchen.

Both were notorious night owls. Sue always took night shifts at the hospital, arguing that she’d be awake anyway. When she was younger, Leah always stayed up to greet her mom when she got off work. Sue pretended to be annoyed that she was still awake (growing girls need their sleep!) but secretly loved being greeted by Leah’s tired but loving eyes. They shared a quick snack while talking about their days before heading off to bed. The next morning (okay, afternoon) they’d go out for pancakes, with more stories and love to share.

It was no secret that Leah struggled in school. Math and Science she kind of got, but English was hopeless. She did her best, but would still watch her grades slip. Sue wasn’t sure what to say, but she was determined to help Leah. She sat with her every night helping with homework, making flashcards to help her study, explaining concepts again and again until Leah got it.

Every Summer, they spent so many days at the beach. Any day the sun was visible, they were there. It wasn’t uncommon for other La Push families to be there as well; filling the beach and playing the day away. Sue usually used the time to catch up on reading, Leah by her side. Leah wasn’t much of a reader, but she loved to sit there with coloring books, later a sketchpad, and spend the time creating.

They loved living in La Push, but it was a special treat to go out for the day. Once a month or so, Sue would drive herself and Leah off to a nearby city - Port Angeles, or sometimes Seattle. They’d go clothes shopping, needing to replace whatever clothes Leah had grown out of, or worn down to the threads. Sue always wanted to visit the bookstore, where she would search the biography and romance sections, and Leah would camp out near the art books. After, Leah begged for a visit to the art store. She wouldn’t always buy something, but she loved to look.
