more curiouscat - art requests, this time for a "JEALOUS TAI PLEASSEE" 🤭
tai might be a married woman but i think she's applying the wilderness marriage rules here
So we see the wolf attack as a matter of “it didn’t want them to leave”, and that tracks. But given the way Van’s reacting to Taissa in the hours before the attack—starting to really recognize they’re standing on fundamentally opposed ground from one another—I can’t help wondering if it’s also an early sacrifice to keep them together. That violence breeds a return to true connection between them, right when the connection was threatening to slip. Arguably, it punches them UP a notch, romantically; it’s after Van’s mauled that Taissa’s willing and eager to announce their relationship, “drama” be damned. Without it, they might not have made it. Without that blood, they might have split up before anyone even realized they were together.
It’s fascinating that, on the heels of their first fight, the Wilderness finds a way—through the spilling of blood, and a near-death that comes veeeery close to landing—to ensure Tai and Van are bound tighter than ever.
The Wilderness has an OTP, and it will pull out all the stops to make sure they last.
tbh learning there are women who actively desire butches was like,,, life changing. growing up in the straight world i was just ugly and weird, but in the lesbian community people find me attractive? incredible…
What? What are you just saying? That the fucking woods don't want us to leave? Do you know how insane that sounds? The woods don't give a shit. And all of this nonsense with Lottie's dreams and omens and whatever the fuck that is— We can survive without a compass. We'll use the sun to travel south, and we can place cairn stones or something under trees. There is a solution for everything. An explanation for everything.

I saw blue jean last night and it’s been so long since I’ve seen actual butches in a piece of lesbian media
I’m so glad you got to watch it and enjoyed it!!
yeah!! the butch rep in it feels so authentic compared to a lot of media AND the dynamics between the butch characters feel very true to real life as well. like, I can’t remember the last time I saw a canon on-screen butch4butch relationship represented as realistically as jeanviv and I really love that the film highlights butch friendship as well to an extent with their friend group.
I could literally write an entire essay about why blue jean (2022) is SO IMPORTANT for butch rep. like, I personally really consider it to be the return of lesbian cinema because I haven’t seen butch representation executed so well since like 90s lesbian films (in a film at least, tv rep has been a slightly better imo).
I really feel like (and hope) we’re at a turning point in lesbian media and it will continue down the path blue jean (2022) started with more and better butch rep.
