If this city was a dream, at least it was a pleasant dream, fluffy and soft without a care in the world. A clear difference from the strife and constant conflict she was used to in her own world at least. Not the most perfect dream, mind you, if so Saber, Caster, Altera and the others would be here with her. Everyone she cares about in such a soft, lovely place, now that would be Hakuno’s most pleasant dream.
Moving past the sheep so as not to disrupt their flow, she made her way to the counter to make her own order and perhaps even buy Hinami’s drink as well. She lead her here, it wouldn’t hurt to treat her too and the girl could use the friendly gesture she felt. She didn’t fully understand why Hinami had to live like that, but at the same time she could relate to being unable to form friendships with more than a small number of people.
“It’s good that you had people to be with even having to live like that and a good friend by your side to work together with. I came from a place filled with fighting, where everyone was out for themselves, but I also had a constant partner and friends who helped me.” A sad smile crept on Hakuno’s face now as she remembered the friends she made in the SE.RA.PH: Rin, Rani, even Shinji and Leo.
“Ah, before I get lost in thought, what would you like? I’ll pay for it.” She tried to perk back up her smile again, lest the whole conversation droop in mood.
Hinami was surprised at Hakuno’s words, her eyes widening softly, before a small laugh left her lips. “It seems like we’ve got a lot in common.” It helped put her at ease, in any case. To think there were humans that experienced the same things ghouls did. If only they could have lived in harmony back home..
“It’s...certainly no way to live, but it’s bearable with people by your side. People you trust with your life.” She certainly missed them. It was hard suddenly adjusting to such a change in her life.
But it seemed that Hakuno had experienced a similar situation, likely missing her own friends as well. Just what was the reason they were brought here?
Tumblr media
“Oh, um, just a regular cup of coffee is fine,” she answered, as her eye was drawn to the pastry display. “And...maybe one of those danish things...” It wouldn’t hurt to check, to see if she was able to eat something she had never been able to eat before.
If she was truly safe here, if she could live as a human...

He returns the notion and simply bows, letting her walk ahead of him. Tsukiyama catches up and makes sure to stand far enough away where she would have room but also so he could protect her if anything were to happen… It was probably just upon instinct that he stayed this way. It had been a while since he’d been near her but it wouldn’t stop the feeling in the slightest.
He takes a breath and looks around, he didn’t actually know where they were headed to… He knew that he could probably order tea to his hotel room… In all honesty that wouldn’t be the most fun thing to do– Or nicest experience. It was a very nice room after all… He’d attempted to make it feel more like home with the many books he’d scattered around… but, even just thinking on how he lost all that edged a hole deeper into his chest.
Tumblr media
He reflectively touches the spot in the center of his ribs and lets out a small puff of air, trying to keep in high spirits would really be something, wouldn’t it? “I agree, maybe I can buy you some if we manage to pass by a seller, hm?” A soft smile down to her and he laughs low in his throat… Yes. Just like old times… He would pay anything to get those times back. “I have not been here long enough to see anyone else besides you, Little lady… Although, I will take your word on it. Perhaps there are more stranger things here than a ghoul?”
He takes another quick look around then back down to the younger ghoul beside him, “Anywhere in particular I can treat you to?”
Tumblr media
She may have changed, grown up, but there were still things about her that stayed the same. Like her love of reading, and her love of flowers. No matter what, there were still parts of her that she couldn’t--no, wouldn’t--shake. Parts of herself she would not discard just because the world had hardened her heart.
“I’d like that,” she nodded with a small smile. “They really brighten up a room.” And she could already think of several places in her room that could really use some flowers. She did need to finish decorating, didn’t she?
How strange it was to have a place, a permanent home, that she was able to decorate, and not have to worry about leaving it behind and leaving no trace she was ever there in the first place. But...it was comforting, too.
“Hmm...there’s a really nice cafe here. The atmosphere is nice. It reminds me of Anteiku, a bit.” What it used to be, anyway. “I haven’t tried any of their teas yet but their coffee is very good. I visited before when I first arrived.”

Tumblr media
It was rare to find someone who really understood her fondness to books. Chtholly couldn’t help but to smile happily, unable to resist the excitement of having friends with same interest. “Especially when the author ends every chapter with cliffhangers, that way I just can’t find a way to stop even for a second. It can be bad for me, but it’s the author’s fault for loving cliffhangers too much!” Of course, she was joking at the last sentence, as she chuckled afterwards.
The way Hinami fondly described about books made Chtholly ponder. A human who truly loved reading was here, talking happily with her and enjoying her job as librarian. Chtholly liked how Hinami said that books were a way to escape, from reality. It was wonderful. She never thought that way before.
Her gentle smile remained. “A pure book lover like you…You are the first one that I have ever meet.” She didn’t know if Hinami needed to know about that. “I am not a pure bookworm–in good sense–like you. Books contain a lot of information that even thousands of life experience cannot provide. Knowledge is what I seek from them.”
She began to slightly reminiscence. “The place where I previously lived…also had a library. It wasn’t as big as Lollipop Library, but it’s comfortable. Many books, not only scientific or history ones, but also fictions in various genres, are available there. The library also has a sofa where I, and my friends, and the children I take care of, would gather to read fairy tale, to eventually sleep at there.”
She exhaled a soft sigh. “I spent most of my time taking care of the little ones at there, being the oldest amongst all, I should push my selfish desire to approach library behind the responsibilities. But now that I live by myself in Stella City, I can do whatever I want, including taking care a library and reading many books without any worries.”
Her eyes somewhat became saddened as she added. “It’s kind of lonely, though. I have new friends here–and you–even so, I can’t help but to worry about everyone in the place where I previously lived.”
She realized she had talked too much, as she chuckled apologetically. “Ah, sorry. I ended up talking too much.”
Hinami laughed as well, nodding in agreement. “Yes! You’ve just got to keep reading to find out what happens! But I agree, when a book ends on a cliffhanger, it’s bad for my heart. Especially when I have to wait a long time to for the next book to come out.” Sometimes, it made her feel like throwing the book across the room--but that was no way to treat a book, no matter how angry or into it she got.
“Oh?” Her eyes widened slightly, tilting her head to the side. “Well, it’s true, there are a lot of people who enjoy books the way I do, but also some who don’t. There’s nothing wrong with reading for more knowledge either.” She smiled, absentmindedly playing with a strand of her hair. “I think it’s very admirable to read for that reason as well.”
Her expression softened as Ctholly went on. “That sounds nice...I did something similar, at least. Where I’m from, there were several children that lost their parents. My....ah, group took them in, sheltered them and took care of them. I helped every chance I could get.” She wondered how they were doing now...probably wondering where she had gone, or why she hadn’t come to visit yet.
Tumblr media
“I understand exactly what you mean. It’s the same for me...There are lots of people back home that I worry about, and it does feel lonely without them but..I believe we’ll see each other again eventually,” she nodded. “Maybe not yet, but the future, surely.” People she wanted to reunite with more than anything.
Another laugh left her lips and she shook her head. “No, don’t worry about it. I’m learning more about you! We’re friends, after all. That’s natural, isn’t it?” she asked, her eyes shining. She hadn’t thought she’d make friends so easily here but...well, the peaceful atmosphere was getting to her.

Trying to adjust was… Well more than difficult. Tsukiyama takes a deep breath as he hears the familiar name easing the stress of being here somewhat… It was nice to know that Hinami was here. Maybe they could go out again, just like old times.
“Oui, I suppose the name still works for me… I have not changed much you know and although you’re much older now, I still will have trouble prying the name from you as I suppose you will always be, ‘Un petite madame’!”
Tumblr media
He doesn’t know his way around too well, no not at all but maybe she wouldn’t mind going out for tea like they used to. “Likely… I didn’t know other ghouls were here, it’s simply a nice feeling knowing I am not alone.”
Tumblr media
He smiles, “I would like if things were to go back the way they used to be though. What say you, accompany me for tea?”
She smiled softly, pleased to see that at least some things had stayed the same, even though things had changed so much as she got older. It certainly brought back memories to hear that nickname. She had missed it, missed those times. Things had seemed so much easier then.
“I can say the same to you,” she chuckled. “I’ll always remember you as the flower man.” She remembered how nice it was to see the flowers--and really, it was probably the reason why she was considering decorating her room at the hotel with some plants. “I don’t mind though, it reminds me of those times we all spent together with everyone.” Fond memories. Some of her favorite.
She had to agree though. The fact there were other ghouls roaming this city, freely even, had been quite a surprise. “It’s strange, isn’t it? For our kind to have so much freedom here.” She was still a little suspicious of it, but it...wasn’t bad.
Tumblr media
But his invitation had her face lighting up in a bright smile, nodding eagerly. A chance to revisit the fond memories she held, before things had gotten out of control, before she’d become part of Aogiri. “I’d love to,” she answered. “Just like old times.”

“I am not sure anyone expected to awaken in a place like this to be honest. Fluffy and bright but also filled with rocks, is this even a real place?” It definitely didn’t seem real to her at first, bur she knew that her definition of ‘real’ likely differed from others. Was it the same for Hinami too? Something about her seemed off from other normal people she had met before?
As they arrived at the cafe. Hakuno opened the door to the cafe for Hinami, would be rude to make the cute girl push herself in after leading her here, right? She motioned inside as well, drawing attention to the sheep that worked the counters, waited and commanded the few human employees of the cafe. “I don’t know how they run things but if this cafe is any indication, they do it quite well. It’s actually quite cute to watch them go about it here to be honest.”
As they walked inside, what Hinami had said nagged at her for a moment. “Do you not have friends where you came from? You weren’t alone were you?” Hakuno couldn’t pinpoint it, was this related to her unease she sensed before? Well, maybe warm coffee will help melt the ice between her and the city.
“That’s a good question,” Hinami mused, mulling over her thoughts. It certainly was a strange place. So much brighter and peaceful compared to the world she knew. A place that willingly let ghouls in among its citizens...for what purpose? It wasn’t a question she had an answer to, and probably wouldn’t find an answer to any time soon. “It doesn’t feel very real at all...but I don’t even think I could have dreamed up a place like this,” she chuckled softly. Besides, if this was a dream, she probably would have been face to face with her parents by now.
As they arrived at the cafe, the brunette gave a quick nod and murmur of thanks before stepping into the building. It...actually was pretty amazing to see the sheep at work. She hadn’t really known what to expect, but she was sure it wasn’t this. “Amazing,” she began, looking around in wonder. “It is kind of cute though, isn’t it?” she agreed.
She’d probably just drink a regular cup of coffee--maybe a little bit of sugar and creamer, to test out how human her body was now. Though Hakuno’s question caught her off guard and she paused. “Ah...no, not alone,” she smiled, a bit sadly. “It was just...very rough for some people where I came from. We had to live on edge and on guard a lot, so it was hard to really form friendships with others, beyond who we were with the most.” Like her older brother, and her older sister, and a select few members of Aogiri..
Tumblr media
“I did have a good friend with me though, most of the time. We worked together a lot.”

« ☀️ » : after a lifetime of hearing ‘no’ from everyone, he was getting ready to hear it again. he had did his best to grow from the selfish person he once was, and he honestly believed he did, but was this in itself a selfish act? is he demanding things that are too impossible from people? it made his stomach sink a bit. the last thing he wanted was to lose all the progress he earned.
yet, what he was expecting did not come. instead, he was greeted with an agreement. it took a moment for that to process, considering how ridiculous the whole scenario was. a stranger just asked her to work for him and she agreed. it seems like he had a good intuition, because he was certainly right about her being a warm, giving person. not many people would turn around and agree to something like this, especially not knowing he was a prince. oh, maybe he should mention that. ah, well, introductions are a bit important. he’ll get to that.
Tumblr media
dashing forward, he took grasp of both her hands, hunching over a bit so they could be at eye level. he was basically sparkling. “you really would do it?! ah! you are a goddess! it would be unfair for you to work and not be paid, for i have not done anything to deserve your service! there is more than enough money to go around!” oh yeah, the introduction thing. “ah! i am sorry, i should introduce myself! i am prince soma asman kadar, the 26th son of the king of bengal!”
Again, she couldn’t help but let out a startled noise as he suddenly took hold of her hands. He certainly was full of energy, wasn’t he? She wondered if he’d be so enthusiastic if he knew what she really was. He probably thought she was just a regular human...how was she going to make this work?
“I-I’m hardly a goddess..” she murmured. Demon maybe, or just plain old monster. Though if he was going to insist on paying her, it’d probably seem rude if she refused. She supposed having a little extra money in her pocket couldn’t hurt. But any of her next thoughts were immediately halted at his introduction.
“H-huh?” she froze, her eyes wide as saucers as she stared at the man before her. “P-Prince?!” No wonder he needed someone to take care of him! He was royalty! Suddenly she felt very dizzy, trying to wrap her head around the situation. She had just been hired to take care of a prince, and suddenly things seemed a whole lot more important.
Tumblr media
Honestly, it sounded like something out of a book--did things like this really happen to people? But there was no taking it back now, she’d already agreed, and she would have felt guilty if he’d made a sad expression. She’d just have to follow through...and learn how the heck you were supposed to take care of a human prince.
“I, um...I’m Hinami Fueguchi..Just a...humble librarian.” She was definitely going to leave out the part about being a ghoul...for now. “I-It’s...an honor to meet you?” Oh dear. She might need to sit down for a minute.

Why was this library so big? The fact that Lillie was terrible with directions doesn’t help with this situation, perhaps there was a smaller one? No, this size is fine. Lillie loves reading so she didn’t mind the overwhelming number of books but rather how she would walk or next. She sighs to herself and briefly allowed her bag zip to open and she noticed her friend popping out of there happily.
Tumblr media
“I hope it’s not too bad in there” She smiled to it and didn’t notice somebody approaching them until she heard a voice and she jumped slightly she quickly closed her bag and tried to smile back at them perhaps they didn’t notice her bag shaking? Hopefully.
“O-Oh! Yes, I do need some help. Um… perhaps some book about this city..? Oh and back in my world, I was looking for a certain book so I wanted to see if there was anything like that here…”
...Was she talking to her bag? Or maybe to herself? Either way, Hinami definitely missed the bag shaking, as well as chose not to question the girl speaking to herself. She knew how embarrassing it could be to be caught voicing her thoughts to herself.
“A book about the city, hm..” she tapped her chin, glancing around her. “Well, there’s certainly no shortage of them. There’s books on the language, as well as popular locations. Like a travel guide of sorts.” Seemed like it was only the sheep who were here originally, anyway, so she supposed it sort of made sense.
Though there were also a great many books she’d never heard of, and she could only imagine it was something that was supplied for the people who came from other worlds. “As for the book you’re looking for, what’s the title?” she asked, tilting her head. “There’s a lot of books I’ve never heard of before, so there’s a chance this library has a copy of it.”
Tumblr media
“It’s kind of amazing how many books there are here.”

She’s always been good with names and faces, but sometimes however certain moments of one’s life make it impossible to register everything; her recovering time, to be more precise. So many things had happened, she’s well aware that they have, but her memories barely made any sense. Rize clicked her tongue.
She can’t be blamed for reading the letter delivered to her over and over again. It was brief, offered a name and a forewarning that they are to join very soon. Nothing more, nothing less! But she’s curious about this name, so deep in thought that it surprises her when her name’s called out.
Tumblr media
“Oh!” and the mystery is solved. Feels good to actually remember a thing or two, and Rize’s smile might have let it known that she’s somewhat relieved. “Fueguchi-san, it’s so good to see you. Life sure is different in here.” no lies so far “I’m sure you’ll love Stella City… it’s quiet and peaceful, very much like your new job! And a certain someone is also in town.” folding the letter and placing it away, Rize moved from behind the balcony with a perfect brow arched up. “Oh well, enough talking. I’m here in case you need guidance.”
Hinami managed a small smile and nodded. “So I’m noticing...it’s a little hard to get used to.” Going from having to hide and fight for her life to a peaceful city run by sheep was..definitely a bit of a shock to her system. And really, letting her guard down was incredibly hard. But perhaps a ghoul couldn’t be blamed for that, for not entirely trusting a place that seemed so peaceful.
“But it does seem nice being able to work in a library. It’s a fitting job for me,” she continued, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she dipped her gaze to her feet. Though she knew she was probably going to get caught up reading in any spare moment she had--but before she could voice the thought, her head snapped back up at Rize’s next words.
“A certain someone..?” The way she said it...well, that could have meant anyone, right? Another ghoul? Her big brother..? She didn’t want to get her hopes up and get disappointed. Perhaps it was someone she ought to worry about avoiding? Really, there were too many people that came to mind with a statement like that.
Tumblr media
It seemed like Rize was already moving on though, and it almost seemed strange that she would be standing here speaking with her but..such was the nature of this strange little city. “Oh, um...I guess I should ask what my duties will be? If there’s anything specific.”

She had been working as librarian for a while, but she rarely met the fellow librarians, to the point she ever thought that she was the only one. Chtholly was glad that she didn’t do this job by herself–aside of the sheep which came periodically to take care of the library as well–and managed to meet a fellow librarian. A really kind one, even.
“Thank you for understanding.” She gave a thin smile. It was for the best to let whoever reserved The Whispering Waves to read it. And she didn’t lie about having so many reading list she had to finish anytime soon.
“Recommendation?” Chtholly blinked in wonder. “Do all librarians naturally love books?” Because she assumed that not all of them liked it, though Hinami seemed to be the first one she ever met. After all, what’s required from a librarian was their competence to the job. Or…so she assumed.
Hinami smiled in return and nodded. “Of course, I know what it’s like to get wrapped up in a good book. It’s really hard to put it down when all you want to do is find out what happens next!” Though it was also a problem, because she felt like she would read them too quickly, unable to properly savor the story. Time and time again, however, she just couldn’t help herself. Sometimes, if she had enough time, she found herself finishing a novel in a day--and therein lay the problem.
The brunette giggled softly. “Well, it might be the case. For me, books were...a way to escape. I could forget about things for a while and go on a journey I’d never get to take otherwise.” Her expression softened as she glanced around her. “I was taught to read by someone who also loved reading, so I suppose that affected my opinion of it as well. So it just seemed natural that working in a library would be a perfect job for me.” A bookworm surrounded by books.
“I’m sure there are some out there who don’t care for it though, that see it as just a job and way to make money...but I love books, and I love helping people find books that they’ll enjoy, or that they need for a project. It’s..” she trailed off for a moment, searching for the right words. “Well, I guess it’s just a good feeling, knowing you were able to help someone, even if it’s only finding a book for them.”

“Aah I see we’re the same in that aspect then, that’s great, well maybe not great that we’re both in such a strange place instead of our homes but..well one thing at a time I suppose…” He shrugged, a bit awkwardly. “If you you aren’t from around here however, where are you from? If that’s alright to ask, that is.“
He wanted to make small talk but he of course didn’t want to intrude on anything. If there was one thing Ja'far’s mother had taught him, it was that politeness always came first except in emergencies.
"Oh that’s a relief, and yes there sure are interesting people here.” He smiled then, a sort of passion igniting behind his eyes although it was a more subtle thing. “I mean I’ve become used to diverse casts of people from my time working in Sindria as the adviser, however even then everyone was at least from the same planet…here it all seems to be a jumble of different places so unknown to me I have began to wonder if they’re even in the same realm of existence honestly."
"Oh yes this is perfect thank you…this should help quite a bit in becoming more acquainted with this strange place and its language….” He smiled, bowing respectfully. “Thank you ever so much miss, it’s deeply appreciated."
"Oh there’s no need, I’ll make my way to the second floor when I’m ready, you needn’t waste your time on that…but thank you so much this is a huge help to me.”
“That’s true, it is a bit strange, though it seems like everyone else is in the same boat too?” How strange it was, to have a place bringing people here somehow. She didn’t think sheep had that kind of power--at the very least, not any kind of sheep she knew. “Oh, um, I was from a city called Tokyo, if you’ve heard of it.” She wasn’t sure, given the way the other was dressed but stranger things had happened.
She couldn’t help but smile as he spoke, nodding along. “Yes, it’s...all a big mystery. Even if you ask how you got here, you don’t really get a straight answer. It’s almost like there’s something more going on here than meets the eye...but I suppose that’s true in almost any place you go.” Granted, most places didn’t randomly summon people out of the blue like that either. “I never thought much about parallel worlds but...after coming here, seeing it’s nothing like home, I admit, I’m putting a bit more thought into it.”
Hinami was glad she was able to help though, bowing in return. “You’re welcome. I’m glad we have what you were looking for. I’m still learning my way around the library since it’s much bigger than what I’m used to..” she gave a small laugh and shook her head.
Tumblr media
“Oh, don’t worry. It’s not a waste of my time at all. My job is to help everyone find what they need when they come in, so I’m more than happy to do what I can to make the experience as easy as possible.”

She was beginning to think she was going to like it here. It was peaceful, she didn’t have to worry about anything, to fear for her life. And just when her guard was slowly lowering, she heard that voice. Hinami felt herself stiffen, a chill creeping down her spine.
Even here the past seemed to follow her. Of all the people she had expected to meet, Eto was not one of them. Aogiri had been all but disbanded by the time she was out of Cochlea, by the time she had joined up with the others. The brunette swallowed hard and slowly crept toward the door.
She didn’t need to peek through the peephole to confirm it was Eto. Steeling herself, she slowly opened her door. “Eto-san,” she greeted. “I...didn’t think you’d end up in a place like this..” Not that she had thought she would either.
Tumblr media
“To be honest, even I thought I wouldn’t get back out..” She hadn’t expected to be rescued, but she’d been lucky in that regard. Perhaps luckier than most.
@yotsumenami
“Hina-chan? Are you home~?”
The ghoul called out merrily as she knocked on the door with a bandaged hand. It was so good to find out a member of Aogiri Tree was in this city. Eto would have preferred that it was someone more proactive like Ayato or Takizawa, but sometimes you just had to make make an omelette with egg shells.
Tumblr media
“Don’t you wanna see your old friend Eto-san again? I was so afraid I’d never see you once they took you to the Cochlea, you know!”

There was a flash of surprise, eyes widening at the familiar figure in front of her--another face she hadn’t expected to see here, but this place had a way of surprising her. It made her wonder how many other ghouls were here. Or why a peaceful place like this would even allow ghouls in the first place.
Tumblr media
“Flower man,” she answered with a smile, tilting her head slightly. It was good to see him again, a familiar, friendly face from home. Even now, she still remembered him for bringing in flowers all the time. Though times had changed, though she was no longer as innocent and naive as she once was.
“It’s good to see you again. Are you...doing well?” Granted, adjusting to this city was still taking her a while, but maybe he was having better luck than she was.
@yotsumenami 💖‘d for a starter.

The small pang of shock that went over the Pasée Gourmet’s face was that of sudden surprise as he looked down to the girl in front of him. He’d barely recognized her after so long and he did he best to compose what he was feeling behind a small smile.
“Little lady?”
Even if she was much older now, the nickname would still stick for her. It was hard to even believe how much time had passed.

⍟ any games on their phone? what kind? how often do they play?
Hinami doesn’t have a whole lot of games--in fact, she’s very new to having a phone in the first place. But she does love word games, things like scrabble and trivia games. It’s a nice little brain exercise! other than that, she might try some puzzle games, like bejeweled or something similar. She probably doesn’t play very often though, too busy getting distracted by a good book.
✹ five - ten songs on their iPod/phone?
Years ago, it probably would have been cheerful, upbeat songs, stuff an optimistic kid would listen to. But these days, it’s more things like Little Talks and Slow and Steady, both by Of Monsters and Men, Smokestacks by Layla, Hero by Ruelle, and probably some Lauren Aquillina sprinkled in.

Actually having a chance to stay in one place long enough to decorate has been a good thing for Hinami. Before she came to this city, it was basically plain spaces–few comforts, little decorations, as ghouls had to live on guard. But here, her room in the hotel is quaint and cozy. She’s decorated it the way she’d always have wanted her house to look–something that was probably impossible before.
She’s still in the process of decorating, so it’s a little bare still. But she’s mostly chosen pastel, soft colors to really make the place look bright. Her favorite part–and the only part remotely finished at the moment, is a little space for reading she’s created by the window, so she can sit in the sunlight and enjoy whatever book she’s reading at the moment. She’s not entirely sure where to start next. Maybe some plants?

« ☀️ » : it wasn’t any surprise that he must’ve just startled the living hell out of the girl by suddenly making such a bold appearance, and he did actually feel a bit bad about that. her squeak was adorable, though! she really did seem like the perfect type of person to temporarily fill in for agni. she was even more timid than he was! that’s okay. he grew so much as a person, and he has become quite the man since going to london, so he doesn’t need agni’s strength to protect him physically anymore! (yes he does.) he just needs someone to do the usual butler things he has never learned before. cleaning, he could probably handle, but he did not know how to cook for the life of him. or shop. or clean clothes. or anything really.
Tumblr media
after being scolded about the yelling, golden eyes glanced around the library, meeting the stares of some people who were in there. he offered an apologetic smile and a quiet ‘sorry’ before getting back to business. “yes, khansama. it is what you would call a butler. you are japanese correct? a shitsuji, then! it seems this terrible, terrible place has committed the biggest crime, and that is to take away my precious khansama. as much as i do not want to admit it, i cannot function much without him. he was soft and kind.. much like you! i did not learn how to take care of myself ever, because i was always taken care of. if you help me, i will certainly pay you a considerate amount! please be my khansama!” it was like magic. he woke up here and all of his money was just in the drawers! yet they couldn’t poof agni here.
At least he was apologetic about it, so she couldn’t really get angry about it. She smiled slightly, though she was again caught off guard as he began speaking. “Oh..” Wait, he wanted her to be her butler? What about her even remotely gave the impression of a butler? Though in her case, it’d be more of a maid, wouldn’t it?
Still, part of her felt bad hearing him go on. She could definitely understand being thrown into some unfamiliar city with no familiar faces, and certainly not the person he was used to taking care of him. She was, in part, reminded of Tsukiyama, but he was hardly so dependent on a butler to function. But that was the problem with some families--she’d read similar situations in books before. Some children were just too spoiled and then didn’t know how to take care of themselves later in life.
Hinami wet her lips, thinking it over. On the one hand, she was a ghoul. She had no idea how to go about cooking for a human. Of course, she supposed she would have to learn sooner or later. On the other hand, she was still a kind hearted young woman, even if Aogiri had hardened her to the way the world was. This place was different...and he must have been desperate, if he was asking a random librarian to take care of him. Maybe this would be a first step in trusting the humans here?
“If I helped you, you wouldn’t need to pay me,” she began finally. “I mean, I have no problems helping someone, but you don’t need to pay me for doing something like that.” It wouldn’t feel right to her, somehow.
Tumblr media
“I may not be as good at it as your previous butler but, I’ll at least give it a shot.” Time to stock up on how-to books, she supposed.
