Hi Mr Gaiman!

What’s your opinion on people saying someone is only a real fan of something if they consumed all of the available media of that thing? (e.g. “you aren’t a real fan of sandman if you only watched the netflix series”)

I feel like more and more people do this to sort of gate keep otherwise amazing fandoms and personally i think it’s quite sad to see.

It is so funny to me that the Joker just hates Dick Grayson the most out of everyone in the batfamily.

And realistically, it's probably because he was the one who "took Batman from him and changed him to be softer", but I like to believe it's because Dick is funnier than him. One time, when he was Robin, Batman smiled when he made a joke or a pun and that just never happened when Joker made a joke (because you know, Dick was never a serial killer) and he is still salty about it and will be for the rest of his life.

It was 13 or 14 years ago. From what I remember you just shouldered aside the mastodons, went into the Tumblr cave and carved your mark on the wall, telling people you were now signed up for tumblr, and then they would haul memes on animal hides past you. Back then it was mostly cats doing amusing things, obviously, but we would watch them by the flickering firelight, and chortle to ourselves hopefully before leaving the cave and trudging back to our lives.

I'm gonna say it.

It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.

That is a bonkers assumption to make.

I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.

I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

So, I'm a WoW veteran. I was there from the Christmas the game had come out up until Shadowlands where I'd finally had enough. (Barring free weekends and such. Tried Dragonflight. Very cool idea, still not going back)

The trend of the tank/DPS wall to wall pulling is why I stopped playing healing classes, because they'd pull this shit and then blame me when they wiped and I didn't tank because I'd also get blamed for whatever. When I started playing XIV though, that wasn't a thing that happened. Sometimes when tanking people would pull a little bit for me, but it was usually by accident and when healing my tanks would ask me if I thought I could handle big pulls. Because of this I became more comfortable playing healers and tanks.

Then came the great WoW exodus, and it's been shit ever since. Tanks rarely ask (though I don't have the anxiety I used to have anymore, so it's more annoying than stressful when we end up wiping because they over pulled) and DPS is always pulling for me. Again, this is more of an annoyance than a stresser, but it's still an annoyance. Because healer or tank, things go south and I'm the one at fault.

So I am happy for you that you're still having the old experience of people respecting your position as the tank, but it's definitely not on my servers, 'cause wish that was me.

Extremely obvious differences in player etiquette between WoW and FF14 btw. Like, as a tank main, the amount of people that run ahead of me in WoW? Disgusting.

In FF14, it's considered standard for the whole 24 person raid to sit and wait until all new players have watched cutscenes, and only then do we start the fight. In WoW? I'll be lucky if my 4 party members aren't running ahead of me because I spent 1 second looting a chest.

Antis are inherently blinded by their own rabid pearl clutching. They’re so Christian-brained all they see is the thing that offends them and they spend all their energy raging against it so they can say to themselves and their echo chamber ‘look at what a good person I am’.

They want someone else to create their imaginary safe space for them, not considering that 1) they can make that space themselves and 2) there are plenty of pearl clutching websites that will cater to them already. Like FF.net.

But what kind of engagement are they getting that’s better than FF.net? Are they so desperate for attention that getting kudos counts to them as approval? Why not take Ao3’s open source and make their own? Too lazy? Or too busy wanting to sanitize the internet and not really wanting their own site, they just don’t want Ao3 to exist.

That’s really all this is. They don’t want an archive of their own, they just don’t want ours to exist because to them there’s no line between fiction and reality and their inability to curate their own experience has them in a temper tantrum demanding that other people take responsibility for their experience while they sit there sucking their thumbs.

Frankly if they're going to behave like toddlers, they shouldn't be on the internet and they should come back when they learn to act their age and understand they have to take responsibility for themselves.

Well that comes as no surprise really. TERFs have shown over and over that they are not actually feminists at all, but really anti-feminists. They want women docile and breedable (and breeding copiously), which is why they hate trans people so much. A transwoman isn't breedable and a transman has 'turned his back' on giving birth (ignoring that many still do) and is a 'traitor'.

Women who don't want to have children aren't 'real women', women who have issues that make it difficult or impossible to carry a pregnancy aren't 'real women'. Women who have hormone issues that cause them to have unusually deep voices and/or grow facial hair aren't 'real women'. Even women who are naturally exceptionally hairy are targeted. Cis lesbians are okay only if they're going to use artificial insemination. This is why you see TERFs advocating for the anti-abortion laws.

realizing cis women also struggle with “passing” a lot of times and has a lot of the same issues with dysphoria trans women have (issues with putting on/losing weight, dissatisfied with bust size, not feeling “feminine” enough, etc.) has done a lot to combat dysphoria for me, cause it’s like, wow, we really have a lot more in common than we have in difference huh

WHO WERE THE RESSURECTIONISTS?

MUNGO DALRYMPLE (1790-1829)

Perhaps one of the most notorious names asociated with The Ressurectionists was Mungo Dalrymple (1790-1829), an Edimburgh doctor who hanged himself in disgrace when it became public knowledge that he was buying cadavers from body snatchers, for his medical students to dissect.

Born in Carsphairn, Dalrymple had a meteoric rise to fame in the Scottish medical establisment when he became one of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's youngest ever members at the age of 22. Dalrymple was passionate about the study of anatomy, giving many well received papers on the subject.

He was prine however to making enemies and earned a reputation for mercilessly skewering pomposity wherever he found it. This did not endear him to the senior doctors and surgeons of the Edinburgh medical establishment and Darlymple ruffed many feathers and as aresult had few allies when the bodysnatching scandal eventual broke.

FUN FACT Up until the 19th century, barbers carried out many surgical procedures in their shops!
