Very very tumblr-friendly drabble for Pseudolove chapter 4. I honestly can’t tell which bits need a trigger warning anymore, but flag it if you feel like it, I suppose.
The offense, the audacity rose within him like flames of a wildfire devouring the forests and fields alike.
Let him go? The thought plagued Aemond worse than any affliction, any illness that had fallen upon him. He had been a sickly, weak child once, suffered from every type of fever known to man. But this fervor refused to break. He could feel it tug at him in the back of his head, taunt him, make him feel inferior, as if he was not deserving.
He raised his hand and scratched the itch until he drew blood. Only then did it leave him alone. It was the only way he knew how.
The blaze had never ceased reaching for the heights after the war. It was alike unsated hunger that kept searing him wherever he went, whatever he did. Retribution had not made it better, sympathy did not quell it, but the thought of Lucerys made it flicker. It did not extinguish, but it eased if only for a moment.
Aemond returned to his quarters, the apartments he shared with Lucerys.

Alicent decides it right there and then, while helping her son and the nurses to patch up a half-dead Lucerys and screaming for someone to notify Rhaenyra and Daemon immediately, that things had gotten out of hand. She decides it while she recalls all the times Aegon teared up at the mention of him becoming King, and she had slapped him for not being responsible enough. She recalls all of Helaena's worried looks every time she had to share another nonsense riddle. And the biggest strike is when she sees Aemond glued to a chair next to Lucerys' bed, wiping his own face from the wetness that Alicent is certain is not just rain.

lucerys isn’t a little boy. he knew perfectly well how secret affair with aemond could end. but news of his pregnancy is still confusing. luke didn’t expect to get into such situation as he was always extremely careful and drank moon tea.
“i guess gods are punishing me for my sins,” lucerys sighs, plucking up the courage to tell aemond the news. uncle reacts expectedly unemotional. luke, already on the verge of breakdown, is ready to kill him, but instead just silently goes to his room. after all, he should have expected aemond’s reaction, right? it was just a passion and desire, nothing more.
on the same day, the queen summons lucerys to her chambers. when he comes and sees rhaenyra, aemond and daemon in the same room, he’s embarrassed. what is aemond doing here? did he tell my mother everything? she's gonna kill me!
but instead rhaenyra calmly says, “aemond asks for your hand. and i hope you’ll agree because of the… delicate state you’re in.”
luke’s vexed and shocked, and he forgets how to speak.
“this should have been done a long time ago,” aemond adds, staring blankly at luke. daemon stands in the corner of the room, grinning. it seems he passes on the “family disappointment” title to these two.
