My practice is interactive device designer. Below is the annotated bibliography applicable to my chosen profession.
Lurie, Y. and Mark, S., 2015. Prefessional Ethics of Software Engineers: An Ethical Framework. Science and Engineering Ethics, 22(2).
This article is useful in support of my professional practice as an interactive device designer. Basically, authors of this peer-reviewed journal talks about professional ethics that is applicable to all software engineers and developers. Using this article as a reference, I can be guided on several professional standards I need to observe as I create and design interactive software (and hardware) for my future clients. For instance, aside from having competitive technical knowledge in software development, this article suggests that professional software engineers should also observe several code of conduct that was created by the Software Engineering Code of Ethics and approved by IEEE-CS and ACM.
Martin, K., 2015. Ethical Issues in the Big Data Industry. MIS Quarterly Executive, 14(2), pp. 67-85.
Software engineers can be dependent on the use of big data to allow them to easily manage and control excessively complex and large data they need in their profession. Specifically the article written by Martin (2015) is useful in terms of guiding software engineers on what they need to know about ethical issues that are directly related to the big data industry. Overall, this article gives us the idea that there are social and ethical implications associated with the use of big data technology. For instance, unauthorised selling of data violates both professional ethics and the end users’ right to privacy.
Procaccianti, G., Fernandez, H. and Lago, P., 2016. Empirical evaluation of two best practices for energy-efficient software development. Journal of Systems and Software, 117(2016), pp. 185-198.
One of the challenges of becoming an interactive device designer is to be able to come up with energy-efficient software for my future clients. The article written by Procaccianti et al. (2016) is useful in terms of guiding me on how to effectively reduce energy consumption when designing and implementing new software by up to 25%. As such, this article talked about the use of “query optimization” when using MySQL and “sleep” mode when using the Apache Webserver. Likewise, this article also discussed some of the few best practices that will allow software designers and developers to practice energy saving when creating new software.
Ghobadi, S., 2015. What drives knowledge sharing in software development teams: A literature review and classification framework. Information & Management, 52(1), pp. 82-97.
Software developers and engineers are expected to work in team so that they can come up with a more effective and reliant interactive software design. Specifically this article is useful in terms of highlighting the importance of knowledge sharing when working with a group of software developer(s). Through brainstorming and knowledge sharing, software developers and engineers can easily learn and gain new ideas and know-how straight from their co-workers. For this reason, this article strongly suggests that software developers and engineers should give importance to workplace diversity, work coordination amongst staff, and importance of two-way communication.

Reflective Practice & Blog Posts
My current practice is an interactive device designer whereas my current field of study is Digital Media Art. What is central to my field of study is the need to create more artistic work using digital technology. For instance, in my current field of study, it is crucial to learn painting using digital technology such as ArtRage, Corel Painter, or Adobe Photoshop. Overall, my current field of study supports my practice in the sense that I am able to improve my ability to create new designs for my clients. Without learning new ways to create digital designs, it would be harder for me to satisfy my client’s expectations.Based on my previous work experience working as an interactive device designer, I realised that my current knowledge and skills in software development is not sufficient in allowing me to meet my client’s technical requirements and needs. For this reason, I purposely use my free time to practice continuous learning. It means that I do my own research work so I can continuously learn new skills and upgrade what I have learned from my previous work experience. In this context, I could end up working on a 24/7 basis depending on my workload and my ability to satisfy my client’s work requirements.Software design and development is a multifaceted task since software developers are expected to create their own software program that meets the client’s requirements. Within a limited time frame, software developers are expected to deliver the system to clients. For this reason, there were few instances in the past I had to face serious problem with regards to software development. For instance, there was a time when I had to rush a job for a client but for some reason, I forgot a computer code which I need to do to ensure that the software will run perfectly on computer hardware. Since all of my co-workers are busy doing their own projects, I was left with no other choice but to do my own self-learning through research work. This scenario happened many times in the past which explains why I work the way I do. Fortunately, through my own research, I was able to come up with a solution to my problem. At the end of the day, I was able to meet my client’s order requirements on a timely basis. For some reason, technology continuously and rapidly changes over time. Therefore, what is tangential to my research is that continuous learning is crucial not only in software development but also in the study of Digital Media Art. It is not possible for a person to keep on relying on other people for help or assistance. By continuously updating one’s own knowledge and skills in software design and use of digital technology in creating arts, it is possible for me to keep myself highly competitive in my chosen profession and practice. This way, I can easily climb up the professional ladder as I continuously improve my knowledge and skills in software development and digital art designs.

Critical Analysis(part 2)
According to Pinto and Castor (2017), most platforms we have today that are available for mobile computing is highly dependent on software that are easily available in the market. Since most of our mobile gadgets such as smart watches, tablets, smartphones, and smart glasses need to interact with different kinds of software, it makes a lot of sense that software engineers and developers should continuously find new ways on how to make software more energy efficient so that the end consumers could benefit from being able to use their battery for longer period of time. Often, the use of poorly optimized software could end up depleting the battery of mobile devices more easily as compared to the use of highly optimized software (Pinto and Castor, 2017). To increase energy-efficiency in mobile devices, Schaumont (2013) strongly suggest the need to move parts of the flexible software into fixed hardware. In practice, the act of moving parts of the flexible software into fixed hardware is not the only way we can effectively increase the energy-efficiency in mobile devices. For instance, Bicknell (2012) explained that other ways to improve energy-efficiency when using mobile devices include the need to reduce image resolution, run different applications in shared servers, reduce the frequency of log, remove history data, and so on.The research study of Procaccianti et al. (2016) was limited in terms of determining how much energy can be saved each time we use the “query optimization” in MySQL and “sleep” option in Apache web server. In reality, energy consumption is necessary in terms of supporting both hardware and software computations (Schaumont, 2013). For this reason, Feng (2018) argued that there will always be a trade-off between optimising performance efficiency and optimising energy-saving efficiency. In most casees, Schaumont (2013) said that increase in both energy-efficiency and performance in hardware implementation is more preferred by many more than implementing the use of sequential and more flexible software. However, increase in both energy-efficiency and performance in hardware implementation could somehow affect power density (ibid). Contrary to the idea that there is a trade-off between optimising performance efficiency and optimising energy-saving efficiency, Tsirogiannis et al. (2010) claimed that “most energy-efficient configuration is typically the highest performing one” [cited in Feng, 2018, p. 214]. Therefore, it remains unclear as to how optimizing energy-efficiency configuration can go in parallel with optimizing performance.

Critical Analysis(part 1)
One thing that inspires me most is the research findings of Procaccianti et al. (2016, p. 185) which states that “our results show that both practices are effective in improving software energy efficiency, reducing consumption up to 25%”. Result in the research findings of Procaccianti et al. (2016) was based on the empirical experiement they conducted in a controlled environment. Using “query optimization” in MySQL and “sleep” option in Apache web server, the researchers conclude that it is possible for software developers to promote energy saving practices. It is common for software developers and engineers to stay focus on improving their knowledge and skills when it comes to new technology (i.e. source code, software program, how to come up with data structture, specific program language for software development, etc.) (Georgiou et al., 2019). In fact, most IT experts would try to reduce energy consumption within the hardware level but not much on software despite multiple opportunities to do so (ibid). Since not all software developers and engineers are that much concerned about the amount of energy they consume when using or creating software in their practice, the research study that was conducted by Procaccianti et al. (2016) has captured my attention the most.It is common for software developers to handle large data to help clients solve their problem. This explains why the use of MySQL is relevant to the practice of software engineers and developers. As explained by McLean (2017), the MySQL is a free open-source database that easily allows the software developers and engineers to manage databases that contain both structured and non-structured data. Other advantages of using MySQL includes being scalable, robust, fast, and easy to use, ability to run in different major platforms, and allowing the end-users to use different hardware resources (Satoto et al., 2016; Stephens and Russell, 2004). On the other hand, the Apache web server is a free open-source, cross-platform web server software (Apache, 2019). Open source in this context means “free” and that the members of the open source community can proactively correct and modify the existing source code so that the majority can benefit from the web server (Dixon, 2004) whereas cross-platform in this context means that it can work with any kind of operating system or platforms that are readily available in the market (i.e. UNIX, Macintoch, Microsoft, or Linux) (McLean, 2017; Thorn, 2008). Since both MySQL and Apache web server are free for public use, a lot of software engineers and developers worldwide are dependent on the use of Apache web server. Since many people all over the world are currently using both Apache web server and MySQL, it would be worthwhile to explore and examine ways on how the use of both system can lead to increase in energy efficiency. Procaccianti et al. (2016) said that the use of “query optimization” in MySQL can result to energy reduction by 25%. Commonly found in relational database, Fortier and Michel (2003) made it clear that the use of quary optimization in MySQL can reduce energy consumption since the query option increases the efficiency in data searches and getting access or retrieving data. Procaccianti et al. (2016) also said that the use of “sleep” option in Apache web server can lead to energy reduction by 25%. Based on the explanation that was given to us by Chambers (2010, p. 93), the “sleep” feature in Apache web server will surely reduce energy consumption because the “sleep” mode will automatically reduce the brightness of computer display until such time power is restored by the end users. Using these arguments, the research findings that was presented to us by Procaccianti et al. (2016) seems possible and logical

Layout planning and risk control.
The layout of the project is very important, which affects the final effect. Ian helped me find the right room and someone to help me install the equipment. I planned the overall layout of my project. I drew a three-view.
Tumblr media
After my continuous debugging, I finally placed the position of each equipment.
Because the computer system borrowed by the school is too low to run my code, I will use a projector and a computer to complete the projection of the two walls. This also effectively prevents the picture from being inconsistent.
Tumblr media
I confirmed the stability of the column that supports this projector. Make sure the projector and the computer don't fall.
And then I put another projector on the table to project it to the ground.
Tumblr media
After the equipment is placed, the projection test is carried out.
Tumblr media
Finally, for the sake of security, I isolated the area where the device was placed from the area where the participants experienced it. Tape the power cord to the ground to prevent participants from tripping over the wire

career planning
For future career planning, I pay more attention to learning special effects in video media, which I think is a very useful ability in my future career development. As for interactive devices, I went to visit exhibitions of various interactive devices and searched for relevant information from the Internet. The devices used by various artists, the media broadened my horizons. I myself try to express special effects through the interaction between various objects. In terms of code, I found a lot of learning videos and learning materials online. Gradually achieve the desired results in my project through study and practice. I am very interested in building a three-dimensional model, I will continue to study hard in this area, it is very interesting to carve out a model that I have in mind.
I can show my carved model through video effects, or I can interact with it through an interactive device.

Martell is a famous brandy brand made in cognac, France.
In June 2018, the Martell Foundation displayed a magical immersion interaction device in its building, the <The shadow of the vapor>, which looks like flowing steam suspended in midair and shrouded in the first floor of the foundation.
The large-scale immersive interactive work, which covers an area of about 900 square meters, is designed to commemorate the Martell Foundation building and a fungus called Torula Compniacensis.
Tumblr media
“Torula Compniacensis” is a fungus that grows from alcohol vapor, and pure Martell brandy, distilled and condensed by wine, is definitely not without this material. “it is a fungus that grows from alcohol steam, and pure Martell brandy, which is distilled and condensed by wine, is a fungus that grows from alcohol vapor.
Inspired by "animism,” French artists Claire Bardainne and Adrien Mondot use digital technology to show scenes of aging volatilization and the smell of alcohol in the air, in which the dark effect of the faint flow is like the indispensable fungal material of this taste.
Wrapped around the audience. And people immersed in this, like drinking Martell’s wine, mellow lingering aftertaste.

This is a very interesting interactive device, its shape and color are very simple, it brings comfort to the audience
Thibaut sld Studio in Canada has designed a wall device “HEXI responsive wall” that can interact with people. The device is composed of 60 unit modules, each module can move separately, magically, all modules can reflect the fluctuation of human body, or reflect the linkage with human action.
Tumblr media
Thibault Sld explores the areas of geometry, light, mechanism, and interaction by creating interactive displays and lights that respond to external input.
The motion is recorded by a depth sensing camera. After analysis, each panel receives a cautious motor control response that looks almost like a dance from a distance.
Tumblr media
On the response wall of 60 independent modules, according to the action of the viewer, the material is made of aluminium and PVC, and the hexagonal plate is cast by the vacuum casting method. Active depth camera with motion tracking, fast collection of short-range human EMF, and decoding and translation;
Tumblr media
Each hexagon is equipped with an independent information collection feedback system, which can send real-time data and cooperate with the whole system, so as to realize the real-time feedback of the whole wall. Like a scene in a sci-fi movie, using this feedback mechanism, neighboring participants walk over and wave their arms or dance in the direction of the wall, causing a fluctuating effect. The dynamic waves returned to calm in a rippling.

Olafur Eliasson returns to Tate Modern with this unmissable exhibition
youtube
This is the digital media exhibition I saw recently in TATE modern, UK.
Many of the art exhibits here show some natural phenomena. Use light to complete the interaction between the real world and the perceptual world. My theme is also to let the audience feel the beautiful natural landscape, although I can not be as perfect and accurate as these artists to restore the light.
These exhibits have been completed by artists for accurate calculations such as geometry, through which they have restored many beautiful things in nature in the real world
. I think these are very good, very meaningful works. Many beautiful phenomena in the natural world are fascinating and yearning. They may have passed away in a hurry. We don’t have the time or luck to appreciate them. These artists still look like these phenomena. Is that we can all slowly taste their beauty.

Immersive experience can give the audience emotional treatment, I want to use a more natural device experience to reduce stress for people in the city, I find some information to prove, virtual reality related technology, It can treat people’s spirits and emotions.
The latest advances in immersive interactive technology bring forth to light the scenario that they can be integrated for the betterment of learning and also for the betterment of life.
The research conducted by Kim et al. (2018) suggests that the mobile gaming and VR experiences are being introduced for the chemotherapy patients. The outcome of these inclusions and introductions is the possibility of providing the patients with the ability to self-manage them and also improve their quality of life. Thus, the scenario indicates that it would be possible for the medical science to support their patients through VR. The use of immersive interactive technology has grown over the years and it is now being integrated in all the major blocks of life. Baker et al. (2019) have brought forth the different use of VR technology through the evaluation of its integration in the residential aged care of the older adults.
Through the use of immersive technology for the older adults, it becomes possible for the care providers to keep the older adults engaged and happy. It also provides them with the broader and happier outlook and thus speeds up their recovery and extends their lives.

This is an interesting interactive work, especially using “salt nuggets” as a medium.
The famous new media art creation team ART+COM created a projection interactive device called Salt Worldwide (worldwide salt for the German Salt Museum. Through this project we can understand the history of salt.
The location of the German Salt Museum is the location of the original salt farm, salt in the city has a history of more than a thousand years.
Tumblr media
The interactive projection device created by ART+COM is both knowledgeable and an independent work of art. Its exquisite expression of the unique charm of the work.
A total of 34 interaction points were set up on the device, each of which corresponds to a salt mine gathering place on the map.
Tumblr media
Virtual salt particles made up of digital particles make up this map of the world.
Millions of salt particles slide down the gully of the salt mine and eventually flow into the sea and spread out slowly. When you touch the “sensor block”, the scattered virtual salt particles begin to converge, and a number of information interfaces pop up, with text, images, and descriptions of salt spots.

The teachers need special assistance in today’s time to keep the children busy and also facilitate enhanced learning among them. The studies carried forth by Ahmad et al. (2019) highlighted that the factors associated with the use of new technology for promoting learning lead to the positive outcomes.
The new technologies are being tested for the use of teaching English in Malaysia. The immersive interactive technology creates a platform for the teachers to provide their students with a possible environment that stimulates learning. Thus, it can be stated that VR has a great role to play in helping teachers with the delivery of the coursework.
It is not just the classrooms that are being benefitted from the use of immersive interactive technology, but also the professionals that can make use of virtual reality for developing an upper hand in their respective professions.
According to the studies conducted by Judd, Cook, and Hunter (2018), the integration of immersive technology allows for the enhancement of simulation and also reduces skill fade among the future professionals. The medical science field can create learning environment that promote the management of situations and quick actions among medical professionals.
