Article’s Statment
Many of my pictures have strong colors. I like to take pictures from different angles. I like to travel with my friends. When I see something nice, I take pictures to commemorate it. I enjoy photography because photography can record life. Memory is lost but photos are not. Many years have passed， when I look at the pictures that I will recall the good times.

Larry Sultan (American, 1946–2009) was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He studied political science at UC Santa Barbara, and received his MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. He became known in 1977 for Evidence, a highly influential book he made in collaboration with Mike Mandel backed by funding he received from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Larry Sultan’s Pictures from Home is an intriguing visual memoir that is also an exploration of the all-American family, both as a reality and a construct. Pictures From Home was basic his own father and mother as it primary subjects that exploring photography’s role in creating familial mythologies. There pictures shows that his father and mother lived together. They are eat food and read book each other. According to the search, the photographer said “the institution of the family was being used as an inspirational symbol by resurgent conservatives. I wanted to puncture this mythology of the family and to show what happens when we are driven by images of success. And I was willing to use my family to prove a point.” His parents live in outskirts. The photographer use used family snapshots and stills from home movies alongside.
The Valley presents richly layered images that open up new perspectives for photography in their innovative combination of the staged and the documentary. His lens focuses on pedestrian details--a piece of half-eaten pie, dirty linens in a heap, "actors" taking a break--that offer clues to a bizarre other-world. The lush and intricate images adroitly play with artifice and reality, adding up to rich, elliptical narratives that circle around the concepts of "home" and "desire." The fifty-three photographs in the show are beautifully composed, filled with rich color, and very large: most are 50×60 inches.
“ Pictures From Home” and “ The Valley” take place in the outskirts . “ Pictures From Home” which he documented his San Fernando Valley upbringing and his relationship with his parents in photographs, old snapshots, home-movie stills, and text. This is talk about family. “ The Valley” which he shows lust. He take many pictures for young adults. The photographer use pictures to make a movie.

After reading Charlotte Cotton's The Intimate Life, I choose the photographer is Larry Sultan.Larry Sultan was an American photographer from the San Fernando Valley in California.He taught at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1978 to 1988 and at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco 1989 to 2009. I choose the picture name is picture from home.
I like this picture because I feel so warm and sweet. The old couple dragged on an happy existence for many years. They are conversation in the kitchen. The women cook the dinner in the kitchen. The man fix some problems. He hold the cup of water and talk about with his wife. I think this is so happy picture. The photographer use the two people interact to shows they are so happiness.

Exhibition Assignment
The photographer I chose GUANYU XU. The production name is Temporarily Censored Home, Guanyu Xu’s debut exhibition with the gallery. The place is YANCEY RICHARDSON. The address is 525 WEST 22ND STREET NEW YORK, NY. The exhibition date is 2/13/2020-4/4/2020. There have 9 pictures in the gallery. Guanyu Xu has secretly created photographic installations throughout his childhood home in Beijing in order to queer his parents’ domestic space, transforming it into a scene of revelation, protest and reclamation. Using collected images from Western film and fashion magazines, photographs from family albums, as well as portraits of himself with other gay men. He enacts a deeply intimate and political performance.
The fist picture name is space of mutation. He use many pictures to show the photographer about gay men. The space have visually complex. The shows that gender of freedom. The second picture name is Parents' Bedroom. Many pictures put on the bed . The means shows the photographer strong feeling of gender freedom and equality. The room mix many pictures.
The photographer was raised in a conservative home in a military-housing complex in Beijing, where expressions of overt non-heteronormative behavior were discouraged. He use the photograph to define gender of freedom and equality.
