the best concept is when byakuran gets mad bc he’s a man who prides himself in schooling his features , his emotions , in not letting people know if / when they get to him. because rarely do they do , and it’s a power move for him to be so detached from his emotions so much so that no one can rustle his jimmies but when he DOES get mad , or even the tiniest bit annoyed omg that quick change like his voice is usually so light and lyrical , syrupy sticky sweet but when he’s mad it gets coarser , darker , less sweet and he still flows but the way he uses his words are more sharp , pointed , and the change is SO SUBTLE because he still has his calm , cheery demenor but then when he’s MAD

byakuran and his wings. to be honest his back is very sensitive , especially where the marks of his wings are. he doesn’t share this information , mostly because he knows the moment he does someone ( ie , bluebell , kikyo , zankuro , literally anyone with a grudge ) would exploit his weakness. the area where his wings sprout are the MOST SENSITIVE PART OF HIS BACK. if you touch that he literally goes boneless. and this ain’t even meant in a sexual way yo. byakuran deadass will stop functioning it’s like a shot to his nerves. he can grow the length of his wings on willpower alone. mostly he keeps them smaller , because he finds them cute and they expend less energy.
it’s also interesting that he’s been given pure white wings considering his role as a major antagonist in the future arc. portrayed as an angel with angelic archetypes + features ( white hair , purple eyes and tattoo ( which can relate to royalty ) , white wings , omnipotent-like powers ). even though he’s anything BUT , perhaps his character is a take on the dichotomy of black and white and how white is seen as inherently good. but here we see byakuran is NOT inherently good. even in the future arc , while he joins the sides of the good guys is he really good now ? to me , i didn’t really think so.
he’s definitely not going to take over the world. and tsuna with his hyper intuition recognized that byakuran had CHANGED but he’s still not the text book definition of good. idk what i’m saying but either way his wings are hot thanks.

though he went out of his way to surprise or to woo someone–

Byakuran liked flowers. He knew this.
He also knew Don Gesso’s personal schedule, intimately,
and knew when he would be out, when the best time would
be to have his foyer filled with roses, with calla lillies, with
Juliet roses, with orchids; when best to have a team sweep
his mansion from top to bottom and have arrangements placed
on every surface that Byakuran could possibly pass.
Byakuran loved sweets. Everyone knew this.
With the flowers were edible arrangements: hand-crafted
marshmallow roses, chrysanthemums, peonies, dusted with
colored powdered sugars, painted with delicate and intricate
designs, dipped in edible glitter and gold foil.
Most, however, didn’t know that the Don enjoyed being flaunted.
He did, however–on the first bouquet upon immediate entry
was a small, hand-written note, reading simply: 7:00 pm - X

BYAKURAN WAS NOT A MAN WHO DID SURPRISED.
he was always , if fortune allowed it , large strides ahead of the “expected”. he didn’t do SURPRISES and he could say , with certainty , that he knew how to read people enough to become accustomed to their behavioral routine.
so , to enter his mansion and become OVERWHELMED with the smell of flowers. eyes assaulted with the vibrancy of ROSES AND CALLA LILLIES AND ORCHIDS. his eyes widen , and he’s INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL none of his subordinates are around to see him so floored. purple eyes survey the scene. he walks up to the nearest arrangement , slow and methodical. fingers reach out to feel petals. soft to the touch / too soft. he spotted the sugary sweets. the confections. because his soul ALWAYS found sweets. he grimaced.
who knew him so intimately. so well to know that GRANDIOSE DISPLAYS were the quickest way to warm his heart. no. false. he did know. he knew VERY WELL. his eyes train on the X. marking the SPOT and the TRUTH so boldly. he grasped the card , a simple message written in scrawl he knew so well. and suddenly his heart rate ( steadily rising , quietly crescendoing ) fluttered like wings. fast , powerful , to a scattered rhythm.
he was always floored by xanxus. and perhaps , that’s why he was so interested in the man. he discovered one LAYER , one FACET , that was hidden under gruff facade only to find another crust ----- another page to TURN. he shouldn’t be surprised. he KNOWS / KNOWS / he shouldn’t . but yet , as he clutches the note , as his smile escapes without his permission.
he is , utterly , truly. surprised.
“ what a grand display ... ” he brings the letter to his lips , a soft chuckle falling forth. “ he KNOWS i have to upstage him. ” although , really , it’s byakuran who feels as if his gift now has to be TEN TIMES BETTER. in the sense that , he wants xanxus absolutely floored and staring up at him with utter ADORATION. he needed that conquest. but also.
“ 7 pm . . . ALEXA ! search outfits fit for nighttime excursions ! ”

Upon returning to the headquaters he was swift to report without any delay, by a conditioned reflex bending own stance to get on one knee and greeting the other with respect. Yet the first gesture was not handing over documents expected from him to deliver, as white chocolate flowers that carried similarity with ones he used as a weapon of choice were placed on the glass table in front of the Millefiore Boss. He debated with the exact color, yet eventually settled with following that man’s aesthetic. “Today everyone is giving each other gifts in honor of the day, and I hope you will enjoy these, Byakuran-sama.” With a never fading smile, the explanation followed, spoken in a smooth tone of unveiled admiration.
AH. HOW THE FALLEN / ANGEL LOVED RECEIVING GIFTS. offerings to the king : sacrifices to the deity. he holds the flowery confections , chocolate SWEET wafting through his nose. his smile pulls , and he is PLEASED from the affection he EASILY pulls from his guardian. no tugged strings / no subtle coercion. UNFILTERED LOYALTY. it made the flower smell all the sweeter.
