Current state: just casually swimming in a pool of my own blood.
Who are the sanitary companies making ads for? If the whole of post-puberty and pre-menopausal females age group is their TG, I want to know who are these women who relate to their ads?
Seriously, think about your period days. There’s a lot of body pain, cramps, hormonal nonsense and of course bleeding. Do you really aspire to go out and enjoy or achieve things during those days? Is staining really your biggest concern, stopping you from living your best day? Do you even own white pants?
The last sanitary pad video I came across was called “Say No To FOMO”. The female protaganist is of course, wearing white-ish pyjamas, SMILING, making plans, checking for stains and even wakes up happy. That is as realistic as the blue liquid from a test tube representating period blood.
Are men making all these sanitary ad campaigns?
I’m yet to come across a menstruating woman who thought that if only she didn’t have to change pads so frequently and worry about stains, she’d have a wonderful day, yay! She’d most likely just want the day to get over so that she can just go home, lie down and suffer in peace.
I’m lucky if I don’t have to be at work or any other engagement when I’m on my period. Offices and society, in general, are apathetic towards menstrual agony. This fantasy narrative around period days does not help.
