OMG i have been so inactive because i've been so busy there's been no TIME to study digitally and post about it!!! i'm using paper and pencil to keep myself focused during lectures and drill info into my head because writing lines & actively recalling them seems to work well for me... my first essay exam is tomorrow & then i have an aseptic technique osce & 80q multiple choice next week .... and then i just have to make up 48hrs of placement i missed cuz i got sick and then its SUMMER BABYYYY

so this is what my setup looks like today x)!! LOVE a3 and a2 paper for this i highly recommend (i found it in my closet)

i feel so disorganized right now i have no idea what to do AUUUUUUUGHH!!! i had my second h&ab MCQ yesterday and i'm again confident about approximately one third of my answers -- it feels like as soon as i started nursing school i was already a few days behind on material x,))

here's a quick scrappy to-do list for myself just so i can put my head onto a page:

NATURE O.N. academic writing assgmt: due nov. 2 (~350/1500 words done)

FOUNDATIONS: holistic ass.mts (hand hygiene & manual vitals) oct. 31 (aka 5 DAYS !!!!)

PLACEMENT: GET SHOES!!!! all black, no trainers (WTF), impact protection and arch support

i finally know where i am for PLACEMENT and got an email from them!!! it included a glossary of some key terms i should know before i start so i refined it into a little vocab sheet for myself :)

to be honest my attention & ability to apply myself has not been up today which is a shame because the respiration lectures just keep getting more insane and i apparently have an assignment due on the 2nd of november ???1,500 words long and im going to have to learn how to use the nursing database FAST ... BUT today was nice regardless cuz i got a bus seat this morning & there was a clothing swap i went to today & i indulged and got not one but TWO slices of apple cinnamon cake .... its so so so so so gorgeous it was very much welcome emotional support x)

FOUNDATIONS: started on INJECTION TECHNIQUE TODAY auuUUUUUUUUUuu its getting EXCITING

HEALTH & APPL. BIOSCIENCES: more lung stuff & started dietetics today; i was finding it really hard to organize my notes and thoughts on dietetics so i thought i'd cut up the paragraphs and paste them around on google slides to make something more akin to an open-plan mind map? x)

it was an okay enough day :) i walked to the computer store to get headphones (& that stupid little thing you put in new iphones to be able to use wired headphones --- #bluetoothhater4lyfe) but the quality sucks so i gotta find a window of time where i can return them & get the next lowest-priced one </3

HEALTH & APPL. BIOSCIENCES: first class on metabolism was a breeze cuz we covered most of the material last wk & the second one on lung mechanics gave me leaving cert flashbacks

NATURE O.N: we were interrupted by a fire drill in the middle of our first bereavement lecture aka how to tell people their family member just straight up died. nothing more to note here

ANTIBIOTICS ARE GIVING ME NIGHTMARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEALTH & APPL. BIOSCIENCES: today we did respiratory portion of the resp system yaaayayayayaya lots going on in there so i made yesterdays & todays notes cuter

also i thought these diagrams in the slides went hard as fuck severely. the dynamic positioning? the movement? the sexy abstract shape of the sectioned alveolar sac & the intricate sicknasty looking capillaries branching across the surface of that singular alveolus in the 1st one? the way that the pulmonary vein and artery come in on the 2nd one? the way that the vessels come down and grow so naturally around the respiratory bronchiole like they're choking it out .......... literally this is the peak of design. this is the peak of diagram art. i am not mentally well

was super sick yesterday and couldn't go in (gonna get my TONSILS REMOVED) so i have carbs & embryology & clinical govt. quality + pt safety to catch up on ….. BUT WE BITE THRU IT

BIOSCIENCES: last genetics lecture on chromosomal disorders which i actually found super interesting and intriguing !!!?!! now i'm able to make that joke of 'you havent gotten to advanced biology yet?' whenever someone goes 'theres only 2 genders its basic biology' LOL..... but for real shout out to my XXYs if i dare say? they're kind of genetically predisposed to slaying

FOUNDATIONS: patient handling todayyeee and would you look at that... it looks like im remembering how to make things colorful again x) i used graphics from the site nurselabs but i've oughta draw my own sometime (or die trying)

FINAL cvs lecture, nervous system, elimination & a lecture on the nmbi scope of practice which didn't do much for me because i don't plan on like, killing people or something – i think common sense covers the majority of the scope of practice but some things about where in the world nurses can prescribe medication & stuff was interesting :) 

HOWEVER i did miss yesterday's foundations class & cvs lecture #4 because i was about to pass out so i have to squeeze those in SOON especially considering my first exam is on friday …. !!!!

it's funny how this works; myself and the two people i was sitting between were left with whiplash after this morning's 2hr H&AB class and it felt like i was never going to be able to begin to understand wtf that lady was talking about, but then afterwards with a free afternoon i took 3? hours to just take it slow, type out my simple handwritten notes from this morning, stare intensely at diagrams & read thru the lecture slides and U know what.... i'm not afraid anymore<3

NATURE OF NURSING: no classes today but started the beginnings of some digital notes on intro nursing theory, here's what my unfinished sheet on ADLs looks like so far lol!!

HEALTH & APPL. BIOSCIENCES: CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM TODAY AUGHHHH i'm TELLING YOU they're releasing NEW BIOLOGY bro WTF IS THIS SHIT !!!!!

blood pressure: force of blood pushing against inside walls of vessels

heart position: slightly left of midline deep to the sternum in the mediastinum (compartment of thorax)

pericardium: tough sac restricts ♡ mvmt -> only moves slightly in thorax

fibrous p.c. = outer covering of tough dense connective tissue

serous p.c. = parietal layer (lines inner surface of fibrous p.c.) + visceral layer (epicardium, covers outer surface of ♡)

pericardial cavity = space between parietal & visceral layers

♡ walls = 3 distinct layers

epi = visceral layer of serous p.c. + connective tissue

myo = cardiac muscle

endo = lining of ♡ chamber (touches blood)

external ♡ anatomy: bottom point of ♡ = inferior apex; top point of ♡ = superior base -> 2x small superior atria + 2x larger inferior ventricles // separated by coronary sulcus (deep groove, lets veins & arts sit nicely on surface)

aneurysm: abnormal swelling of heart or artery/vein walls // varicose veins -> weakened valves

and now i present to you my desperate attempt to understand all these new tubes I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT THE CORONARY SINUS DRAINING INTO THE R. ATRIUM AUGHHHHH i also drew a diagram on paper of the heart yaaay
