coworkers under 35 love me for my cowboy bebop jacket, coworkers over 35 love me for my cd player, management loves me for my mental illness-fueled punctuality. everyone feels vaguely wary of me for my overall poor impression of acting like a human

Star Trek makes me soooo crazy cuz you got Picard saying things like "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose."
And Data saying things like "I would gladly risk feeling bad at times, if it also meant that I could taste my dessert."
And Bashir saying things like “You can't go through life trying to avoid getting a broken heart. If you do, it'll break from loneliness anyway."
And Odo sayings things like "It has been my observation that one of the prices of giving people freedom of choice is that sometimes they make the wrong choice."
And I’m just supposed to be normal about it???

Was waiting for my turn to some stressful test. Decided to draw to kill time… So here is the Stress demon.

And an odd composition of shapes, that looks kinda like a small strange chapel. I find this type of construction: big at the base passing into something like a small tower on top, smoothing to my nerves for some reason. They remind me of long since abandoned chapels or rail stations. Or both.

Had a very intense day today and in the middle of it (right after leaving my university premises) went out to grab a bite in a place nearby. I was talking my seat when a lady of rather unusual dressing turned to me and said “Bon appetite! Let this Monday be easy for you. And the whole week too. I know it’s not rough for everyone, but I wish it to easy for you”. And then she took her stuff and left. It was a hard day after a few such in a row. Felt like my guardian angel suddenly ran off from his plane of existence to cheer me up. Thank you, lady I’ve never met before. Thank you, my dear angel. I’m glad you still look after me. I love you.

Some f*cker sh*tted my favorite character’s hashtag (one of them) with porn. I would have ignored it if it was just a few and about the character or even related to them somehow. But that’s a lot and no relation to the hashtag whatsoever. I’m so pissed right now. I want to see a pretty little guy trying to be a grown up but being cute all the way instead, not some chick doing f*ckin’ bl****b to some d*ck. Take your own hashtags people, don’t take those of children’s anime content!!! Arrggghhhhh! So angry!

You know how you do a thing and then you forget you’ve done it and it backfires when you least expect it to?
So today I’ve got a google calendar reminder of a birthday. Of a person who died in 1999. And the reminder said I was invited to a party on this occasion. Thank you google, I’ve got a stroke.
To be serious, Happy birthday Deforest Kelly! Thank you and rest in peace!

Somehow deep down I always felt that he was a sad depressed loner. I decided it about second season and tried to fight that sensation off, it seemed weird at the time. He always seems so lonely. It’s probably what I think of all too loud and acting hyperactive people.
I just realized how messed up Present Mic has to be feeling.
Like out of your high school quad, two of your friends died and one of them got turned into a Nomu, your other friend lost an eye and a leg and before that you found out that he was the first option to be turned into a Nomu, but the opportunity never came so your first friend that died was the second option.

Sorry, folks, I’ve got to whine a little. There’s a lot of cross-linguistic-historic-cultural jokes in the world, but some of them are made by people not just outside the culture in question, but not even knowing a single thing about this culture. And then other people with even less knowledge of this particular matter believe it and start spreading it amongst other people like themselves.
What I am getting to: if you don’t know the language (or this part of it) don’t tell that you do!
(There is a meme about a certain company going round whose logo looks like טוק, which as the author claims is read as “puk” (“fart” in the company’s country’s language), but in reality it is “tuk” at best. There are other options of how to pronounce the word, but “t” will never turn into a “p”.
Yeah, I’m petty. I am actually angry about this. That’s my blog.

Okay I’m gonna say it because I’m sick of it all. Please, people, stop discriminating Discovery. It is literally one of my favorites. And every f day someone has to write something about them being awful. Yes it has weird Klingons. Very strange Klingons. And yet it is wonderful. It is beautiful.
PS: Star Trek Discovery is hated by a lot of people in Russia by many reasons, non of which I agree with, except maybe for Klingons, but it’s not so bad for me even there. And well… Michal in the beginning wasn’t really attractive to me. She changed. Grew up. And I’m really proud for her as a character. Proud that Star Trek still has that kind of characters.

At some point of Star Trek fanfiction history someone decided that Vulcans are responding to chocolate as humans to alcohol, as to intoxication.
It was mentioned more than once that Vulcans don’t drink alcohol. So. Someone decided that they don’t drink it because they don’t get a kick out of it. (“Because,” thought that someone apparently “surely there’s no other possible explanation”). Than they thought that then Vulcans have to get a kick of something else. And…. Well…. Chocolate as good choice as any and quite a funny one. But the thought “The only reason not to drink is that it doesn’t give you pleasure of being drunk” says a lot about that individual and many many other people.
Although in this case it is used as a suitable way for a ficwriter to get things moving, it is still a very disturbing tendency of some parts of our society.

One of my favorite Garak expressions is when he's full of rage and decided to kill someone but has to be polite/bide his time a bit for whatever reason so he's smiling and you can see wayyyyyy too much of the whites of his eyes

About those cardassian ridges. As it was shown in Picard, the facial ridges are parts of cardassian skull. Part of a bone. So. They can’t move. Not within Star Trek universe. There is also a video on YouTube about how make-up of those ridges was made and attached to an actor’s body. They were made as one piece of material with no movable parts. So. They can’t move within our universe either. So. The question is. Why are they mentioned in every fanfic I’ve read as movable? (And quite active)
Although I do know why. Because we as humans are accustomed to understand expressions of other people by movement of eyebrows and can’t sometimes leave that habit behind.

Maybe that is why I really love him
Vic Fontaine is so funny because he's obviously every bit as sapient as the EMH and Moriarty but the two of them are desperate for freedom and agency and want to be part of the real world but when Vic offered that he's is like "no thanks I'm good, I like it in here."

Had a dream tonight. Seen some post you know, bunch of screenshots from some video with subtitles. It was an interview with Levar Burton where he was talking how good it is that borders are open now, that we have internet with free access to all kinds of information and now Patrick Steward does not have to hide anymore and can finally return to his planet. Also there was something about Patrick’s real name and comments of Michal Dorn in Worf’s costume on the matter. Haven’t had a chance to read it though. Damn alarm.
