Before bashing Poseidon and hating him for “raping Medusa” let’s take a moment to remind ourselves that that version of the story was written first by Ovid who was Roman. In Greek mythology Medusa is one of the three Gorgon sisters and was born a monster. Traditionally, two of the Gorgons, Stheno and Euryale, were immortal, but Medusa was not and was killed by Perseus. In addition, Medusa was the only one being able to turn people to stone. So please, next time you hate on either Athena or Poseidon, remember it’s not them, it’s Minerva and Neptune.
