Actually, the worst Simpsons retcon, and I am counting all of them. Every single one. Even that one everybody hates, even that one you really hate, even that one is not as bad as turning the recurring ship captain into an actual ship captain instead of just some guy who runs a seafood restaurant and is too in-character.

You know the thing where over time a bunch of unique character relationships gradually get retconned as all dating back from the same point at roughly childhood/high school and it’s really annoying?

#This is about how Barney was Homer’s (apparently only) friend growing up and Lenny and Carl were his work friends and Moe was his bartender #but now they’ve all been a friend group since childhood and Barney is the least important member of that friend group #And it’s so goofy because Barney was the only one who was in the B Sharps?? Do you think Homer would have been recruiting Skinner if he had #all these close friends at the time
