Suzuki Marine’s new 140 hp inline-four-cylinder outboard will be the industry’s first in this horsepower class with drive-by-wire throttle and shift, according to Suzuki. (Courtesy Suzuki Marine/)
Suzuki Marine announced this week a new engine platform for its 140 and 115 hp outboard categories. The announcement came from Gus Blakely, Suzuki Marine’s vice president of sales, in a virtual meeting with Suzuki dealers, boat builders and members of the boating press from around the world.
A physical press launch of the new 140/115 outboard is scheduled to take place at the end ofJune at the new Suzuki Marine Technical Center in Panama City, Florida. We hope to provide you with a hands-on report following those tests. In the meantime, we know that new engines are based on an inline-four-cylinder, 16-valve powerhead with 1.25 liters of displacement—same displacement as the current 140/115.

However, the new 140, dubbed the DF140BG, will be the first in its horsepower class to feature drive-by-wire throttle and shift, eliminating the need for mechanical cables. This motor will also sport a 10.5:1 compression ratio (versus 9.7:1 for existing 140) to produce greater torque. The new 140 will weigh about 13 pounds more than its predecessor. The new motors boast designed cowlings and graphics, as well.
Blakley also announced a new, lighter shade of white for Suzuki outboards—super cool white—to better coordinate with the colors of today’s new-model boats. Suzuki is also celebrating its 100th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, the company will be producing a limited edition of 100 models of the DF350A flagship motor with all-pearl-white panels.

One of recreational boating’s longest-lived and most iconic marques is being put to pasture. Bombardier Recreational Products announced today that it will discontinue production of E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines.
Ole Evinrude, it’s well to remember, was the first to successfully mass market and outboard motor, which served as an impetus in making recreational boating accessible to a broad swath of society.

BRP has re-oriented its marine business by focusing on the growth of its boat brands with new technology and innovative marine products. We will discontinue production of Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines. The Sturtevant, WI, facility, will be repurposed for new projects to pursue plans to provide consumers with an unparalleled experience on the water.
We remain committed to our Buy, Build, Transform Marine strategy which has been underway since 2018 with the acquisition of Alumacraft and Manitou boat companies in the U.S., followed by the acquisition of Australian boat manufacturer Telwater in 2019.

Discontinuing outboard engine business and signing an agreement with Mercury Marine
Following our decision to discontinue E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines, we have signed an agreement with market leader Mercury Marine to support boat packages and continue to supply outboard engines to our boat brands.
We will continue to supply customers and our dealer network service parts and will honour our manufacturer limited warranties, plus offer select programs to manage inventory. These decisions will impact 650 employees globally.

The CargoLoc 52" rack JUST fits the Renegade.I read negative reviews that the J-Bars were difficult togas fill up stops along the highway for secureness and they never moved.
Carried up to 150lbs of cargo in bag atop the vehicle with 8 straps secured to these crossbars...no problems.
Encountered some adverse weather conditions on trip up to Michigan (i.e., large hale, rain, and windy conditions), yet these cross bars did not get any damage, nor did they become loose.

CargoLoc 2-Piece 52" Aluminum Roof Top Cross Bar Se.. assemble, that theyre not stable, and that the straps are too short.
Nonsense! The j-bars were time-consuming to assemble, but not difficult. They are perfectly stable for carrying my kayaks. I have a Perception Expression 15, and my wife has an Ascend D10.
The Expression is long and narrow, and the D10 is short and fat. Both fit in the J-Bars just fine, and were fully secured with the included straps. I will say though, that it would be *easier* to do with longer straps.
I have a moon roof in the Murano, and was able to observe the boats from inside of the vehicle while moving, and at no time was I concerned that my boats were going to come loose.
Bear in mind that I have 20+ years carrying canoes and kayaks on the roof of multiple vehicles. The one thing I would say is that the nuts holding the bottom plate to the J-Bar did come a bit loose.
Im just using some blue Loc-Tite to keep that from happening again. For full disclosure, I never made it above 50 MPH in this test, but am fully confident that I could take a long trip with this setup.

"Installation was very easy and seems to be sturdy and of good quality for the price. Have yet to put it to use which may change my rating but overall very satisfied.
I did modify it by disassembling the rails to cut them down as they were to long for my vehicle, but it was quick and painless. Highly recommend if your are looking for a cheaper alternative to cross rails for your vehicle.
For the price, this is a great product. Easy on and off. The rubber surfaces, while secure, do move a bit if you really put your weight into it. Mind you, they don’t actually shift position or anything.

I bought these bars for my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek based on the price and good reviews .
I figured I would give them a try rather than dropping $400 on Thule or Yakima bars and if i didnt like them then i would spend the money for the big brand name bars.
I have had them on for almost 2 months now and have to say im pretty satisfied. I didnt like the plain aluminum so i sprayed a few coats of plastidip before installing.
there was definitely some noise and wind drag at first, especially above 60mph, so i bought 38 Rhino-Rack wind fairing and that has eliminated about 95% of the noise and drag.
