Doing the Dracula Daily read-a-long this year and I'm wanting to do something a little extra while reading. I'm going to try and make some of the meals shown in the book, but does anyone have any ideas of what else I can do for fun?

...how does the Dracula Adaptation people not know that Mina is

THE Character

What I hate most about those crappy "Dracula is after his destined reincarnated wifey" adaptations is that they absolutely obliterate Mina Harker's entire personality, agency, intelligence, bravery, loyalty, and tragedy, for the sake of the 589th version of the Rich Violent Guy And Girl Who Tames Him trope.

Because Mina to them is not a character with layers, interests, complexes, fears, and incredible strength.

She is a prop for the sexy vampire lord to have the equivalent of a bastardised Hades/Persephone romance with.

She therefore is not allowed to be the actual main protagonist, the woman who became one with death and defied it, the person who saved everyone, and a literal survivor. The one who wrote the novel Dracula.

Yet every Updated Dracula With Feminism demotes her to a love interest who submits to her fate and forgiving a random man who hurts her and kills her loved ones. Hell.

i want a dracula adaptation that fully embraces how horny jonathan and mina are for each other. i need a good screenwriter with contacts and access to so much money to clock how, towards the end of the novel, she almost exclusively refers to him as "my husband" or "my Jonathan" with what i can only interpret as barely concealed and utterly primal levels of possessiveness and desire
