Fiyero has been leaning back on his palms, legs outstretched before him toward the unrushed ripple of the canal waters, turning his head now and then in order to speak with Elphaba, and turning back forward to the water to endure the hesitant silence that suggests he was wrong to think she'd take the question any differently than Crope had. He has sat in this patient air of repose, but when Elphaba speaks in a low tone, Fiyero finds himself leaning in compulsively to catch her voice. When the word MURDERED drops like a stone between them, he draws his legs in, one knee up, over which he throws an arm, and he shifts to face her fully. "He what? A professor here? Who would murder cloistered academics? And what has it got to do with you all?"

Elphaba -- naturally hesitated a beat. Not out of fear -- no, the green girl has rather been stripped of that, she has been since childhood. More like an abundance of caution. Elphie won't admit she finds him fascinating too -- but not the shallow reasons the rest of Shiz does. They've more in common than is polite to observe out loud. Besides, F.iyero T.igelaar is married -- and Miss Thropp is no harem, nor woman, nor even... a person.

Finally, Thropp stops hesitating, "He was a professor here," Elphaba said in a hushed whisper -- despite being thoroughly alone. Galinda had gone to some party, she had not been invited. Nessa and Boq had gone for better or worse -- she was not called along. Elphie would invite herself but now she thinks the company is better.

"He was studying if there was a difference between Animals and animals..." A sad sigh then, collecting tragedies and mishaps, it cannot be helped. "He was murdered."

"Who is Dr. Dillamond?" The question emerges in a rare moment, alone with Elphaba. Their circle is the same, and all his friends at Shiz were her friends first, but somehow it can never be just the two of them, without those friends. Maybe its the class timetables, or maybe it's chance. Or maybe it is the powers that be, in their wisdom, keeping the young married man away from a woman whom he finds terribly, awfully fascinating. (He never thinks of acting on the interest, of course. Out of sensibility or cowardice, who can say?) But those powers fumble today, leaving Fiyero and Elphaba the last two of their picnicking party on the grassy bank of the canal, and so he asks it, knowing it may be too bold. "Crope mentions him sparingly, but shuts up when I ask who that is. I asked Boq and he was just as skittish. So... I'm asking you, since I know you don't mind being a little shocking, and I figure that you'll tell me the truth. So who is he, and why the taboo?"

been a real writing slump and oz knows you guys haven't seen me active around here in months, but idk i'm just pondering fiyero and you know what, i think focusing on a single-muse blog like this for a hot minute would fix me. but i need a(nother) clean up of my following & followers lists so that i can figure out how many folks i still have that are active/interested. so if you're still interested in writing with fiyero, give this a like/reply and i'll be sure not to break our mutual follow. <3

I just wanted to tell you, I used to follow you forever ago, on my first blog, I don't think we ever wrote together but I want you to know that I have actively thought about this blog at many times in the past ten years. Even despite the fact that I lost track of you in my blog hopping, I have legitimately discussed tenants of your theses with my fiancee in the past year. I just want you to know you've made an impact in your time on this hellsite, an actual real impact.

ooc;; oh my god?? hi?? that is so kind of you to say, wow! thank you so much for letting my brainrot live rent free in your head for a decade. this is so genuinely touching, man, thank you. i hope you don't mind that i'm answering this publicly, but i want to be able to save this on my blog to look back at. you should tell me what your old blog was - maybe i'd remember you! and even if we lost each other in the blog shuffle, i'm glad you found me again :) maybe we could plot sometime, finally write something after ten years, huh?

went through my follow list and cleaned out anyone inactive for over a year (hi, i'm ancient) and let me tell you, the number of old elphaba mutuals i've lost... is devastating. where are my elphies at? where are my wonderful, outstanding, brilliant elphies that i love so much? :'(

wow, having a mini influx of followers lately! welcome friends :) i’m a grad student preparing for some huge exams so i’m a little quiet at the moment but love my boy fiyero interminably so you will see more of me soon. that’s a THREAT.
